Stopped in for lunch to satisfy a Gyro craving recently. Ordered the half Gyro / salad combo. The Gyro meat was fresh off the spit and tasty. Service was good too. The ambience could have been better, but we'll pass judgement on that as it was a Wednesday just past lunch hour. With such a fantastic corner location with ample Windows; I'd like to see a place like this have a small portable kitchen and spit in the front window for the lunch crowd who wants to know they can get served quick or take orders to go. They could also service the late night B-Rip party scene with that concept. I'll be back when the craving hits again. Worth a visit!
Gourmet Gyros in SoBro. Sometimes I just want a plain old gyros sandwich, like what you can get at King Gyros in Bloomington or Mr. Greek Gyros in Chicago. Sam's spicy gyros sandwich is on an entirely different level, and it adds a nice dimension to my gyros universe.
They soak the meat in spicy sauce and actually stuff it inside the pita (as opposed to wrapping the pita around it like they do at many places), so a nice puddle of sauce forms in the bottom of the pita. This makes for a really nice finish, since you're not just eating plain bread at the end. Your hands also stay clean if you're careful and don't blow out the side of the pita in the middle of the sandwich. The meat is abundantly juicy and flavorful. Yum.
The cucumber sauce is good, and they put plenty on. The cucumbers are diced, so you get a nice bite and more cucumber flavor than when they're shredded. It also tastes like there's some dill in there. Just enough to add a nice touch of flavor.
This is a sandwich you eat one deliberate bite at a time, savoring the mix of flavors and textures in each bite. It's definitely an experience. Highly recommended.
We also tried the falafel, which was tasty but failed to impress like the gyros did. Finally, we had the saganaki. It tasted fairly standard, but the portion was large, which was a plus.
Best Gyros In Town, Hands Down. One of the reasons I wished I lived in the Broad Ripple area. I tell you, it should be easy to get this stuff right. But their cucumber sauce is absolutely, positively, the best I've ever had and it complements the spicy gyro perfectly. Meat is never dry, and the pita is fluffy and a pocket (much preferred in my opinion to a flatbread sandwich)
Oh yeah, their hummus and schwarma are to die for also.
One of the best gyros I have ever eaten in indiana. The sandwich is full of meat. Try it with Tahini sauce and you will never regret. Reasonable prices.
Sam's Gyros Review. 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Sam's Gyros has some of the BEST gyros that I've ever eaten. They use authentic cucumber-yogurt sauce, and the typical sliced beef or lamb on the rotisserie, but the quality is very high. Ask for the spicy gyro--they add some cayenne in the marinade and gives it a kick. Prices are reasonable, and the place is quite. Order out and enjoy some TV. Only drawback is they are a big greasy, and you'll have to ask for sides of lettuce, tomatoes, and whatever else. But very delicious, otherwise.
Excellent, but slightly pricey!!!. I went this past monday with 2 friends after a studio rehearsal, and order a full gyros spicy with the cucumber sauce. The gyro was very very spicy and delicious, and the cucumber sauce tasted fresh and homemade with nice sized chunks of cucumber inside. It came in a Pita pocket and was packed very well. I had a soda on the side and the meal came to twelve bucks including tip. A bit pricey for a sandwich and drink, but nonetheless a delicious gyro, and I will most definitely be back.
Good Food, Great Price. I make it a point to try all the local gyro spots in any city I go to, as this is one of my favorite foods. Sam's Gyro's in Broad Ripple is a good value for what you get. I got a full gyro for $7.00, and it turned out to be way too much food. This is because it is served in a pita, making the half order ($4.50) equivalent to a standard rolled pita-gyro. I had the spicy gyro, which is cooked with peppers. Although it was a bit greasy, and the tzatziki sauce was only on the top layer, it was still enjoyable and very well priced. I look forward to trying the other dishes offered by Sam's.
I agree with most of what the other reviewers are saying. Sam's is spot on with their tasty gyros. Do yourself a favor and try one!
Best Mediterranean Food In Town. I would eat there every day if I could!
Sam's has the best gyros in town. We come here weekly!
