Everything at Maharaja Palace was delicious. Service is friendly and quick. Portion size is perfect. This is a gem in a neighborhood that was missing a good Indian restaurant until this one opened. Order the gulab jamun to finish in a sweet note.

At Maharaja Sweets & Snacks, one should stick to the sweets. My friend and I stopped in for a quick bite and decided to get some sweets and scarcities. Unfortunately, it took awhile to order and receive our food in comparison to others in the restaurant. We started with pani puri, which was not fresh. The puri tasted packaged and the pani lacked flavor. Even the mixed subzi accompaniment was lacking spice. Then, we tried the aloo parantha, which tasted good. It was cooked fresh to order. Finally, we received our chai after asking for it for twenty minutes. It was decent, though not worth the wait. The barfi, however, was quite good. The kaju barfi was fantastic, though I wasn't the biggest fan of the doda barfi.

Rude people always. The women at the front are just unbearable. The man who owns it is a gentleman.
The Mithai is good. The snacks like samosa and pakoras are decent.
The buffet ok ok.
But order from the menu for good food. It is.

Maharaja Sweets & Snacks does brisk business on 37th Avenue in Jackson Heights. It is without a doubt the finest place to get Indian mithai in Queens. But is it genuinely desi? It varies from day to day. One day, the boondi ladoo is perfection and half way home, I want to turn back and buy a dozen more. The next visit and it is insipid. The rasgulla is not spongy and has no kewra. As genuine kewra is difficult to obtain, would it be better to use synthetic kewra? I doubt it as it would taste bitter. The kalakand has zero flavor and neither does the jalebi. This could be because the milk is different. It looks mouthwatering, but a first bite disappoints and I want to cry. It is best to keep memories of Ghasitaram and Rajshree Sweets locked in your mind and not shed a tear if your memory of the kesar peda does not live up to expectations.

The savory offerings are full of flavor. The vegetable pakoras and samosas remind one of home as do the chutneys. There is a daily buffet and customers enjoy the thali meals and the à la carte selections.

Friendly Service and Tasty Desserts. We were unfamiliar with Indian desserts, and the counterman was very helpful, letting us try a few and offering suggestions. We picked out a great one made from lentils.

The best indian sweets in New York, and perhaps the USA. I stumbled upon this place by chance. I had a German friend in town and we were both unbelievably impressed with the quality, selection and value at this place. I have never seen more varieties of Indian sweets outside of Mumbai. The guy who runs this place kindly offered to let us try several desserts for free. I bought a little box that fed three people and it cost less the $5. If you like Indian desserts, then definitely try this place out. It turns out that the owner used to live in Germany - both he and my German friend were excited to exchange a few words in German, not the most common language spoken in Jackson Heights! I didn't try any of the savory food, but it looked good.

Pick your favorite and eat it on the spot, or select an assortment to take home and sample at leisure.  Orange jalebi spirals dripping with honey are a personal favorite, but you’ll also see beautiful things like chandra kala and silvery malai cham-cham which are now at the top of my to-try list.  The website provides a good start to selecting.  More things to do in Queeens . More things to do in NYC.   More travel articles to inspire you and help you plan some spectacular getaways. image c2013 Carole Terwilliger Meyers

One of the best places to shop for freshly made Indian sweets. They have a wide variety of selection and they are made well but are slightly on the pricier side. One will have a hard time selecting. They also have curries for take out mainly but there is a limited amount of seating as well. The staff are courteous but this place is always busy so one should be prepared for some amount of brusqueness.

So many varieties of Indian Style Sweats, found some Indian Bengali Style Sweets too like Kalakand, Malai Chamcham etc. . Bought some mix match varieties of sweets. Very fresh & tasty. They are vegetarian restaurant, so they also have Samosas & other vegetarian entrees dishes as well.

Prices and quantity are reasonable. I ate chole bhature. Halwa and chole tasted good, bhaturas were big but a little greasy. The sweets are delicious.

I have been going to this place for Indian sweets for at least 15 years or more. I like their carrot halwa. If you warm it little bit then it is even better. They have fresh food as well for someone who wants to dine in. Overall good place to eat if you are in Jackson heights south east Asian Market.

Yes, the workers could use some customer service skills but this review is solely on the goods, not the services. The Metai is tasty! We bought a lot to take back home (different state) with us. My favorite is the Cham Cham. It's a small shop and the line is toward the end, not the beginning as you enter the shop. Seating is limited to about 10 ppl.

They serve a variety of vegetarian Indian food, snacks including chat, poori ,samosas. Also they sell Indian sweets. Sweets in general are high quality. Samosa chat and other snacks are good. Prices are reasonable. Only issue is very slow service. The servers are couple of middle aged ladies who will go on their own slow pace even if you are waiting for 20 minutes.

If you have not been, then you’ve been missing out on the best sweets in NYC. Yes they’re slightly more expensive than the other sweets places nearby, but it’s that way because they are quality. Mouth watering sweets, so much variety. I have to buy two boxes for a household that doesn’t even eat sweet stuff because we can’t get enough of this. You can get sweets by the pound or each piece solo for $2 each. They give half pound of the same mathai but no mix n match. That’s probably the only downside. But definitely go check them out. The staff is also very nice, respectful and patient!

The mithai is on point! My to go spot as always. It always fresh and delicious. No smell or soggy at all. I’ve had their vegetarian dishes as well. 10/10. Huge lines time to time but so worth it.

We tried sweets ( Indian desserts) from this Place and those were good. You can buy sweets / savory snacks from here. We tried the ‘dahi Puri’ which was good but certainly not the best one. But still, everything was worth with respect to the money we paid there. You can give it a try. Also they probably have some Vegetarian Indian buffet ( I have not tasted though).
