One of my very favorite places to eat breakfast or lunch, hands down. The service can be slow, but the food makes up for it completely. The Greek menu options are what they do best, and the made-in-house salad dressing is great. I haven't tried the amazing looking cakes they have on display, but they're amazingly tempting looking. We've been here for a casual Sunday brunch, too, and the mimosas were lovely. It's not a pretentious place, it's an honest diner. Enjoy!

Headed up A1A after spending a couple of days at a high end golfing resort (not our cup of tea but there for business).... going to hang out on Amelia Island for a few days... it's Sunday morning and my wife wants breakfast and some eggs.... everything is strip malls, fast food and chains.... then by chance we see the '3rd street'... looks interesting, number of cars in the lot and an open sign: older lady shows us to our booth... did take a few minutes longer than I prefer for a server to come but then out beverages came pretty fast and the food took about 10 minutes... but was outstanding, I had steak and eggs, the steak would have been disappointing for an evening meal but was fine for breakfast (thin) but was actually cooked medium rare the way I asked... interesting note... wife ordered rye toast, I ordered wheat and it came on one plate but the server (waitress) set in down with the breads facing the right way. Wife's bloody mary was top of the line.... seemed to be a local place on the main road to us... no one yelled at the help either.... would go back if near there. Oh, the grits were outstanding too... not some yankeefied instant, but real. Place seemed exceptionally clean for a local diner to me.
OMG DELICIOUS!!!. We came in at 6:30 on Friday eve and the place was very busy. We were immediately greated and seated. Our server took our drink orders and promptly returned to take our dinner orders. In minutes, the entire restaurant was PACKED!!! Every single table was seated!!! Our server was still courteous and attentive, the bus boy was working non stop and our dinner was delivered by 6:45!!! I had the roast lamb for dinner and the best rice pudding ever,for dessert. IT WAS INCREDIBLE!!! Great service, wonderful atmosphere and terrific food...what more could you ask for!?!?!?!!!
Awesome place. Our waiter remembers our name every time we visit. The food is outstanding and the owner is by far the friendliest. We love this place. The fried mushrooms are our favorite appetizer. Stuffed fish is very tasty too. Highly recommended to go!
A really fun Greek joint. First of all, if you don't order off of the special Greek page on the menu, you are already screwing up. Get bacon and eggs at Denny's. Here you can order a Greek Trio platter of moussaka, spanakopita, and something else Greek that was great, but I don't know the name of it. Plus they give you a large Greek salad. The owner puts his whole heart into this food he obviously loves. He is usually sitting in the first booth during the day, and frequently, you get to view the real life sit-com of the owner and the waitresses arguing with each other. This really is a fun place. And the owner's wife is a sweet middle-aged woman who is proud of her excellent desserts, which she displays in a case. This place really is a local treasure.
Very good food. Loved the lamb shank, the sauce is delicious. Enjoyed the homemade Greek dressing. Fast and courteous service. (This is a REAL review by the way). We will be back!
Cheap Eats. We were craving Greek food & we found this place on the internet. Asked someone about this place & they'd said that the food was good & that they gave good sized portions for reasonable prices. That was good enough for me! Glad that we'd gone! The food was great & the servers were very friendly. Everything's made from scratch! If you're not boujie, it's a great place to take your family! We're gonna go back!
Yummy!. My husband and I ate here this past Sunday night and had really delicious meal of Greek food: Lamb shank and a gyro. We are from Detroit and have had fantastic food in Greektown for years. This food was just as good - best gyro I've ever had actually. The owner sat down and talked to us. He asked us about our meal. We had a great experience. We already have recommended and will be back. Thanks!

The service was alright waitress was semi friendly. I was looking at the omletes and she suggested something not on the menu called George's omelet. It had feta gyro meat tomatoes and onions with tatziki sauce and was excellent.
We've been several times and have had great service and food without exception. The owners were very sweet with me when I asked them about a Greek dessert I had years ago. Keep in mind that the owners are there so much. If some one was less than jovial keep in mind they may be tired or it could be that they just didn't care for you. So what? Will this place ever grace the cover of food and wine? Nah but it does diner food SO well!
Had lunch there today, I had the Greek Platter and my husband had the Chef Salad. Both were fine and despite the bad reviews, we had great service. They were low on tabouli for the platter so gave me more hummus - too much actually, but I asked if I could have a side of fruit instead and the waitress obliged with no problem. The hummus was excellent and there was a lot of meat on the chef salad. I would go back.
I love it! Food is excellent. They have everything on the menu. American, Italian, Greek, seafood and more. Everything is made fresh to order so it does take a little time, but when you get it it's hot and delicious, like your Greek or Italian grandma was slaving in the kitchen all day. They have all kinds of different beverages and alot of different types of deserts to choose from. The staff was very friendly and the diner itself looks great, decorated very nice and the place looks well kept and clean.
Wonderful Meal DON'T MISS THIS RESTURANT. My family and I had dinner at this resturant tonigt. What a wonderful experience! This is a place where you can actually carry on a conversation and enjoy your meal. Our server, Anthony, was absoultly wonderful and treated our 5 year old with such respect, which is so hard to find these days. The food was delicious, we had lamb shank, ribs and shrimp, and my daughter had a hamburger. The food was seasoned perfectly, and we all brought food home!
If you get the chance, please check out this diner, you won't be disappointed. Sophia was wonderful and as we left she told us she would see us again.

