My to go lunch place if I feel for Chinese food. It's because of their quick service and price. China star probably one of the best Chinese place in Iowa City area considering price someone will pay for decent quality/amount of food.
One important thing to consider they ONLY ACCEPT CASH. So be prepared for that. Their service can be bit more friendlier and nicer. But I can't complain much. They don't smile at me or make much conversation, but they bring the food in my table. I also love their tea and red chilli sauce. Both are free!
I love China Star, by far the best Chinese food place in Iowa city! I really like their Shrimp Mei Fun and Shrimp Egg Foo Young 🤤 When I’ve had a long, hard day there’s nothing that makes me happier than China Star.
I order delivery from China Star all the time and they have yet to get my order wrong. They always get to my house before the estimated delivery time and the food is hot and delicious. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and it is the best Chinese food in the Iowa City area.
Great food. Authentic Chinese dishes were awesome and taste just like food in China. Mainly Sichuan flavor but a lot of other genres as well. American Chinese are at a reason price and really tasty. Recommend lunch specials. Flavor is a bit too strong for American Chinese dishes tho.
I LOVE CHINA STAR! let me just tell you that not only is the staff the nicest people in the entire world, but the moo-shu pork is actually the closest thing to heaven on this earth. If I could live the rest of my life and only eat at one place- I would pick China Star. Give them all your money. It's definitely the best Chinese food in all of Iowa City, if not the world.
