The fried chicken on the blue plate is the best in Jackson!!!! Love the flavor and somehow, it's not greasy, soooo good!!! Also, try the spinach crisps, steaks and burgers. The Mimosas are made with freshly squeezed orange juice as well. Great service and great food!
This was the second time I've taken my girlfriend to Char. First time she ordered baked chicken. The last time she ordered the blackened fish. She absolutely loves this place. She also loves the fact they have a gluten free menu. I told her this is now out spot. The food is delicious and the service was great. I highly recommend this place......
Went in to visit with my sister! Food was perfect and lemontinis were delish! Tommy on the piano was the finishing touch for a night out! Our server was excellent and we at in the bar area, hate I didn’t get her name. I don’t like waitstaff that infuse themselves in your conversation or come to the table all the time, like they do at seafood resolution. Her timing was spot on, my steak was perfect!
We had a delightful Father’s Day dinner on Sunday evening. Our meals were all perfect and the service was top-notch! Thank you to our fantastic server, Heather and all the Char staff!
I have to say Char is my favorite place to come to at the end of the day. Best place for me to just relax and try and free my mind from everything in this chaotic world. And the shrimp bisque? Excellent.

Char is always an excellent choice when I’m in Jackson! The steak was amazing and the lump crabmeat atop the mahi mahi was literally just that.

Great service, high end dining. Great atmosphere, good for a special occasion dinner. Ordered fish, which was good but not incredible. Appetizers and desserts were great, husband and father were impressed and it was a great dinner out!
I love a good Benedict. The southern Benny is good in concept but I think the execution was a little off that day. It was more than a little burnt. We would go back though.
Still one of my favorites. Took in a recent dinner with friends at Char. We started off with some crabclaws that were very well prepared. Fresh, flavorful and well prepared. For my main I ordered the 14oz bone in pork Chop and it was simply outstanding, seasoned and seared to near perfection served with garlic smashed potatoes and broccollini. A wonderful dinner was fined off with what they claim is Jackson's best desert a Pecan Carmel Butter Crunch, and honestly after trying it I won't argue that....it was fantastic.
Me and my dad went here today and both had the 12 oz. filet and it was outstanding! Our waiter Kevin was very courteous and always was checking on us. I would recommend this place to anyone in the Jackson area if you live here or if you're in town visiting!
My husband and I came to jackson for an overnight getaway/shopping trip away from the kids...I did some research and decided to try Char. It didn't disappoint! We are self proclaimed filet snobs. And it was perfection!
Wonderful!. I was taken to Char on my birthday Tuesday and had a great experience! Starting with a top shelf margarita and fried Crab Claws leading to the Original Cowboy Ribeye (cooked perfectly) and Chicken Piccata. Our waitress was on top of everything from start to finish, ending with a surprise dessert (Pecan Caramel Butter Crunch) from our server! Excellent service and superb food! Truly one of my favorite spots in Jackson.

Best chicken fried steak in Miss. Best pecan pie in the country ! Filet is good, rib eye was not so good. The bisque is wonderful. The waitress' are beautiful & attentive. I eat there often. My only complaint is if you want the best thing on the menu, the chicken fried steak, they only serve it at lunch.
I had the best salmon I have ever had tonight, and I have had salmon in many places! All was very good!
Good, not great. Many people swear by Char...I did enjoy my meal. The ribeye I hadn't wasn't the best I've had for the price, but tasted okay. LOVED the onion rings though.
Will definitely go back but will probably try another menu item.

I just Love this place. Been there tons of times and I am never disappointed. I really love the Jazz Brunch on Sundays. The food has been good every time I've been there and truly spectacular on many occasions. I really love taking clients there for lunch. It is a great place for a business lunch. I will be back again sometime real soon.

Date night at char was great... we started with the crab claws fried (everyone loves those) and the crab cakes and by that I mean real crab with no bread crumbs...then I had a the cowboy seasoned and cooked to perfection. My hubby got the porkchop which was juicy and large portion for the price..of course we couldn't leave without the pecan pie even though we had to get it togo... over all five star dinner from the greeting at the door to our wonderful server Tim loved our date night ...