The best food!. We just left from 3rd street diner and I could not walk away with out buying more dessert! The food is great full bar everything made when you order it. Not frozen food or crap food excellent food! Everyone was fast friendly and on there toes! It's an older diner so things are to be expected to look vintage.. Hey I am all for going back in time and eating some great food. I will totally bring my family back and tell people I know! Great Job 3rd street dine! Good Job!
3rd Street Diner. My family and I party of 6 decided to go to this Diner after reading all the reviews. Despite the fact that that all the bad reviews come from old ex employees. We thought there could be no way this diner can be this bad. We were sat as fast as we walked in the door. Greeted with a smile. The gyros were terrific! The Owner came out to say hello and see how everyone was. The waitstaff was polite and catered to the fact we also had small children. It is an Old School Diner. I loved it! If you want good service and the owner truly does care about his food. Take a shot and don't read into Disgruntled EX Employees reviews. It's sad that the do that on a public forum and ruin your chance at a Awesome meal! Hope this helps the locals as well as people from out of town! I WILL BE BACK!
SUPER!!!. We had a large group dine at this diner this weekend. We were on a very tight time schedule and our dinners were brought out PRONTO...with absolutely NO COMPLAINTS (hard to do with over 30 customers in a group). We had delicious food and also arrived at our event in a timely manner!

Good Greek Food. I decided to try this place before reading reviews and I am glad I did. Otherwise I would never have gone there with the rating. I had a gyro with their tzatziki sauce and loved it. The plate came with fries which was a little odd and a salad. I would just order the gyro without the sides if I go back. The other food on the menu was not good. Think waffle house. I would say stick with the greek food if you give this place a try.
Great Cheap Eats!. They have excellent Bloody Mary's. My 2 favorite places for Bloody Mary's is here and Brett's Waterway Cafe in Fernandina Beach. I have yet to find a 3rd...and I try them often... The only thing I have tried is their Crab Cake Eggs Benedict... Wow!! It's very good. Yes, it's a divey beach diner but I recommend it. I take out of town friend's there for the "morning after" and everyone loves it. (it cures a good hangover) It's cheap and the service has always been pretty good. Not your super clean establishment but try it out for breakfast. If you like a good Bloody Mary and enjoy Crab Cake Eggs Benedict....You have to try it out!
Beach Diner Blows Me Away. I liked this Greek inspired diner. Got the gyro it was the best tasting gyro I have ever had, huge chunks of lamb and lots of cucumber dill sauce made my taste buds jump for joy. The service was excellent and the place was clean which was unexpected from going to other diners(Steak-n-Shake or Johnny Rockets) and seeing how they keep their restaurants. This Place Hit the Spot and not my wallet!! I will be Back!!

Best Diner in Jax. I have had meals there all times of the day. Breakfast I enjoy the Eggs Neptune, Lunch a Gyro dinner the musakka. Desserts are great ..Staff is always great prices are great for what you get and a nice clean enviroment. I'll be back many more times.

We just had breakfast here. It was kind of empty at 3pm but the food was good.Menu is huge , they have everything you can imagine here.
I have traveled this country from Connecticut to California and the 3rd Street Diner is hands down the best restaurant in America. Where else can you find huge portions, a homemade salad dressing with the finest Greek olive oil, and all for less than what you’d spend on garbage fast food? I eat here several times a week and have come here two Thanksgivings and two birthdays in a row after moving to Jacksonville. This Diner feels like home. Come see Mr. George and listen to what wisdom he has to share while having a great meal. I recommend this place to everyone. It is clean, fresh, and the highest quality food you will ever find. Skip the soulless chain restaurant and give the 3rd Street Diner a try!

This place is a great place to eat I am a man who loves to eat, but I love to cook too so when I go out I expect that the food be as good as what I prepare. I like the freshness of the food and the quality of the meat, the portions are nice too. The prices are very reasonable. Everyone is friendly especially the owner. That dressing that they make is wonderful.
We just had dinner here and it was wonderful as usual. I had the Greek Trio which has always been great. My husband had the Grouper Francais and it was fabulous. The baklava is the best we have had and the portions are huge. My husband and I love to come here because the food is fresh and made from scratch.
Love this place! Great vibe, great service, quiet and chill yet fun. Plenty to choose from on the menu and the food tastes great. Portions can be small depending on what you order, but the quality is worth it and it was perfect for me, honestly. The spanokapita dinner is a delicious light meal, the crab cake appetizer was literally the best I've ever tasted and they have breakfast all day. Yassss <3
