Service was good. Food was good and pretty authentic Korean. I will go back.
Restraunt was clean with an extremely helpful and friendly staff. Food came out in timely manner. It was delicious and authentic and we're definitely going back to try (most) everything on the menu.
Authentic Korean restaurant. Food is like eating in Korea or Korean neighborhood of a major city. First, the soups are just like in Korea, spicy with meat on the bone. Intimidating at first, but so very tasty. Had the octopus today at lunch and it was great. Side condiments are good and very representative. My favorite is the kimchi like cabbage with peanut sauce.
Not the cheapest but absolutely the best.
So good!! My girlfriend moved to Huntsville about a year ago. Whenever I come in town we try a new restaurant. Garam is by far our favorite. We will defenitly eat here again; great food; good portions; and reasonably priced.
Yum!. I was pleasantly surprised by this amazing restaurant. My boyfriend and I both have been looking for some good Korean food (similar to Korean BBQ) and it was more than we expected. I ordered the short ribs at dinner and my boyfriend ordered the beef kabolbi (spelling?) We also ordered a seafood pancake and it was amazing and HUGE!!! I love Kimchi and their kimchi was really amazing and I inquired about it and the waitress told us it was made by the chef. The place was a little hard to find (since we're not from Huntsville I think) and the restaurant looks a little small but the atmosphere was pleasant. I would have thought there would be more people eating there on a weekend night, but only a few people there. Don't let that fool you though because the food is amazing! I think its just not known well.
Fresh Alternative to Buffet Korean. I'm a newby, not wise in the ways of authentic Korean. I've been three times, always at lunch. They give you 5 or 6 mini salads to share while you're waiting for the main dish, and each is fresh, flavorful, and (mostly) mild. The main dish was generous and delicious. My international lunchmate was gobbling up the choices and was very complimentary. It's true that the owners and staff talk to the locals who sometimes camp out there, but it didn't bother me at all. This seems like a great alternative to the standard buffet fare.
Good food, typical of Korean: weird and funky. The Bulgogi was especially delicious with perfectly cooked vegetables. Worth a visit if you like Korean.
The dining experience was fun, but the restaurant does have several flaws.
Cute little cafe with great prices! The interior of the restaurant was well decorated and super clean and the food was delicious! I highly recommend checking this place out if you are looking for a quick lunch stop! They even have plenty of nonspicy options for whimps like me!
I went for lunch and had the spicy chicken lunch box special. Everything was very delicious and well prepared. I felt that the price was reasonable for the portion size and the quality of the food. Service was a little slow but I was there for a lunch rush, And I was in no hurry, so I don't have any complaints there. My only complaint is that while I was there, the dining area smelled very heavily of a cheap air freshener. I'm not sure what the air freshener was trying to cover up, but it made it worse rather than better. The smell of their delicious food would have been far preferable to an air freshener.
Excellent spicy pork and chicken bibimbap, dumplings were superb. Sides were tasty as well and complemented the meal nicely. Our entrees were around the $14 mark and were well priced for the serving size. We will definitely be ordering from here again.
This is by far the best Korean food in Huntsville, and the only local place that serves corn cheese! Garam reminds me of a Korean restaurant that would be on Buford Highway in Atlanta.
Great service and every item I've had from the menu, including all of the Banchan's are incredible and freshly made. Highly recommend the dinner box specials as you get a large assortment of foods to try.
First they me eating here. It is owned by a very sweet and hard working family. We had the dumplings, Miso soup, Bulgogi, and Kalbi. It was all very good. The food came out fresh and hot. Our server gave us all very good food recommendations. If you have not been here before, give it a try.
I recently discovered that I love Korean food, so my fiancé and I tried out Garam. SO GOOD. When we left we were already discussing when we would come back.
Really good food! I was a bit timid at first, not being familiar with the cuisine, but everything I tasted was delicious!
Stopped by for dinner with my boyfriend and friend. This marks me eating at every Korean joint in Huntsville (as far as I'm aware). Garam is easily now one of my favorites, though I had good experiences at pretty much all of them except for I Love Korea, which was just adequate.
At any rate, Garam is fairly spacious and nicely decorated, a bit more of a luxurious feel than its competition. That's a plus, and hopefully to be expected, as I do feel the prices are a bit high for the portion sizes at Garam -- and therefore something must even that out!
The menu is of average size, but it has more "adventurous" options than many of the other Korean restaurants in town. I stuck with my favorite, dolsot bibimbap, with beef. My friend had the dupbap, which seemed similar to the dolsot bibimbap, but without the hot stone bowl and with slightly more of a soupy texture. I tried it, and it was very tasty! A bit sweeter than bibimbap. On my end of things, the bibimbap was also delicious. Very tender beef, and I liked all the veggies: bean sprouts, cucumber, and carrots. The rice all got super crispy (yay!); my only complaint was that there wasn't quite enough. The egg on top was delightfully runny, and there were two red sauces to choose from. I don't know enough about Korean food to say definitively what they were. They both could have been gochujang, or perhaps only one; they were similar in color and texture but one came in a dish with the banchan and the other came in a bottle. The bottled one was slightly thinner and spicier. I added both to my bibimbap and loved it!
While I'm thinking about the banchan (small plates) - not as many were given to us as you typically receive at other places in town, but they were all enjoyable. Kimchi was cool and crunchy, fish cakes were spongy and savory, seaweed was salty and sweet and flaky, and then the final dish...I couldn't identify the veggie, but it was definitely pickled, slightly spicy, and also quite tasty.
Lastly, my boyfriend had bulgogi, which he devoured and pronounced amazing. We were also all served a cup of tofu soup, which was mild, warm, and enjoyable.
Service was a bit lukewarm; she wasn't super friendly or welcoming when we came in, but seemed to warm to us over the course of the meal. Forks were offered, rather than me having to ask, which makes this anxious and incredibly unskilled chopstick non-user happy.
My only complaints are the sort of cool service and the smaller portion sizes that come with a higher price. Still, the food was so tasty and flavorful I'll absolutely return; just maybe get an appetizer next time, and/or go at lunch!
