I've been driving by Peppy Grill for quite some time so tonight I thought I'd give them a try. I walked in not knowing what to do. The staff was very friendly handed me a menu and I was told to grab a seat. The waitress came over took my drink order and when she came back I placed my food order. I got a patty melt and soon as I smelled those onions on the grill I knew it was going to be good. A few minutes later I had my food. YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Yes I was a good girl and ate all my food. Seems like this is a pillar in the Fountain Square area, other diners were regular customers based on the conversations I was hearing. Great food, great customer service, menu had good comfort food, and close enough to my work and home. It's a win win for me! Would I recommend Peppy Grill? That would be a yes. Will I be returning? That would be another yes. This is a no frills, greasy spoon diner. Stay away from the chain restaurants and give the small businesses a try I think you'd be pleasantly surprised. Did I mention they are 24 hours? Great job Peppy Grill. They must be doing something right to be in business for over 60 years.

The jalapeno poppers are good. They have an outlet at almost every table! Convenient napkin, straws and condiments right at your table side! The cheese on the grilled cheese wasn't melted in fact it was served room temperature warm...And they put three slices of cheese on it.. Curly frys were nice and hot. Good biscuits and gravy. Onion rings are good. And if you change your side its not a .35 cent up charge like the menu says; they charge you full price for a new side... Wont be back.

Hole in the wall restaurant with cheap food at any time as they are open 24/7. Service is generally very slow so Don't stop in if you're in a hurry. Don't expect to be impressed with the food but if you like hole in the wall places, this place is for you.

Probably the worst diner in Indy - after the renovation. If they're permanently closed, it's for the best. Used to be legendary, and that was a decade ago.
Here are places you should try instead...
Steer-In on 10th. Unlike Peppy, they haven't ever screwed up a cheeseburger or forgotten to retherm hash browns. They make their own corned beef.
Jimmy's Diner on Shelby. Just down the road. The building is locally owned by the husband and wife who work there every day. They make a great country fried steak, a pretty good Texas toast, and the prices are reasonable.

We went inside and waited for 10 minutes and no one ever came into the dining room.

If y'all have ever been here in the 90s and want some nostalgia, don't bother. The wait staff is very disconnected with the guests, quiet, don't greet or even give a simple hello, sit on their phones, stingy with creamer lol. My mother worked here in the 90s and all the wait staff was kind and upbeat and talkative. You can make the same food at home for cheaper, better too. Canned gravy for biscuits and gravy, and almost everything else is frozen, I went for atmosphere and nostalgia but got neither and not great food.

Typical American diner. Small, quick place. The food is nice nice, not epic.

Food was good until we found a hair in the hash browns. Was totally nice and asked for a new order. The waitress then told me not without paying for it. I took her $10 tip from our $22 order and ordered a new order of hash browns and 2 eggs over medium. Told her to keep the rest of her tip as she rung it up.
