The only restaurant in Houston you can get REAL Puerto Rican food! Everything is delicious and made when you order, my favorite is the mofongo con carne frita. Can't go wrong with that š The owner Angel is a really nice, humble guy that treats you like family when you come in. I love coming here, a little bit of a drive but definitely worth it šš¼
Delicious Authentic Puerto Rican Food. For us that are away from the Island it's owner Angel make you feel like rite at home. I definitely recommend anyone go and eat here you will not be disappointed it's way worth the trip and at a great price...
I love this place. Great food, awesome owner, real Island Vibe & it feels like I'm in my grandmother house in Arroyo, PR.

Home away from home. Love the biftec empanado (chicken fried steak). Carne frita con mofongo. And the white rice with beans (habichuelas). With a Coco Rico. Love the place because you find people from the Island and share stories and thought. Angelo is a great man and friend.
Best dive in the area. Owner and staff are just the best.
A "hole in the wall." Packed full of people inside, even after lunchtime. You know what this means: the food is GOOD! Yes, it's a little bit of home, but what counts is how you stuff your stomach with it! You won't be sorry! You WILL return there. Guaranteed.
Tex-Chick is an authentic Puertorrican restaurant which has been serving Houston for decades. The food is delicious, the staff is super friendly. It feels like being back home.
Friendly staff and great food. Better then Puerto Rican restaurants in Chicago. I will be back.
The mofongo was perfect! Not dry and perfectly seasoned...

So authentic and delicious. The owner is gracious and friendly. Just like being back on the island!
The food was hot delicious! A wonderful family restaurant! Nice ambiance and the staff was very friendly and outgoing!
Ordered an empanadilla de carne (beef empanada) and the bistek encebollado con arroz blanco y habichuelas (steak with onions, white rice and beans). Everything came out fresh and the food was delicious. The owner is from Guanica, PR. An extremely humble man and the customer service from the rest of the employees was nothing short of phenomenal. This place is as authentic as it gets. I 100% recommend stopping by.
#JoeFoodTour super yummy local Puerto Rican food spot. #HowdyFromHouston #ThePropertyJoes #LivingLifeInHouston #Montrose
Great local restaurant! I enjoyed the mom and
pop atmosphere. It was cozy and made me feel
like I was at a family friends house eating dinner.
The food was yummy and authentic/healthy.
look forward to coming back. :)
Iām a half Puerto Rican who has been on a JOURNEY to find good Puerto Rican food in Houston. Itās here. I almost cried the first time I came here and had their yellow rice. I was feeling really home sick for my grandmaās cooking. She passed over 10 years ago. The food is just like I remember it. Deep. Savory. Full of love and delight. If you havenāt ever tried Puerto Rican food it doesnāt get any more authentic.
Place is legit Puerto Rican food. I donāt think you can get more authentic in Houston. Small dining room and youāre pretty much eating in someoneās kitchen so you feel like your part of the family. Worth the visit to try something new.
The place is TINY...but the food is good. The fritters were fresh and delicious. The alcapurrias were so good!! The only thing about the mofongo I got was that you could tell the plantains were more ripe, so it had a hint of sweetness- not too much, but enough that I could tell and it's my preference not to have it sweet at all. The carne frita was tender and flavourful. The service was like a typical cafeteria style from back home in Puerto Rico. This is not a place for large groups, there's only 2 tables that seat 4 people, 1 table for 2 and 1 that might seat 5 to 6 people. There isn't a parking lot, so you have to park in the streets nearby. I would recomend the place, just go with a patience attitude as the place may get full easily since there isn't much room. Their prices are pretty affordable, but they can start to add up easily when you order drinks and multiple fritters- I was a little shocked when I got my bill- but after seeing the breakdown of the cost it made sense. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. Over all, good food and friendly patrons. I would come back.
The experience is so welcoming, the people are amazing. The food is authentic Puerto Rican food and its delicious. Definitely bring the family.
Owner was very friendly and the food was delicious and fresh. The inside of resturant is very small and prices are a bit high ($42 w/tip for 2 for dinner) but we would come back.
šš½Ćngel, the native Puerto Rican owner, owns up to his name! I called to order from Pasadena, and he sweetly asked I call when 10 min. out so he could prepare the food as fresh as possible...You know youāre getting *love* as the main ingredient and itās going to have homemade vibes. I believe customer service can make or break a meal and also influence the taste; I smiled the entire time I ate the mofongo with the perfect amount of buttery garlic sauce that didnāt run out! I lived in PR and can confirm this is the legit spot. Also, there is such a charming hole-in-the-wall feel, again like being at home. The owner took the time to genuinely connect and I left getting both my stomach and spirit fed. For once, I have NO complaints on a restaurant review. Gracias šš½
Angel the owner was amazing always made sure we was ok and made us feel like family! The food was amazing so good. Canāt wait to go back
The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. The owners are friendly. The food is tasty. This was our first visit here and it was a great experience.
Small restaurant but friendly staff and home cooked puertorican food.
I'm still going to give them 5 stars. I just have one small complaint that I pray they will change.. Alcapurrias made from Yuca just aren't impressive enough. They would be much better made from the Plantains please and thank you.