A+!. The bread loaf Ahi tuna steak was excellent. At first intold the waitress i ordered the tuna, thinking theynjust served me a 16oz. filet. They assured me it was the tuna, and when i cut into it, you could see the freshness of fish. The horseradish mashed potatoes were so good, I try to make them regularly at home. Nice atmosphere, great service, good wine selection.
I enjoyed it, good experience, prices were reasonable, my only concern is the new Chef is a bit too Farm to Table for the taste of some of the regulars. Again, I liked it though, not everything needs to be coated in salt!

Lunch favorite. Char hit a low point about a year ago. Ever since then, the restaurant has really been on the upswing and today was no different. The fried oyster BLT has catapulted into one of my top 5 favorite sandwiches in the city. Oysters, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and Louisiana hot sauce combined for a great sandwich. The fries are killer now. Gone are the battered, frozen fries. These were crispy and fresh cut. Highly recommended.
Music & Wine. Great live music in the bar area! Everything I have had on the new menu has been a treat. I also like the wine preservation system that allows you to try nicer wines by the half glass. We will be back!!

Nice brunch. Enjoyed Char for the first time last weekend! Had a late lunch/brunch on Sunday. The food and service was very nice. We had a group of 20+ and they totally took care of us! Would definitely recommend Char!

Worth It! Great Service (except for the elderly snooty hostess)! Yummy Food!. My husband and I visited Char for lunch one day and it was definitely worth it! I got the Pecan Chicken with garlic grits and stuffing with gravy. The pecan chicken was good, the stuffing yummy, but the grits were rather bland to me. Loved the little French breads with butter! My husband tried the Seafood Gumbo and loved it. His meal was Shrimp and Grits which he replied the shrimp were fresh and very well prepared (not rubbery or raw) ...perfectly done. The sauce was delicious, not overpowering and mixed well with his garlic grits. The service was outstanding, although the elderly female hostess was rather snooty and gave a poor first impression...rather made us feel as if we were not "good enough" for her little establishment. Other than that snooty chic, Char is pricey, but well worth it.
Great place. It used tone packed all day, every day, with a great bar scene and live piano music. But the last two times we went it was less than 1/3 full. Not sure what that's about.

A good lunch. Riding early and not as far to get to Jackson I was able to enjoy a rare thing, namely a lunch that was not "on the road".
This is a nice place and while I'd have liked to sample the dinner menu to see how the steak stacked up to those back home in cowtown I was happy do something different today.
I ordered the crab claws and the Steak and Bleu salad.
The claws were a nice treat and I wish I'd had more of them. The sauce was nothing to write home about but on the whole I enjoyed this appie.
The salad was a mix of greens, pecans, onion and red pepper with tender beef covered with bleu cheese and a light fruity dressing. I found the flavours worked well and while not the salad to end all salads this is something I'm going to try and replicate at home.
The staff was not as good as I'd like but certainly average for many places I've dined.
Finishing with my favourite dessert, namely pecan pie which was fairly good I left pleased with this recommendation and thinking of perhaps giving salads more chances.
My first Char experience was overall great! With the exception of the rude hostess on the phone when I called to get the lunch hours. As the manager of a fine dining restaurant, I observe everything about the restaurant in which I dine.. First, service was quick, friendly, and to the point. We (my girlfriend and I) were offered a couple of the days specials. I had one, the scallop special while Crystal had the sin-city shrimp.. Both were perfectly portioned for lunch and the taste was superb. Someone in the kitchen cares! We also learned that a few of the desserts come in "2$ bite" sizes, which is a novel idea. We tried all three that came in that size as sort of a sampler. Our favorite was the pecan pie, but all three were good.. The praline ice cream stood out to me as well.. Try char, I wouldn't suggest calling tho, the young lady on the phone just wasn't up to par.
I eat here with my dad about once a month because it is his favorite restaurant. I like it a lot. The appetizers are delicious. My dad always gets the crab cakes, which are so good. All of the steaks are wonderful, best I've had in Jackson. I always get the duck though because it is hard to find on the menu at most places, and Char's is really good! Finally for desert get either the pecan pie or the apple butter crunch cake... Both are delicious!
A+ Appetizers. I have had a couple of steaks here, and they were good, but what keeps me coming back are the appetizers! Paneed Crab Cakes, Bleu Cheese Artichoke Dip, Fried Green Tomatoes, Crab Claws, and one of my fave's - their version of BBQ Shrimp! OMG, this stuff is good! But the whole menu rocks. Excellent selections from the bar, from Designer Martini's to a really strong wine list. Prices are right in line for service and quality. Atmosphere is traditional steakhouse and service is usually good, except when they're crowded, at which point they tend to get a little behind, but the food is worth it. Its in a trendy area, so parking is a little sketchy, but not bad. If you're an appetizer grazer, this will be one of your favorite places!
Char is perfect!. Char is my favorite restuarant by far. i, myself, am a picky eater and have problems finding things i like at restuarants and at char there are so many options from the apps, to the entrees, to deserts. you have to try it! its a must!
Usually Fantastic. I've always loved this place. The service and food have been top notch. We tipped the waiter $50 bucks once because we've never had service so fabulous in our lives.
The last time we ate there, we got a waiter that was not so good. Our food was cold. We were less impressed. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come ....
Brunch. I love going on a sunday for lunch. Their brunch menu is full of great items. Quiche is so good! TRY IT!!!

