"Diamond in the rough" is how my wife described the Red and White Cafe. We both ordered the fish dinner, comes with fries and cole slaw. The BEST fish fry I've had! Fresh, perfect amount of batter, and not oily! Then we had their homemade key lime pie. Fantastic! Maybe you could get a better one in
Quality is on par with most other better-known fish fry places in the region, but I like their sauce better. Fish and coleslaw taste fresh. The place looks like it could use some upkeep and is take-out only. Street parking is easy to find.
I am remiss at having forgotten to mention what may be the Greatest Cafe in New York. And that Cafe is the Red & White Cafe, in Ithaca. For that, I apologize.
Where Plain and Court St bisect, just up the street from GIAC, which is the Greater Ithaca Activities Center: you will find the Red and White
Some of the best fried oysters I've ever had. The price was a tad bit steep yet for what we got, it was worth it; after all you get what you pay for. I highly recommend this place. I think they do fresh catch from the ocean if not themselves they buy directly from a beach location. Again I really gi
I really wanted to love the Cafe, but when I arrived they were very low on options which affected the quality of the food I received as well. I will definitely return to try different items as the owners were extremely kind and accommodating, despite the limited menu.
For what they serve, it is excellent. I have always gotten the Friday fish fry here but I understand their other menu items are delicious. Several people have told me to try their spaghetti, because apparently the sauce is authentic and amazing. We'll soon see!
A real find. The sharp exterior caught our eye.
Food was very good. Fried haddock was same day freshness and fried expertly.fried shrimp/scallop not as good.....burger was pretty good. Decor. Service friendly and real nice.....checkout the 1901 bathroom. It was a meat freezer back in the day. Hey. T
Probably the shortest review I'll ever give. This is the only place I trust in town to make anything fried. I get a fish fry at least once a month from here. The attitude of the people who work there is hit or miss depending on the day. I've definitely given them an eyeroll or two because of their g
Can't believe it took us so long to try this place! As others say - it's the only place in town to get good fried fish! Local, family owned. Owners/staff were friendly and welcoming to us and our baby. We'll be back often!
The cafe is a friendly, small-scale restaurant great for lunch or a quick meal. The owner is incredibly friendly and gave me suggestions for local sights and restaurants to visit on my vacation. The fish sandwich special was a great deal and some of the best fish and chips I've ever had, even from m
Can't think of anything that I would take a star away for. It is a small, informal place. You order at the counter and choose a seat; your food is brought over to you. We had the fish fry, lightly breaded substantial-sized fish with french fries and coleslaw. The fish was light, white and tasty.. s
Best spot in town for fish fry. Much more reasonably priced than the "Doug's" truck that comes to town. It is also fun to see all the local history displayed on the walls.
This place has the BEST seafood dinner I've had in a long time. The Owners are nice and you feel at home. I'll be going back my next trip up to the area.
Good fish. We ordered and was told 10 15 mins. We went inside and they asked did we order...we said yes we called they laughed and said they forgot lol but they were so nice we excuse it and waited and I have to say the fish was good too
Best fish dinner in Ithaca! The owner and the folks who work there are all very nice and my order was up very quickly. They will be getting more of my business for sure.
