Superb service by Peter Stolp and other staff. The crab cakes were excellent. Ribeye steak was prepared to perfection. The risotto was slightly under cooked and the lobster bisque slightly tart (too much lemon or vinegar) and there was barely a taste of lobster. Substitution was made with no fuss and the French onion soup was fine. The double chocolate brioche bread pudding was very good. My guest had a wonderful meal, with no complaints of any kind. Highest marks goes to Mr. Stolp for the most professional service we have received in this city. Bravo to him!
We dined at Joseph’s to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Our servers, Peter and Alex, made excellent recommendations throughout the meal. My daughter said the melt in her mouth fillet was one of the best steaks she had eaten in her life. The seafood bisque and chocolate cake were pretty awesome too! We enjoyed dinner so much, we returned the following evening to sample the crab cakes and Joseph burgers!
We went for my wife's birthday. Everything was excellent, the food, the drinks, the service. Our waiter (Martin I believe) was great and walked us through the menu as it was our first time. We will be back and recommend it to everyone.
If I could give more that 5 stars I would!!! We loved everything about this restaurant from our server Martin to the drinks, the ambiance and of course the food!!! Delicious, fantastic definately top notch all the way around!!
We went for my daughters birthday. The food was fabulous, filet and scallops were like butter. Our waiter Peter was one of the best we have ever had when dining out! Expensive but worth it for special occassions!

We loved our Date night dinner at Joseph's. We ordered the prosciutto parma dish as an appetizer. It came with crisp slices of toast, Brie cheese, prosciutto and missions figs. We paired it with a refreshing glass of chilled unpacked Chardonnay. For our entrees my husband ordered the mushroom tortellini while I ordered the steak salad. Both the entrees were amazing. We also love the ambience and our very attentive waitress. Definitely going back!
My husband and I went to Joseph's when I was 40 weeks pregnant for a final date, just the two of us. Our server was exceptional, everything he suggested tasted amazing, especially the whipped potatoes as a side. He was also very attentive. We got a Porterhouse steak cooked to perfection. One of the best steakhouses in town.
My husband and I stopped at Joseph's to celebrate our anniversary. Despite having dinner in Iowa City quite frequently, we had never been to Joseph's. Everything we had was excellent! Our service by our waiter, Peter, was impeccable. We will certainly be back in the future.
My wife and I tried Joseph's because it was rated #1 on LocalsLoveUs. We were NOT let down! For starters, the wine list is great. The salad had some of the best dressing either of us had ever had and the steak was...unforgettable. Also, the ambiance and lighting are very cool yet super comfortable and the service was awesome.
We look forward to coming back.
Had Mother/Son date night last evening. Food � was fabulous and our waiter Peter was incredible! Peter guided wine � selection and food � selections with ease & confidence.

The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection. The hash brown potatoes bake was out of this world and words can not describe the chocolate cake. Incredible. First time in Iowa City. The hotel I stayed at recommended it when i said I wanted great food at a local restaurant, not a chain.
One of the best restaurants I have been to in downtown Iowa City. Close to hilton hotel where I stayed for over a month. Had gone there for the first time with my coworkers and I loved the place, service and oh boy the food. Peter who served us was very welcoming and suggested few drinks and dishesh with charm. He has great ability to keep the customer engaged and happy. He suggested A different style of Margarita and I fell in love with it so much, that I have had it many a times since then. Chicken Marsala almost gave me foodgasm and so did the onion rings. They have a bar outside where I had a few drinks, Thanks to Peter and Hannah for their great customer service and I shall visit Josephs again soon.

Seeking something a little finer than the normal before a show at the James Theater, I wandered in Joseph Steakhouse unsure of what expect. The hotress kindly offered me a seat at the bar, since all the tables were reserved. My mistake, honestly wasn't sure what I was walking into.
The bartender whose name I never got, was a complete gentleman and made wonderous cocktails and checked in every now and then. After the main course he jokingly ask if he should even ask how everything was. Haha, like he needed to ask. The food was simply divine and made me miss my home away from home Chicago.
Wish I brought a book, the bar was so cozy I could have sat there for hours reading and sipping another cocktail.
Thank you Joseph's, you made a pre-show evening all that more wonderful. I'm sure this mongrel will return when the downtown calls me back.

Yas! This place is a gem 💎 I went with my husband and ordered the 16 ounce steak and it was so juicy and tender and flavorful! Will definitely come again.
Amazing first visit for my birthday just the other night. Aubrey was a fantastic server for our table. The filet was so good it practically melted in your mouth! Fantastic calamari appetizer as well! Delicious wine. Cool atmosphere…really enjoyed the full experience. Will be back for another occasion in the future definitely!
Nice high end dining. The onion rings are the best I've ever had. The tomahawk pork chop was large and cooked perfectly. Sides were well matched to the entree. Good service.