Great Service, Superb Food. My girlfriend and I made reservations for Valentine's Day this year at Char. I've eaten there a couple of times with clients, and I have to say, the service was a cut above the rest during this visit.
Every need was attended to immediately, without delay. The drinks packed a kick, the steaks melted in your mouth as did the chocolate dessert.
All in all, this is a great bet for a date or for entertaining clients.
Piano bar is a nice touch, the service is consistantly superb.
Char. Great Restaurant with a great atmosphere. Good food -- to die for desserts. Pricey, but worth it!!

My personal experience at Char was delightful. The service was unmatched and the food held its own. My personal recommendation would be the 20 oz Cowboy Ribeye and a Sweet Potato. We ordered almost every dessert on the menu and each one has its own strengths. The dessert that shined the most of the selection offered by Char was by far the Caramel Cheesecake. 5/5 stars for the atmosphere, service and the quality of the food. There was not a single moment that we were not blown away by the etiquette of the servers, flavour of the food and ambiance of the restaurant.

My husband took me here for my birthday and the night started off great. The guy doing security out front was very pleasant and welcoming. We had reservations so we were seated immediately. Our waitress, Kathryn, was great the entire night. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and onion rings and they were hot and delicious. For our entrees, I ordered the lamb chops and my husband ordered the range chicken. The lamb chops weren’t tender at all. They were very tough and chewy so I switched with my husband because I kept spitting it out. He said that there was barely any meat on it and there was a lot of fat. The chicken and potatoes were ok. I loved the gray with the potatoes but I didn’t eat much of the chicken because it wasn’t what I wanted. For dessert we ordered the pecan pie. The pie was very yummy. It tasted like old fashioned pecan candy which I thought was very unique because I’ve never known anyone to make the pie that way. Overall, I had a good dining experience but I gave this restaurant 3 stars because I was very disappointed with our main course. We spent almost $130 but we left unsatisfied and I was still a little hungry.
I always have good experiences when I visit Char. I feel right at home, they really know how to make guest feel heard. I ordered the wrong drink (my fault) and the waitress took it off and fixed me the correct one. I always get the glazed lamb and it is always delicious. Im a big fan of dessert, so trust me, try the pecan butter crunch cake.
In town for business and needed a nice place to relax. This place topped my list of favorites! We had the special which was a filet, crab cake and lobster. All cooked perfect and absolutely delicious. To top it off our bartender Kat was fabulous and made the best drinks! All service was on point!
I had a pleasant experience here at lunch time. The dessert platter was a great choice, fudge brownie turned out to be my favorite. Gumbo was delicious, too.
Me and my husband went here on our anniversary for the first time and I must say it live up to “fine dining” our server was Damien he was the best and was so patient with it being our first time I’ll most definitely come back I had The Chop and the Steak with crab meat (take home meal) my husband had the chicken everything was special and on point from the moment we walked in to us walking out we made reservations and place a special request and they made sure that was available to us food was soft and juicy nothing was dried up
Cup of gumbo for an app, no filler crab cakes and the pecan caramel pie. Absolutely wonderful!!!!! This was my first time ever eating at a Char, I’m very pleased I picked the Jackson location for this experience. We were only passing through town and being on the road for the pass two weeks I’ve eaten a lot of the same food.
This was definitely worth the stop.
Ok We have driven by the Char Restaurant lots of times today was the day my taste buds was blown away this is top chef Gordon Ramsay would enjoy this Restaurant our meal was awesome and our waitress Dusty was very helpful she knows her menu very well. The restaurant is very clean and staff are very friendly .And Wow the Dessert was delicious and delicious and awesome .
