Great people, awesome authentic home-style German food, big selection of all things German, including German language music and videos. The only thing to remember is that this is NOT a full-menu restaurant. It's more of a bakery with a modest (yet fabulous) cafe' in it. I must point out that the potato salad (warm German style of course) is to DIE for!! I could eat the potato salad as a meal, and would be completely happy with that! These folks even offer custom birthday and special occasion cakes. π
My advice is to try this place sometime. You won't be disappointed! π π©πͺ
Stopped in for the first time today and was completely blown away with the amounts of amazing looking food and top notch customer service. I probably spent an hour in this store just enjoying all of the foreign collectibles. This place has a very old school home style feeling and the pastries are absolute bliss. Everything I wanted I was able to sample and nothing was dry like your average pastry sections. I cannot wait to get back and try some more. Thank you everyone at Heidelberg Haus!

What a gem!! My husband was on a job near here a few weeks ago and a co-worker suggested they have lunch here. He went on and on about it when he got home from work that day. So yesterday he decided that I needed to experience in person what he was talking about. Oh, my!! Was I ever surprised and impressed! Nothing to complain about - the food was excellent. I had the currywurst and everything on the plate was wonderful - especially the potato salad! The menu selection is small but very adequate. Great service! Loved that you're setting in the actual store/bakery. So many collectibles/gift items to look at! And the bakery - wow!! After the wonderful meal, it was difficult to make a decision on desert but we ended up with a half pound variety of cookies. It would be worth the 45 mile trip just for the cookies alone! Looking forward to our next visit!

Best German food in central Indiana! My mother is from Eltmann, Germany, so I have grown up with German food all my life. This is by far the best German food (outside of my mother's kitchen) I have had here. The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff is great, and all of the food is outstanding!
It was so nice and cozy there today. We came in from a cold and drizzly day. It was so much fun to talk to new people and look at all the cultural pieces in the shop. It feels sort of like a gift shop / restaurant.
The staff are friendly and have great senses of humor. The dΓ©cor is amazing. My sis loves everything German so when she suggested it I rolled my eyes but after going in and trying the traditional German coffee. I think we've found a spot I'd like to actually frequent with her sometimes.

My favorite place in Indy. It's a magical wonderland inside, complete with delicious delectable of all varieties, and a sausage/brat selection that no restaurant can come close to. JJ, the owner, was there when I was there, the sweetest man ever, and he's been there since the beginning nearly 50 years ago. 50 years people, running this family own business. You just can't find that anymore, and I hope it never changes. It truly a wonderful place. π

I have been going here for over 40 years. When we moved here from Germany my mom took us at least once a month. I have had at least 20 birthday cakes from here. .always the best. Love the brats and potatoe salad #1 on the menu. When I moved to Florida for 10 years I tried several German bakeries and they never came close to Cafe Heidelberg. Thank you for staying open and staying the same all these years. Love love love Cafe Heidelberg! Ps I have always had great service and love shopping here as well.
Lots of great, authentic German grocery products. The baked goods (we had the Black Forest Cake and the Raspberry Cheesecake Cake) were delicious - we look forward to going back for lunch sometime!
The people there were friendly, attentive, and extremely helpful. Some were even from Germany, giving it an authentic vibe.

Great German food, pastries, and many other German items. Kitschy and quaint ambiance, but cool, too! The kind of place where you can sit, eat, and converse over a cup of strong coffee. Service is fast and friendly, prices are really decent, too!

I cannot begin to express how much I love this place! Authentic German food and pastries brought to you by Juergen (Jay Jay). I always stop in here to show friends, get some Currywurst, and buy a collectible gnome for my family. Iβve been in here countless times, and the staff are just so sweet and welcoming. Jay jay even spoke some German with me and my friend, as well as gifted us one of his radio CDs from his German radio station in Indy. Will always stop here when Iβm nearby!
Canβt say enough good things about this spot , took my kiddo so they could use their German language skills and I was so impressed, it was awesome to see the smile on my kiddos face! We will absolutely be back!

Gorgeous place, with a bright German authentic atmosphere, in every tiny detail, with a cofee smell and taste of crispy apple Bavarian strudel, homemade... Like a life museum of German inspiration, with a German mood, colors, smiles of waitresses...

This place is unique! All sorts of interesting German goods, lovely desserts, a simple menu of authentic German fair, and fantastic service to make you feel welcome. We had lots of fun and a great lunch.
A fun place. Great German food. Friendly staff who will let your kids practice their German with them. Favorites are the butter crust bread, baked pretzels, ALL cakes, sweets, and cookie assortments. Can't go wrong.
Such a cute little place. I had a great time having coffee with some girlfriends and trying one of every cookie. I also noticed this place is wonderful for children. Every little person I saw had the biggest smile on.
The only bad thing about this place is there are no signs to tell you to either wait to be seated or to seat yourself. But the people are friendly and the food was good.
