When I visit High Ground I love the atmosphere! As a non coffee drinker I still find myself always suggesting this to my friends as a great place to meet up for lunch! The Cuban and Strawberry spin salad are AMAZING!!!
What's not to like about this stunningly good cafe - fantastic sandwiches, great beer selection, wonderful coffee and open and inviting atmosphere for meeting or studying. The best of the best in Iowa City.

Great mix on the food menu, especially simple favorites with a twist. I'm talking specifically about the BLAT. Just adding avocado to the simplicity of the BLT makes for a great dish.

stopped here on a cross country road trip. good coffee. they offer vegan and gluten free pastries — although not the best tasting, definitely nice to have the options. the atmosphere is very good, would definitely study here

This is just the best coffee shop in IC. The coffee is great (tons of different options too), everything is fairly priced, the music is always good, and every employee is considerate and patient.
I had the BLAT on whole wheat toast. It was delicious. My husband had the Weggie sandwich on whole wheat toast and it was also delicious. Bright, open, beautiful cafe.
Went one morning, wednesday 0730, with a coworker to experience the pour over french style coffee. Since school is out for awhile the shop was quiet and inviting to sit and enjoy a quality cup of coffee. I chose to drink the pour over cream bean, not on the downloadable menu, with a shot of expresso. The chocolate chip cookie purchased assisted in offsetting the bitterness of the coffee. The store is more than a coffee shot and has a robust menu of teas, beers, food, wines and much more. The taste is better than any chain coffee shop I have been too. You get what you pay for and I spent around $7 for my morning. One 16oz cup kept me going for hours, very strong. Friendly service and staff, and I would revisit and try another flavor any day of the week!
Great service, nice ambiance for a variety of purposes whether it's to study, catch up with friends, go on a date, relax or what have you.
Great coffee, great vibe, service is not great but not terrible. They serve you, they do their job, they're just not particularly amazing or kind about it. (Not to me, anyway, although fem presenting friends of mine have gotten free pastries and coffee from the male baristas). That aside, worth it just for good coffee and comfortable outdoor seating.
