This was our first time at the Boathouse and they did not disappoint. From the friendly hostesses and wait staff, to the complimentary champagne when our waitress overheard it was our 20th anniversary and then the of course the delicious appetizers and main course. Wish we’d had room for dessert because the creme brûlée sounded amazing. We’ll definitely be back.

I like it alot better than any of the places in Shem Creek. Service was friendly, food was delicious, atmosphere good, view great. I highly recommend it. I will be back.
Very good food. Conch fritters were nice and crisp. The scallops were done perfectly. I was craving grits, and Mac and cheese both done well. We will be back! We sat outside and the heaters kept us comfortable.
Great food. Perfect ambience for a low country restaurant. I had the locally harvested raw oysters and they were perfect. Fried oysters were very good too. Some reviews have discounted the food, but ours was very good. The best seafood that I have ever had? No, but very very good and much better than the restaurants on Shem Creek and a more relaxed atmosphere. We went up to the rooftop bar, but it was October and pretty chilly, but the bartender was very nice. Our server in the restaurant was on-task, knowledgeable, and friendly.
Location is beautiful and so relaxing atmosphere!! Roof top was the best to have a drink and we’ve got calamari appetizer which was so tender and delicious. It’s a mistake that we didn’t have a reservation so it took us 1 hour to have our table so we enjoyed that hour on the roof top. We had five star service from Travis,thanks for answering all our questions and recommendations!!
The only thing was the portion of the food comparing to the price we paid, we ordered seafood Alfredo which is tasty but we weren’t happy with our 2 main entree which is poached seafood combo which had only 2 mini lobster tail and it’s a mini size, 4 shrimps and 2 scallops for $42 which is overpriced for this dish but it tasted good. Overall was good experience and location is great!
This isn't necessarily a five-star restaurant per se but in the context of where it is it really is.... It has been there for a while subjected to saltwater and a large clientele. With that said it's a great place the servers are professional and the food was very good. We also caught the sunset from there which is amazing. Fresh fish and the renowned shrimp and grits were really good today. Recommend.
We highly recommend you visit the boathouse for a fantastic dining experience! The menu is the perfect size with great options, and they also offer daily specials. We loved the raw oyster selection, too!

Such a wonderful dining experience and ambiance! Our server was fantastic and knew the wines and menu very well. We had a lot of "foodies" in our group and they were all very impressed. Everything was very fresh and yummy! Sit outside and watch the sunset!
Incredible food. I tried the wreckfish and it did not disappoint. Obviously had to get a crab cake on the side. Servers friendly and BEAUTIFUL views.
Great service and a stunning view. The dolphins at sunset were a real treat and the rooftop bar was the perfect vibe.

Love coming here. Came for my birthday July 6th. Had 7:45pm reservation. Got there early to get some drinks on the rooftop bar and enjoy the evening. Don't remember the bartender's name, but she did a great job. Drinks were delicious, Jalapeño Margarita, then Captain's Lemonade. I requested to sit on the patio in the online reservation, we were first sat inside. My girlfriend went up and asked about the outside and was told about a 30 minute wait. Since I really wanted to sit outside, we were ok with waiting. Went back upstairs, got an Aperol Spritz and order of Hush Puppies. Before the food arrived we were texted that our table was ready, maybe 5 minutes. Our table was perfect, view of the water. Got to see dolphins hang out during incoming tide. Brian took care of us. He did an amazing job. Scallops for me, Shrimp and Grits for Suzy. Food was amazing. Don't know what they do for Grits, but they are the best we've ever had. Brian slyly got dessert for my birthday, Creme Brulee was awesome, perfect vanilla flavor and the berries finished it right.
Will definitely be back.
The butcher block tonight happened to be a 10oz New York Strip... Let me just say... OMG!!! Best steak I've ever eaten!! And the service... Brooke S. was wonderful. The sweetest and most personable server we could have ever imagined and we were so grateful for her and her personality.
Once we arrived the outside of the restaurant was very nice and they have valet parking for all guests and that was very nice. The view from this restaurant was amazing. They have outside and inside seating both areas was very clean but the outside view was so beautiful watching the sunset. The waiter was so and explained everything and went even further giving us more restaurants nearby to try since I said I wanted to go to visit more in the area..The food and drinks came out pretty quickly and tasted very good..I had green beans but they where good but I don't like mine crunchy so they switched it for asparagus and it was good and went well with my stuffed chicken..I really enjoyed my first time here and definitely will go back. Forgot they have an area outside of the restaurant that you can just sit and watch the sunset or just the water.. So beautiful.
Atmosphere was nice, it was a late evening reservation on Valentines day so didn't have a chance to get outside and check out the view they're known for. Service was great, Appetizers were good, Oysters (Fried and raw) were good. The fried shrimp and fish on the fried seafood platter were a little mushy. Will definitely go back and try something else and take in the view.
We had a late reservation Mother’s Day and they were absolutely slammed, but the service was still top notch and the food was great. The sunset views can’t be beat. One of our party said the scallops were the best they’d ever eaten. The fried shrimp were crispy and hot. The salads were amazing. And the coleslaw, with blue cheese in the dressing, was out of this world good.
We had an amazing dinner with our parents visiting this week. The addition of Chef Rob and his new creations (pickled Shrimp is one of them) and his tasty daily specials are always a reason to go back. The service was exceptional as are the views (There is no better sunset in the Charleston area). As a local, it’s great to add them back into our regular rotation. I would always recommend the daily specials and my favorite is the fried shrimp.
We’ve been going to the Boathouse for ages. The food is consistently excellent. Ambiance and view speak for themselves. These are all great but it’s the staff that can take a place to another level. Travis was our waiter and is one of those people. Professional, friendly, cordial and accommodating, this guy didn’t miss a beat. I hope the owners of The Boathouse appreciate what they have in him.
The Boathouse has a unique charm. It offers indoor and outdoor seating with 3 separate bar areas. Reservations (Open Table) are recommended or else a long wait is in your future. The entrees were delicious. Spicy Shrimp & Grits were flavorful and will definitely have again. The collard greens and mac & cheese were the better options for sides. Mash potatoes were bland. There is a $5 up charge for a salad as side and is worth it.
We will definitely return.
We almost cancelled reservations due to some poor reviews. But, I'm glad we didn't. The food was great! We had the scallops and a butchers choice NY strip. The atmosphere (we sat on the porch) was perfect. The marsh grasses, waterway, boats, and sunset views were perfect. The speed of service was great but we weren't hurried and encouraged to enjoy our experience. The price was another concern on some reviews we saw but, you can review menu and cost before coming. I feel we had great value for the money.
Amazing shrimp entree special and the rest of the table was very pleased with their blackened mahi mahi, lobster tail and oysters. Boathouse continues to be one of my favorite spots especially when guests come in to town. Cannot wait to go back!