I stopped over here for lunch the other day and ordered a whole spicy gyro, and when I tell you this is the best thing since sliced bread, I mean it! It was so juicy and meaty (pause) the spices and that fresh cucumber sauce just goes together beautifully. I portion of fries could be a little bigger, but I’m not complaining. Now that I’m thinking about it, I just may head back up there to grab dinner tonight
I walk by here a lot and never really see people in here (and I saw wildly inconsistent reviews) so I decided to give it a try for lunch one day. Honestly, its pretty good. Nothing earthshattering, but if you want a fast, cheap gyro place with good portions and tasty food this is your place. I paid 7.50 (before tip, after tax) for a, frankly, gigantic chicken gyro wrap that I scarfed for lunch. It was well seasoned, not too greasy, an abundance of onion, tomato, and cucumber, and loaded with meat. Again, this is your quintessential fast gyro place. The food is tasty, its cheap, and you get plenty of it. If I have any criticism its that I probably wouldn't eat-in, as its a bit dingy inside, but who eats-in at a gyro place anyway? Again, I have seen that some reviews are very very critical of this place, maybe it depends on who is staffed - but I had a pretty good experience. Next time I have a gyro craving I'll probably stop by.
Incredibly friendly customer service. Staff was helpful and patient with me as it was my first time trying gyros. He also threw in two falafels so I could try them. Food was really good and I’d definitely recommend this place to others!

A neat little Gyro shop in the heart of the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood. They make some pretty decent gyros and the service was nice and friendly too.
They don’t seem to be getting much business so I’m thankful we made it here.
Overall, if you’re a gyro person and you’re in the area, this place is worth checking out.
This is a great little hole in the wall restaurant, I will be back for sure. The food was amazing and authentic. We visited at 4pm and were served right away. It is not a glamorous location and the AC was minimal, one chef/server/host, but this didn't bother us. The food was reasonably priced, hot and prompt to arrive. I ordered the falafel sandwich and kids shared a gyro, we were more than satisfied! Particularly recommend the greek fries, crispy and tasty and doused in crumbly feta, olive oil and oregano for only $3.50 - will order these again for sure.
I enjoyed it, if you like gyros check it out. They have a spicy gyro. I enjoyed the food!!! 😄😄
The spicy gyros are the best gyros I've ever had, normal gyros were good but spicy was spectacular. The thin sliced meat and spices with the cucumber sauce is simpler than others I've had but it proves simple is sometimes better. It's served inside the pita bread which I prefer.
The lamb kabob was good as well. Quite a bit of rice with chunks of meat and different vegetables. I personally would prefer more meat and vegetables but it definitely isn't needed. With the rice it filled me up.
My girlfriend usually gets the chicken shawarma which she has let me try. Smaller chunks of marinated chicken and she usually gets the cucumber sauce. I have gotten the beef shawarma which was on equal ground as the chicken, both were good.
I've also gotten a few different appetizers and sides. The hummus and saganaki being my favorite appetizers, the Greek fries are good for a side.
Lastly, I've tried the baklava which was an excellent way to end the meal. I'm not a huge fan of cinnamon and this was perfect for me. Not too much, just enough.
I love the food here and hope to continue eating here well into the future!
This place is great to get in a pinch! This place is very well priced and has pretty good food. If you are expecting traditional Greek then don't expect it here. They do have very good hummus and pita though that you can get for during the week for lunches for your kid or you at work. They do not seem to have the best sanitation based off of covid standards. I would definitely check it out though!
My wife and I really enjoyed the experience. Delicious food and friendly staff. I brought my wife here to have her experience a real gyro and she was very impressed. We were recommended the spicy gyro which was awesome. I'm not a fan of fries, but their fries were very nice. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would recommend giving Sam's Gyros a shot if you are in the area!
Hands down the best falafel I’ve ever had. An employee told me they make it in the traditional middle eastern way, and it shows. I got the falafel sandwich and it was excellent. I wish there were more topping options to go on the sandwich, but that didn’t stop me from going 2 days in a row.
My daughter wanted to try gyros for the first time. We ordered from here and WOW!!!! so YUMMY!!! was piping hot and so much food. $11 bucks for both of us and we each had plenty!!! Definitely will return ☺️
