Love this place. Good food and good service. Burgers are really good. I really like the atmosphere has a real New Orleans vibe. Only downside is the out of the way location but worth it.

a new orleans classic. you can count on the shack to be open when others are not. today on the 4th i was looking for a spot to have lunch with my son and after trying multiple locations we decided to head to the shack. buffalo wings bbq chicken mac and cheese and beans on the 4th. you have to love it. food is a solid B and the waitresses are efficient and incredibly polite and professional. my go to is the cheeseburger with O rings. great beer selection. indoor or outdoor. great place to ride from audubon park to on your bike. really is a 4.5
Came by for a quick lunch. Chicken and sausage gumbo was some of the best I’ve ever had. Not just for chicken and sausage gumbo - but gumbo period. Full of locals - and the folks in LA know their food - so that’s a huge testament to the food. Service a little slow - but food and atmosphere were fantastic!
What a fun old roadhouse. The food was really well done. We had large portions of the fried oysters. The meat pies were delicious, and the garbage fries were to die for.
Favorite lunch time spot. Only thing better than the food is the environment. Truly great place in Jefferson.
Awesome local relics, hometown history and culture decorates the one room restaurant/bar.Very good food, relaxed, fun atmosphere, courtious and helpful service. Portions more than enough...come hungry! Will be back!
Surprisingly fancy nachos for a place that feels like a small town bar, and the music (also good without trying too hard) was a great background to listen to or talk over.

Live enertainment, always a good time & full belly.
I ordered the shwimps and catfish plate. The salad was mostly chunks of the big white core and wilted greens. The ranch was delicious. No sweet tea. The lemonade tasted like water with a hint of lemon flavor. The schwimp were very good. A little bit salty for me, but overall a delicious flavor. The catfish was mushy on the inside and absolutely flavorless. The fries were nice and crisp, also a good flavor. The bread was just sliced bread, an end piece, toasted on one side only. I know there are some great bakeries in the area. Gambino's makes absolutely amazing breads. Just sayin. :)
Freaking Good!. I was really surprised by this place. I was expecting run-of-the-mill pub food, and maybe they have that, too, but I got the tuna steak sandwich, and holy crap! In a bar!? It was awesome! My husband got "some crazy frikking sandwich that was crazy good" we will totally go back. The night we went wasn't very crowded but still had about 30 people in the place and was filling up. They have great drink specials, and a really low-key ambiance for such inspired food.
The roast beef was incredible it was tender and sloppy just like it should be it is a must get
RED BEANS AND RICE. Without a doubt the best red beans in the city. Its not even close. In a class by themself.
Shimmy To The Shack!. Daily 11AM-Midnight or Later. Lunch Specials 11AM-2PM. Fri & Sat Live Music 7PM-Till (No Cover). Casual. On a Sunday afternoon, we were seated promptly by the waitress. Our drink and appetizer orders arrived quickly. The Onion Rings were large, crispy and flavorful, easily enough for two. Had the Roast Beef Po-Boy dressed and fries (sweet or regular) - a few large tasty chunks of beef came scattered among the debris, fresh lettuce and tomato, and the bread was soft with the requisite soggy bottom. Next time, I'm anxious to try their Soft Shell Crab Po-Boy!

The RiverShack Tavern had a fun decor and sports on the tv. The service is unpretentious, but friendly and effective. My husband and I ordered and shared a fried green tomato appetizer and the seafood platter featuring shrimp, oysters, catfish, alligator sausage, and fries. The fried green tomatoes were served piping hot, and when dipped in the housemade spicy ranch available on every table, they were a great way to start the meal. The portion was enough for four to share as a starter. The seafood was served just as hot and was fresh tasting and delicious. The flavored of all ingredients shined, and not a thing was greasy! I highly recommend this place to locals and tourists alike, and I will be coming back.

Great Atmosphere!. You can go to the Rivershack anytime of the day or night and get some of the best food and drinks in the city. Great location, tons of parking and live bands. It is also a must for the local lunch crowd, but be prepared to be there for over an hour! The Rusty's Chicken Ranch is fabulous! They have a very diverse menu, from appetizers, salads, poboys, the best hamburgers, po-boys and seafood. If you haven't been to the Rivershack, you should give them a try, you won't be disappointed!
Tex-Mex Burger. Thinking about the deliciousness that was the Tex-Mex burger from Rivershack is making my mouth water. That burger is ridiculous.
Tasty!. Ordered the alligator sausage poboy and the fried green tomatoes! Both tasted amazing! Would definetly recommened it to someone who just wants some simple, casual dinning.
Great Bar Food. It's a bar with an attitude and good food. I guess I'm getting old, the place was just too noisy, but it was packed. The food was outstanding the steaks and burgers hit the spot. I wouldn't want to go every night, but it sure was good last night.

Wonderful food in a bar?! Yes!!!! Mudt try the fried green tomatoes and the buffalo oysters! This is a fav for me and all of my friends from out of town. Place has alot of character!

Nice little bar with good food. We started with the alligator sausage appetizer. It was very good, but we were a little sad at how little there was for the price.
My husband had Chicken Sausage Gumbo (daily special) and then the Shank U burger. He said that the burger would’ve been good on its own, but the addition of the sausage patty made it perfect.
I had the Rusty’s Shrimp Wrap. It was pretty tasty. I was mildly annoyed that it had tomatoes in it (though not listed on the menu). I picked it off and was able to finish it otherwise.
It was a nice stop on our way back into town.
Quaint tavern with great selection of drinks and beers on tap. Service and the speed at which the food came out was the best I've seen in 3 years. The cheese curds, onion rings, and pastrami sandwich were very tasty. We will return.
Try Rusty’s Shrimp Wrap! You won’t be disappointed. There is a great selection of beers to choose from and they are served in cold pint glasses or pitchers. The service was excellent. I ventured inside to view the infamous barstools, but chose to sit outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Decent watering hole with big portions and decent prices. They have a dozen taps or so and a lot of margarita choices. They play my king of music and have fast and friendly service. A number of other taverns / bars locally look sketchy. This place is friendly.

Rivershack Tavern deserves at least a 12-star review! On our way out of NOLA we came across this lovely restaurant & Judy! WE LOVE JUDY!!! I hope she comes to St. Pete to visit us!! This was by far my favorite spot in NOLA. Judy helped us order some of their specialties and they did not disappoint! The building is rustic and inviting - a comfortable spot to hang! And the bar stools are hilarious! I will definitely make it a point to come back every time I visit! Thank you for the hospitality, Rivershack and Judy!
