Oh my lord!!! My folks are here for a visit and we splurged on some culinary theatre at Baroncini's, and boy did they give our tastebuds a show! I have been scoping out Iowa City restaurants to try for a long while, and Baroncini's topped the list. Not only is the menu full of beautiful and inspired ideas, but Chef Baroncini worked in Verona and in a two Michelin star restaurant there. I am no more than a novice in learning food, cooking, and fine dining, but the skill and finesse really shows! Each dish is a work of art for the eyes and especially the taste buds. Very highly recommended!!

Favorite restaurant in Iowa City! Chef is a genius! We have enjoyed everything on the menu. Mother recent food and wine dinner was amazing. Chef Gianluca is a culinary genius! Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great menu and wines from Italy. Had privilege to attend Chef Gianluca's cooking classes, and learned so much and received amazing recipes. Can you tell I love Baroncini's? ���

It’s not often I eat at a place and order an entree that I can’t pronounce but last nights visit to Baroncini Ristorante Italiano just changed that. I can’t believe its been there for 6 years and I’ve just now heard of it. If you haven't; either you need to try it. Immediately upon entry the decor was warm and inviting, elegant without being stuffy. I guess you could even say romantic. We were greeted warmly and throughout the evening our service was spectacular. I just love an engaged and knowledgeable wait staff. It’s not often a salad makes one of my reviews because if a salad is not included with my meal I usually don’t order one. Theirs was not and my wife wanted to try one so we ordered their panzanella salad Traditional Italian bread salad with bread, tomato, onion, spinach, extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar and basil. I know salads are usually “light” even with the bread it was super light and refreshing. It has now joined the list of just two or three places that I can think of I’ll make an exception for where I will order a salad. Usually when I try a new restaurant I rely heavily on the recommendation of the staff and when I asked our server what they were known and what was her favorite the first thing out of her mouth was the ANGNOLOTTI DI CARNE now I still can't pronounce it but she was able to roll it off her lips like she grew up in Italy my reply was I’ll have what she said. It consisted of a house made agnolotti pasta stuffed with beef and parmesan in a light sage and brown butter sauce. She had me at brown butter surprisingly it was the hint of sage that was the star of the dish. I was able to steal a few bites of my wife’s LASAGNE ALLA BOLOGNESE which was like no other Lasagne I’ve ever had as it had a crunchy panko type topping which provided a textural difference rarely found in a lasagne. I always get excited when a review contains the words “I had the best ever” Baroncini Ristorante Italiano’s TORTA AL MASCARPONE cheesecake is hands down the best cheesecake I’ve ever had. It was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Caramelizing the mascarpone was absolutely brilliant, it was like the most decadent creme brulee you’ll ever meet or eat but it was cheesecake? The fresh berries and strawberry sauce added a freshness to this amazing desert. The meals I remember the most are the ones where my stomach is just plain happy afterwards and mine was happy for hours after leaving Baroncini Ristorante Italiano. I think I also had a restaurant first as when we were leaving one of the staff said chow! We can't’ wait to return, if for nothing else the mascarpone cheese cake

Absolutely every meal has been amazing. The staff is friendly and great with recommendations and the chef frequently comes out front to talk to guests and check on their experience. Plan ahead and make reservations as they are a hot spot. You get top quality food/ingredients, service, and ambiance- for those that complain about pricing- you get what you pay for and I think you more than get your money's worth here.

Everything from ambiance to service to presentation was impeccable. We came here for our first anniversary dinner and were absolutely blown away. Props to Becca - our server - who was just superb. Thank you so much for a fantastic evening.

My husband and I just left Baroncini's on our last night in Iowa City, just a short walk from our stay at hotelVetro.... I went with the creamy polenta appetizee with mushroom and truffle oil and pork cheek for my main course. My biggest regret is that I couldn't fit dessert. The servers were gracious and the atmosphere was small, cozy and elegant!

I love it!!! Food is out of this world. I had never eaten baby octopus before. It was delicious the way it was prepared. Portions are a little bit on the small side, but you always leave satisfied.

A must dine. You won’t find a more authentic, affordable and delicious Italian restaurant outside of Chicago or the East Coast. Amazing old school ambiance, food and service. Awesome location, urban feel.

Wow. What a gem! If you're looking for Italian in Iowa, look no further! Not to mention if you're gluten-free like me, the staff was very knowledgeable about substitutions and can help you find something to eat. The highlight of my visit was a crustless cheesecake.

I came here with my best friend yesterday and had an absolutely wonderful experience! I loved the ambience inside the restaurant and the service was amazing as well. This is by far the most authentic and affordable Italian restaurant I’ve been to in the Iowa City area. The food tasted really good too! 10/10 recommend!

The lasagna was sooo good! Husband said Linguine was very good just the right amount of spice to make it fun to eat with a dry red wine. We will go back if we can get a seat next time in town. Need to make reservations early for a seat.

You won't find better, more authentic Italian in the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area. Cozy atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, well crafted cocktails, and an extensive wine list featuring dozens of Italian wines all make for a perfect night out. And don't skip dessert!

Our server was great and the service was exceptional! Very knowledgeable and kind. Our server nerded out about whiskey with my husband and made his trip extra special. The food was absolutely stellar. Highly, highly recommend!

Cannelloni was amazing - little bit of red sauce to balance out the mostly bechamel sauce. Also got the black truffle and mushroom tagliolini con tartufi cream sauce 👌 All house made pastas. Would recommend getting lemoncello shots after to help digestion- they’re delicious
