Ate the first meal ever at this restaurant last Friday with my parents sister and wife. Everyone loved the food. The burrata was insane. Smoked butter chicken incredible. My mom claimed the salad was the best she's ever had. Cocktails were on point. This place should do very well.

What a delicious meal we had here! We started with two small plates - the grilled shrimp and the zucchini with the charred lemon yogurt --then shared the halibut with grilled corn. Every bite was amazing.

Loved the cocktails & the food, we had oysters, pimento toast, duck confit & Mussels - as well as an absolutely delicious dessert! Great food, ambiance & service was Top Notch!!!

I had dinner at The Vanguard with my husband this evening to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. Everything was perfect - the ambiance, the staff (Holly was excellent!), the cocktails and of course the food! Highly recommend the butter smoked chicken with pesto root vegetables. We will definitely be back and welcome this restaurant to the neighborhood we call home, Broad Ripple!

This is the absolutely best restaurant in Broad Ripple, if not all of indy. I love the always changing menu and STEVE SLAYS behind the bar! Love this place we go every chance we get! #steveslays

Just had dinner at The Vanguard with our supper club - the food was wonderful, service was great! Citrus Salad was the bomb and the Mediterranean Chicken was exceptional! I'll be back!

The Vanguard was pretty darn awesome. I wasn't planning on going there. I was actually looking for a place to park. I'm so glad I went inside. The smoked wings and pimento cheese will blow you away. I can't wait to go back.

The Cajun shrimp appetizer and butter-smoked chicken entree were both amazing! My husband says the ribs were good, too, and that the meat was so tender it fell off the bone. Will be back again.

Started with a masterfully crafted Bulleit Rye Manhattan. The appetizer special was a Chinese tamale wrapped in spinach leaves which was delicious. Nexr had the arugula salad, which was wonderful. For the main course, we split the fried chicken. I'm a big eater and there was plenty. Date cake and coffee for dessert. Excellent food. Attentive and pleasant wait staff. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience.

The new look is perfect! I love the openness of the bar and restaurant. I'm glad they kept some of the favorite spirits and the food menu offers a nice variety. Definitely order the shrimp the sauce is amazing.

Butter Smoked Chicken was AMAZING! Everybody in our group of 9 loved their food. Not a crumb left on anybody's plate. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY!

The food was AMAZING. We went because Google recommended it to my friend and it was absolutely on point. Food came fast, selection was good. They have a shot and drink for $9 special going on, which I think we can all appreciate and get on board with. The staff was super nice and checked in on is to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. We'd go back.

The food here was so phenomenal. And the drinks were amazing. The ‘Sometimes it Snows in April’ drink comes with its own smoke. And the staff is very personable.

We finally made it to Vanguard, and we were not disappointed. In fact I think my boyfriend said "this was even better than I expected" at least half a dozen times. The craft cocktails, food, and service were on point. We shared the smoky wings, greens salad, braised short rib, and bread pudding, and we enjoyed everything. We'll definitely be back!

The venue hosted my wife and I’s baby shower and it was a great experience from start to finish. Kayla was great, communication was consistent and the space provided everything we needed!

Great food and so much flavor! Portions sizes were plenty for all with the devour menu! Wait time to be seated with a reservation was a bit longer than preferred but they took care of us well once we were seated. The gumbo was to die for!! Will definitely be back and try sitting at the bar.

Delicious food! Crazy good service!!! For example... I ordered a cocktail and they didn’t have ingredients to make it and the general manger went across the street and bought ingredients in order to be able to make it!!! They went above and beyond and when you are a father of three kids under the age of 5 you don’t have childcare for date night very often and they made this date night awesome!!! I absolutely recommend this stellar restaurant!! I wish I could give 10 stars!

Finally, a farm to table restaurant with generous portion sizes! Celebrating local food should emphasize abundance, and from entree size, to wine pours, this place isn't skimping. Everything was delicious too. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town.

Loved the food and the atmosphere! The chef is great! We got the Venetian lasagna and shrimp scampi! For dessert we had salted caramel chocolate tarte w/vanilla ice cream and vanilla bean panna cota w/pecan brittle. So good! We'll definitely be back! :)

Good food in Broad Ripple. My wife got the fried chicken, which she loved, and I got the ribs. Both are recommended. The service was also solid. Located in the old Usual Suspects space in Broad Ripple, this place appears to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

We decided to try Vanguard after reading favorable reviews of the restaurant. Our experience at Vanguard exceeded the positive reviews. Our waiter, Henry, was fantastic! His recommendations were spot on! Our food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was prompt without our feeling rushed. At the end of the meal, the manager surprised us with a complimentary banana bread pudding dessert. We will absolutely return to the Vanguard!

Vanguard is becoming one of my fav restaurants in the city! The staff is friendly and attentive. Their drink specials are affordable and diverse. The bartender Scott is so quick and helpful! The food is delicious. You don't get a lot of food for the price but the quality of the food outweighs the quantity. Portion size is why this review only got 4 stars. Now don't get me wrong I'm not expecting an all you can eat buffet, but can I get two pieces of chicken w my chicken and waffles?! Sunday's are my fav time to go. From 2-6p they have The Brunction. Two DJs spinning a variety of music and that makes my heart happy. The space is inviting and lux. They have a full bar. The music they play is chill and low enough to have a great conversation with friends. I recommend you try the Vanguard at least once. Located just off the main strip in Broadripple above the Casba. Come enjoy some good food and a nice cocktail!

Before I start, want to make sure that I say this was Valentines Day. And it was what you’d expect for a newly-remodeled, higher end, romantic restaurant located in the ‘fun hip part’ of Indianapolis. (e.g. not ‘can you afford to eat here?’ Mass Ave). We started with oysters, big hit with my wife. Especially because she’s kinda picky on sea foody items. Thumbs up. And, wait for it, I had to try the popcorn grits. Oh I hope the NOLA gods don’t strike me down. I had popcorn grits one other time, ironically not that long ago, and had was understatement. Folks, I would highly recommend. My wife and I go to the Big Easy several times a year, I know my grits. Wife had oysters entree, again she loved it. I had the pork chop with some Spanish flair. Initially, I thought it was a little salty & very tender, but after I put my glasses on I realized it was fat. Hey, for fat it wasn’t bad. After working my way to the meat, it wasn’t bad. A little dry but flavorful. The drink menu is fun & encourage people to have some fun. The best part was the owner, Bill, stopped by our table. The place was packed & loud, and he was clearly horse from a long busy day. Most owners on nights like this are bouncing around like they’re running a daycare, not Bill. Very polite & extremely engaging. That kind of clam only comes from an owner that has a lot of trust in his staff. It’s a bit on the pricey side. We’re going to make reservations for a less chaotic night because eating out is as much for atmosphere as it is the food.

It was perfect. The ribeye melted in your mouth, the creamed kale was to die for and the mashed potatoes were real. The cabernet held its own against everything and the bourbon date cake was the perfect end. We just happened into it and we're very glad to have found it. The menu changes quarterly so we're looking forward to the next opportunity to try them out.
