My wife and I have visited Doyle's almost from the time we came to Houston in '72 and at that time the owners Marilyn and Leo Doyle ran the place as a family; the waiters were high school and college students, their kids worked there, the kitchen staff was just plain excellent and worked there for many many years, in short everybody was family and my wife joined the family as a waitress for almost a decade. We were proud family members and when Paul took over the reins and later Peter the traditions stayed in place, like a three week closing of the place in July not only for a well deserved vacation but to improve on the place both interior and exterior. We have so many good memories of the place not only for the superb food, the pizzas are exceptional, the Reuben divine and you can even order of the menu if you still remember the Leo. Now we still visit not as regular as we used to, but when nostalgia combines with a taste of good food, we just mosey on down to Doyle's on 34th

Doyle's is and always will be my favorite place to eat it brings back so many memories of my family and my friends and birthdays. It's the greatest Italian restaurant in Houston as far as I'm concerned the owners the employees everybody that runs it and works there are just so nice and so appreciative to have your business it's just a wonderful place to go eat. I truly wish there was one in the Woodlands we drive so far just to go eat there and I will continue doing it for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for keeping this place open.To the Doyle family Thanks for the memories and thanks for the best Italian food in Houston....

Three generations of our family has dined at Doyle's. Through weddings, births, deaths, baptisms, and many Sunday dinners we love coming here for great food and great conversation. Thank you for being part of the neighborhood and our lives.

I am an Oak Forest resident who loves to eat local! Doyle's never disappoints! From pasta to soup it's all good! I was shocked to see they are closing on the weekends but hey, I totally understand!

If you haven't been yet, now is your chance. I have heard that the sandwiches come recommended, but I also wanted to try their American-Italian style that they're classically known for. I ordered both! First I tried the club. Huge club! Good sandwich, hard to mess up, saved half to bring home. The club comes with chips or coleslaw. I got the chips; they were ok. Homemade fries would've been better imo. Next I tried the lasagna. Large portion. Lots of cheese 😋. Something was a tad unbalanced in the recipe and I get the feeling that the extra cheese is there to cover that up. Either way I was satisfied with the dish. I feel like there might be some pricing issues with a few menu items. My sister got the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich (HUGE piece of chicken) for $8! While I'm not one to turn down a good deal, I feel that may be a contributing factor to the fact Doyle's is shutting down soon. 3 star for quality 4.5 star for pricing 4.5 star for friendly and attentive service 4 star overall It's sad to see that a restaurant with a stellar past like Doyle's will not be around for much longer. I would've liked to have seen this place in its prime -- I'm sure it would've stood toe to toe with the best of them.

Fantastic place. This was hidden, and I never thought much of it passing by. Inside, their history is all over the walls which is pretty cool to look at. It's a nice small diner-style inside. The sandwiches are a rather big portion. I had the Smokehouse Chicken for $8, and it was DELICIOUS. Huge too. I couldn't finish it. Their sweet tea tasted fresh as well.

This is a fine place as long as you do not expect more than what it is. It is a solid neighborhood restaurant with good reasonably priced comfort foods. Their spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread is truly my favorite in the city. It is nothing fancy. Just a solid value for tasty food and good service. I like it.

This is the best mom and pop restaurant around. Been there since I was born. Four generations of our family has eaten there. When I was pregnant with my 1st, we went to Doyle's twice a week for their works Pizza with beef and I ALWAYS brought an extra home. Gonna miss this place terribly. They are not only great food but make you feel like family as soon as you walk in the door! So saddened that they are closing. Your restaurant will be terribly missed and longed for not to say talked about and remembered for many, many years. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year's and hope all your further endeavors are as wonderful as Doyle's Restaurant even if it is retiring and enjoying life. The Doyle's family and the restaurant are true ICONS in Houston and we wish all the best to you and your family. When the original Mr Doyle started with the help of a local bank, I believe it was Oak Forest, he had no idea just how wonderful his dream would be and how quickly it was accepted by so many lifetime patrons and that it would go on for several generations. God bless all the past and present Doyle family members this most holy, magical and giving Christmas. Mark and Karen Goodwin

Hurry! This family owned restaurant is closing in 3 days. There are great menu options on the website. It is a favorite among area residents. There is a To Go window if the place is full. On Wednesday and Friday, the hours are 11am to 3 pm. On Thursday the closing time is 8 pm. Best wishes to the family. They will be missed.

