after all my years of living in jackson i finally got around try trying this place. i had the standard burger and fries and it was pretty good, great prices tho. its crazy how busy they get and how fast they can pump out food. the staff may not be the friendliest but the other customers sure were.

If you want a good home cooked burger, Beatty Street is one of a few good places to go. Keep in mind that this place has existed for 75 years because of their great value priced food, not the ambiance. I often wondered if anyone else could devour a burger at 7:30am besides me, but obviously there are quite a few capable people judging by those ordering in line. It doesn't matter if you have a taste for breakfast or lunch, you'll leave with a satisfying meal. Bookmark it!

Home cooking. Traditional southern fare. Good burgers. Generous portions. Very friendly service. A cross section of demographics among the customers.

This run down grocery store, surrounded by strip clubs, is proof that one should never judge a book by its cover. They make one of the city's best burgers, and they do not skimp on size. Despite the size, quality is not lacking. The burger is juicy and filling, yet light on the wallet. A Super Beatty Burger comes with two patties and weighs 12 ounces. If you eat one without getting full, you should probably get checked for a tapeworm as only the biggest of stomachs would not find it filling. I have also been told the prime rib po-boy is worth a try. If you go for lunch, make sure you go early; anytime after 11:00 will guarantee a wait in line.

Beatty Street Burgers. Beatty Street Grocery is one of the few places I love that is slightly older than me. My father used to get me burgers there in the 50’s and 60’s and judging from recent trips, the burgers are as good, and as cheap, as ever. Perhaps the best place in Jackson to step back in time and get a “real” hamburger.

Don't let the outside stop,ya!. While the outside is stark and worn, don't let that fool you. Go inside and take a step back in time. The place IS old and worn, but the food is great. Good breakfast and great sandwichs. Anyone from day larorers to businessmen visit this hidden gem.

Beatty Street Grocery is a little hole-in-the-wall kind of place. It's been open for over 70 years and it shows. The communal tables and bars stools are a nice touch and the staff is very friendly-all except an ornery little lady taking orders at the lunch counter. I mispronounced Beatty and she was quick to correct me. She reminded me a little bit of the soup nazi character from Seinfeld. Thats the one negative that i had about this place. Be sure and say "Beety" and you should be okay. This place is in a rough part of town, but for the price, the burger cannot be beat. My husband and I ate here for lunch and our total bill was 12.50. As far as burgers go in Jackson, it's not number 1, but Beatty Street is a nice change of pace. I have lived here for 10 years and never heard of this place. While Mugshots and CS's have a superior burger, Beatty Street is a nice slice of history that should definitely be on your "to do" list if interested in eating like a local.

Beatty Street Grocery. This place made the #1 burger in the Jackson Metro Area for 2011. I had heard of this place and never tried it. So yesterday I set out to see if I agreed. This is a old grocery store with still some groceries, but most people come for the restaurant in the back. There are 2 long tables that could seat about 20-25 people, so you can dine in if you prefer. Mostly the crowd appeared to be construction workers, office personnel from the area. The business opened 70 years ago and I believe they are still using the original cash registers.

I consider myself a burger connoisseur and have sampled a huge variety of burgers across Jackson and the USA. This burger is "VERY" good, close to the best in the area, but I think Cool Al's on McWillie Drive.

I will definitely be going back. I didn't notice anything disgusting as some people have claimed. The food was exceptional, service was quick and the people checking you out were super nice and talkative while collecting your money.

I had a 1 pound double cheeseburger known as the Super Beatty Burger and a order of fries, for $5.97.....tell me where else you can go and get that kind of food and not pay near $10

While our order was being prepared, we picked out drinks and went to the grocery counter to pay, as instructed by the sign taped to the napkin dispenser where we sat down. Our meals and drinks together totaled about nine and a half bucks… Talk about a good deal! (Note to self: This place is budget friendly.) During our five or so minute wait, we noticed that the crowd ranged from the cleanest of the white-collar to the bluest of the blue-collar.

Awesome local spot for a good burger. Prices are super fair and it's a real experience to dine in - a mix of traditional corner store and dive. The people were friendly as well. Not for overly formal settings so go to have some fun and relax. I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu next time.

I have been wanting to eat here for awhile now, but just couldn't make it happen till yesterday, and though it was truly worth the wait, I really wish I had been eating there for years, as I can't believe it took me over 20 years of living in South Mississippi to finally hear about Beatty Street. Places like this are just few and far between in this day of fast food and fad food franchises. I am one of those people who really, really enjoys eating at a Greasy Spoon(This is a Compliment!), that puts out great cooked to order food & that is exactly what I got here at Beatty Street. Not only was the food great, but the staff was exceptional and the owner even took the time to have an in depth chat about small towns here in South Mississippi and how revitalization is going on all across this great state. I had the best Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich that I have had in years, and a slaw dog with slaw so fresh they were making it when I placed my order. I can't say enough good things about the Jackson, Mississippi Historic Icon. I am already looking forward to my next visit there, and hope to see you there.

This is my go to when I have bacon cravings. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich is amazing. The burger is awesome too. The ambience isn't rhe best but the food is the BOMB!!!!!
