Very lovely restaurant. The waiter and waitress there were so kind and attentive, and I appreciated how they interacted with our toddler. The decor and atmosphere is very calm and cozy. All of the dishes we tried were delicious. The beef yakitori especially was very flavorful and tender.
Hidden gem. In town from San Antonio, and wanted some good sushi and noodle soup. Found this and went twice in two days. Absolutely fell in love with the homey feeling. Food was top notch. We ate everything we ordered. Stuffed. Jason is courteous as can be and so kind. We also had a female server, (she told me her name in Japanese) she was just as kind and genuine. She gave our 4yo the helper chop sticks. She loved them and ate her whole meal with them. Don’t skimp on this place. We will come back every time in Houston area.
Great experience! The atmosphere in this place is amazing and it looks like they have a really nice set up for groups. Customer service is second to none and the food was honestly the best I've had. I had the chicken fried noodles, assorted sushi platter and the volcano roll.
Dined here for the first time in years the other night and was impressed overall. The wait was longer than I would have expected for a Sunday night but we were given a free shrimp tempura for the trouble without saying a word. We also had some very yummy salmon and super white sashimi, an eel hand roll, ocean roll and L.A. roll. The latter was my fav though I could have done with less tempura crunch on top, or none at all. Solid sushi experience though.
Everything we ordered was absolutely stellar! 10/10 will go again! Our new go-to for sushi near home and office.
Matsu was a place I always passed by since I moved here a little over a year ago. I love sushi bars in general. It was a bit disappointing the bar itself was closed but it was fine. It was a bit slow. The menu is simple, listing the appetizers, sushi, bento box, chef specials, etc. Like any other place. What caught my attention was the aesthetic. Makes you feel like you're eating on the side of a street vendor in a calm neighborhood in japan in a late evening when its warm. To many it may not seem like much but I care for how it feels inside. The food was good, prompt, and warm as it should be. The yakisoba was delicious, i had some before homemade and this one came close. The tiger eye roll from the rolls I ordered stood out as the main attraction on the dish. It was crunchy, and delicious. Definitely recommend it. Prices are as expected but a lot of food for what I paid for. They took a bit on the appetizer, but quickly made up by offering a on the house item as compensation. Not saying it would happen every time but they do care about their guests. Thats why my rating was a 5 and not a 4. Overall, this feels like its a hidden place (like i mentioned before on how it feels inside) i had a great time eating wonderful food and service was great. Will be eating here again.
Love this place. The food is always fresh and the staff is kind. The Houston roll is so amazing.
I got the spicy octupus and I believe the Houston roll they both were amazing and they gave me a free order of pot stickers everything tasted great, the service was great, and the atmosphere
Service is great, the staff are actually Japanese. Definitely took me back to my Okinawa days.
Great quiet place, excellent food quality service. Took my granddaughter there for her 16th birthday. The food & service was awesome.