This is one of my favorite family owned Italian Restaurants. It is close to my office and I eat here a few times per month. I often call in a to go order where it is made fresh and fast. For an Italian restaurant they have the very best Club Sandwich I have ever eaten.

Great lunch spot with all the country favorites! Service is good and the food is phenomenal. There's home style country deliciousness and garlic bread while you wait. Warning: You'll need to loosen your belt after leaving this place! 😋

My family have been eating at Doyle's for quite a long time and even as a child I had a tough time deciding what to order because it's all great. The garlic bread? Amazing. They also have great salads (best ranch dressing ever), yummy clam chowder on Fridays and my new favorite thing is the seafood ravioli. The place is "cozy" with small tables and it gets crowded at lunch, but the service is always great from the familiar smiling faces.

Excellent Reuben sandwich on toasted rye bread; kettle chips are a little hard on the teeth. Service was great, lunch time noise level was a little deafening. Overall great experience, will be back again at some other time of day.

I was hungry for Italian so I found this place when I did a search. Staff was very nice and food came out quickly for lunch. I had the chicken spaghetti pasta and it was delicious! This place has been there for a long time and they have a huge menu so it's a great place to bring a family or group.. I would definitely recommend this place!

Great neighborhood restaurant. Love the thin crust pizza. Good sandwiches. Meatballs. Calzone is my go to. The chocolate mousse cake and lemon are also very good (we normally get a few slices to go).

Doyle's is hands UP the best for an all inclusive menu suitable for all taste! There's also vegan options too. It's an historic staple in Oak Forest since before I was born, --and I just heard it's closing early next year😭. Soooo run, don't walk to make your heart and your stomach happy! Check the new hours though before you go. Everything is an enjoyable feast; but, my favorite is the Shrimp Creole with Mozzarella on top and ANY slice of homemade pie!!!! Soooooo delicious...like Grandma used to make, I promise!

Love the bread they bring to the table. I can tell it isnt home made but who cares. If you want thick spaghetti with red sauce that taste like a can of ragu mixed with ketchup, check them out. I dont recomend it but many people seem to like it. They have pretty good food tho. Taste like an american grandma would make. Not complaining, just giving yall a heads up. Service is real good too! They deserve 5 stars. :)

Eating at Doyle’s’s is like putting on a comfortable sweater and sitting down at your grandma’s kitchen table for dinner! They are known for their Italian food; simple, delicious and generous portions w/some killer garlic bread. BUT, their deli sandwiches are really good (Ruben is my favorite), as are the salads (love the Heartland w/fried chicken), the burgers (just don’t expect fries! Chips or potato salad ), and strangely enough, the GUMBO, OMG! And the pizza, thick or thin, 7-12- or 16” ALL good (the Works, for me!) Prices are very reasonable, although the service can sometimes be iffy, the food makes up for it. In a hurry? Call ahead and pick up at the window. Or sit on the porch and enjoy your dinner outside at this neighborhood institution since the ‘50’s!!

One of the best kept secrets in Houston ! Garlic bread to die for and their Potato soup is the best I've had. Salads are crisp and fresh, Lasagna is perfect size for lunch and always Hot all the way thru. Not packed like most restaurants and the wait staff has been there for ever so they know you when you walk in. 5 stars!

Why did I wait so long to come here (as it closes at the end of the year?)? Food was similar to home cooked meals, but reasonably priced and good quality. My son loved it!

This is the first restaurant I remember going to, it’s a part of my childhood. The pizza, the spaghetti, the garlic bread, the carrots and celery with ranch, it feels just like home every time. The best part of this restaurant has to be the smell when you walk in...If I could buy a Doyle’s scented candle I would.
