A big thank you to the owner and staff of BabaluNY, along with dear friends for making my birthday festive, and being a year older a little less painful with their perfectly made Spicy Margarita. The three course Prix-Fixe dinners were fresh, plentiful and delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing authentic experience! These guys earned a great review. I went with my GF for the first time and the service was terrific! The staff was so genuine and kind, it made us feel comfortable and relaxed. The atmosphere was perfect. The staff made honest, genuine conversations and recommendations that were 100% on point. The food was mouthwateringly delicious! I would 100% recommend Babalu and will be back. Karl and Wendy took care of us at the bar. We went with the price fix menu, which filled us up, and then took some home. Mushroom Empanadas! MUST HAVE! Even if you don't like mushrooms (like me)! Hard to describe, it's just full of marinaded peppers and deliciousness with a dipping sauce. Avocado salad. Fresh and outstanding. Pernil. Outstanding flavor and so juicy! Cuban twist on banana foster for dessert was Very good. The chef came out of the kitchen to make sure our food was to our liking. Very kind staff! For drinks, we went with a rum flight and a tequila flight. The Rum flight was our personal favorite of the two and at the same time, try a Coconut cream margarita! It was great. The value of this place is tough to beat. The prices are great. This is one of those small yet, quality restaurants run by people who care about your experience. That makes me feel like going out is worth it. Babalu doesn't sell you food- they give you an experience.

Found this place from a recommendation on a FB group I'm in. I am so happy I told a friend of mine about it and we chose to pick it for our birthday dinner. We stopped in on a Thursday night and we're not disappointed. The decor to the staff to the food...everything was fantastic! It's small enough to make you feel like you're being catered to, but not sitting on top of each other. We started with an appetizer of Mofungo with Pernil (I could order that with a a salad and would be satisfied). Our mains were a roasted chicken dish and ropa vieja. I'd get everything again, but also want to try everything else on the menu. We got the tres leches cake and a hazelnut bread pudding with cafe con leche ice cream. We were so excited when these came out we forgot to take a picture. Both were delicious. I will definitely be back.

First time visiting Babalu and the experience made us wonder why we hadn't been there sooner. We had reservations for Saturday evening, which the restaurant staff called to confirm on Friday afternoon. The size of this place is pretty small (I could be miscounting but maybe only 10 tables and no large ones), which only added to the overall charm. The atmosphere was comfortable and inviting, and we loved the I Love Lucy theme, from the restaurant name to the TV over the bar to the large mural of Lucy and Ricci in the service area. When we were seated and the server came to introduce himself, he asked if it was our first time there and we were surprised to be given a $10 gift card for next time we come back.(We definitely will and what a great idea from the restaurant owner to start out with that.) We had looked at the menu online before we went and still weren't sure what to order because there were so many delicious sounding options. We shared the beet and roasted baby carrot salad that our server recommended (apparently a special that night) for an appetizer. I had the paella and hubby had the vaca frita. Both were flavorful and absolutely delicious. Loved the flavor and presentation of the pitcher of red sangria (worth it if there's two of you and you're having more than one each), which is served in a carafe bubbling with dry ice. For dessert we shared the flourless chocolate cake with ice cream. Everything was superb. As an aside, I noticed the menu had a note to ask about their vegan options. Our server was gracious, chill (in a good way) and not at all intrusive as we were having several relatively deep conversations as we ate. He checked in on us exactly the right amount. We had to wait a bit long for the dessert so he offered us an after dinner drink while we waited, which we definitely took him up on. As a side note, the final bill was surprisingly reasonable and we almost thought something must have been missing from the total. True value! Overall, we're thrilled we decided to try Babalu and will definitely be back. This restaurant will likely become an addition to our usual Huntington favorites that we visit again and again. Thanks for a great night!

We have been coming to this restaurant since it first opened and it just keeps getting better. The food and drinks are outstanding (addicted to the brunch Vaca Frita & eggs) and the staff is wonderful. Dog friendly heated patio seating is a big bonus as well. Cheers!

I have to commend BabaluNY for being open and servicing the Public during COVID19 Restrictions. Easy to see right off of New York Avenue servicing Huntington and the adjoining areas of Suffolk County. Parking on the street is available. Moderately clean facilities. Outdoor seating available with propane heaters. Nice staff. Reasonably priced. Credit cards accepted. Ropa Vieja, Cuban Sandwich, Tacos, and Pork Chops are recommended. Tres Leches for dessert is great!! We will definitely be going back.

We had an incredible experience and meal. It was my wife’s birthday and she’s Latina so I wanted a good and lively Latin spot. Babalu was perfect. They had a musician playing whom was great and not overwhelming. All the food was perfect and the owners even came out and checked on us. They’re wonderful and genuine people. We’ll be back very soon!

I went with my family to Babalu a few days ago and we absolutely loved the food. The restaurant is fairly new and the set up inside is really welcoming. There are lots of pictures and cuban paintings on the wall. The restaurant is very clean and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes on the menu. To start we ordered the special gazpacho soup and octopus. The soup was so refreshing and very tasty. The octopus was grilled perfectly and served on top of a delicious sauce that complemented the octopus in just the right way. For my entree I chose the brussel sprout salad and I asked to have beets added. What an amazing salad that was - the flavors of all ingredients and the way they were finely chopped was really well executed!!! I didn't know a salad could taste that great! My hubby ordered the shrimp tacos with the freshest guacemole and mango on top - what a great flavor combination! By the way, whether you love meat or are vegan, the menu will make any customer happy!
