Wonderful place!! I had the ribs, half BBQ half Thai. They were fresh out of the smoker and holy bejeebus they were amazing! They were pretty much the best ribs I have ever had, even better than any I have had at BBQ or rib joints! I highly recommend this place to any and everyone!
My Mom had the burger and loved it! I had the HUGE Greek Salad with chicken which was wonderful. Love this place!
The beef and pork enchiladas were excellent! This was my first time here but it definitely will not be the last. Husband had the burger and fries and was very pleased. The prices were very reasonable and the staff was a delight. Quick in and out for lunch, also. Thanks!
Every time I come here I get something different, and I have not been disappointed yet. Today I gave the bbq pulled pork sandwich a try. Just Awesome, guys!

Loved it! Will definitely go back! Great food! Our waitress Kelly was the best!!
Love the Blue Tomato - friendly staff, great yummy food, it's a weird mix of cuisine, but it works. The tamales are ridiculously good.
We are frequent diners there. The ribs are the best in town in. Y opinion. Wait staff always treats us special and everyone makes my special needs grandchild feel like a queen for the day.
great food, including ribs, mex food and burgers. Good drinks. Great servers.
Food was amazing and the service was awesome! I'll definitely be back. Kelly was an amazing waitress.
Awesome hole in the wall place. Great prices and a lot of it is home made. My favorite place

sassy funky odd service. sorta fits the whole spot. good food for lunch or early dinner mainly locals. one of the most original spots i have been in NO and that is saying something. wednesday thursday for lunch or dinner. plenty of hospital workers. step out and get one of the mexican dishes. hit it this week rating goes to a 4. just weird and fun
I absolutely love this place. I have been there several times and have no complaints at all. The food is delicious and the people there treat you like family.
Have been going here for years!!! I have never had anything that wasn't fantastic! The service is always friendly, and they get to know their regulars and their regular orders. The ribs are some of the best around. Large portions too! One of my family's favorite "go to" spots!!!
Beyond awesome. Their burgers are to die for. Not to mention, the price for the massive thing is great! My little family eat here often, my son likes the grilled chicken from the kids menu, the people there are SO nice and welcoming. It's in an awkward spot, but a fantastic business.
Lucky to find this little gem. Everything homemade, delish salsa, meatballs/spaghetti, enchiladas, we loved it all. Excellent waitress too!
Good food & Has to be friendliest place in town.. The food is good - either enchiladas, quesadillas or fajitas are what we usually get. The staff at this quaint little hole in the wall just can't be beat. Authentic New Orleans folk are the best and that's all they got here. We love going here a couple times a month. Margaritas are pretty good too :)
The lasagna was excellent & the portion was huge. Would definitely return.
Friendly service. Great food. Try the garbage can nachos. Made 2 meals out of it. Best nachos. Drove 40 miles for it.
The people here are so nice!. Funky-cool atmosphere, a little dark, but I love it, Everyone is so nice and takes time to listen if you want a little something special. Burritos are filled to the brim, delish and way enough for two. Take some time to read the menu, it's a little all over the place, but you'll see something you like. The fish tacos are UNBELIEVABLE. Fresh, hot soft tortillas, lots of lime and cilantro. I forgot to ask what type of fish it was. Get the margarita on the rocks, it'll go to your head if you haven't eaten yet. Prob the reason I forgot to ask about the fish
Delicious Food. Went today and a fiend and I split one entrée and one salad and there was plenty left over. The portions are very generous and the food is really good.
Happy Happy. Oh So Yummy! My husband ordered a hamburger and cheese fries, I got the pork carnitas. I had to take a bite of hubby's hamburger to try it because he just kept repeating "wow this is really good" .. and he was right, it was! My pork was amazingly juicy and tender and really flavorful, but because I didn't pay attention when the waitress told me what comes on the plate, I couldn't eat much because it was covered with a pile of cilantro, and i hate, HATE cilantro. Totally my fault for not hearing her say it, because my husband told me he heard her say it very clearly, but we were on our way to a movie and didn't want to be late, so i just wasn't listening. I cannot wait to go back and get the pork again WITHOUT the cilantro .. or i'll get the burger .. or i'll try the tacos .. or maybe the lasagna ..i am excited to try it all! We didn't care for the fries, but i'm sure most people would love them. My only complaint about the whole experience is that it was so very dark in the restaurant, i could barely read the menu and i couldn't see my food very well as i was trying to pick the cilantro out the pork.
This place was awesome. We had fresh fish, chicken Alfredo, and a chimichanga. Service was super friendly and we will be coming back soon.
A pleasant surprise. Far better than expected. Service was spot on, and the fish tacos were fresh and the accompanying Mexican cole slaw and dill sauce suggested by staff were terrific.
Prices were reasonable, and serving sizes were huge.
All in all, a place worth trying if you are in the area.
A good place to eat.. Had not been there for a while, so I stopped in for a burger.
With all the new fancy schmancy burger joints out there , I can't believe I forgot the Blue Tomato that gives you a 12 oz sirloin burger for about 6 bucks. (that is 3 times the meat of a similarly priced burger at Company Burger). They have battered fries , so if you like Rally-style-fries, they give you a nice size order for 1.50. That is all I got this time, and if you are not real hungry, it is enough for two. Get an app if you think you need a bit more.
A wildly diverse menu, with Mexican (I used to get this and it was good) and Italian. Nice, definitely Jefferson Parish waitresses. Nice vibe. Not a gourmet experience, but a good place to eat for a very fair price.
This is one of the best "hole in the wall" restaurants in the New Orleans area! I've been frequenting them for years and the food quality has always been great. Top items I can't say no to include the Garbage Can Nachos, Tequila Lime Chicken, Thai Ribs and Tamale Platter! I always find myself coming back here at least once a month :)
Ridiculous Good. We went to the Blue Tomato on Jefferson Highway today and had the one meal I'll have this Good Friday. They had some fresh salmon in. On the menu you can have whatever fish they have that day in a variety of sauces (Thai and honey glaze are the two I remember but there are more). I got the salmon with the honey glaze and was floored. This fish was grilled to perfection, some crusty, charcoal-y bits around the edges. The glaze was not overdone. It was sweet but faintly so. The flavor was astounding. It was served with some rice and mixed vegetables. I'm going to be obsessed with this fish until I have it again.
Being Blue Never Felt So Good!. Mon-Sat 11AM-9PM, Sun Closed. Casual. I like a place where the waitress lets you choose where to sit. Nice high-top tables in back. Quick drink service and app (chips and salsa). Thin crispy tortilla chips, loved the flavor and heat of the salsa. Interestingly, the double-sided menu comes in a sheet protector and has an eclectic mix of Mexican, Italian, Po-boys and Barbecue - a little something for everyone. The Big Burrito (choice of beef, chicken, pork, even shrimp) was loaded with beef and refried beans, and engulfed in cheese, and was as wonderful and filling as I expected! One of the few places I wish I lived closer to!
Always gets my vote.... This is a great little dive that does wonders with the food they serve. I love the Carnitas and also the chicken burrito. also very much love the HUGE burger. you can't go wrong here. The staff is awesome too. Can't wait to get back.
Awesome place. Everything is great. And the folks working there are super too.
Stopped here on a whim- so glad I did. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The fish tacos were amazing- best I've had. Fresh fresh ingredients. Will definitely return.
Great customer service! The enchiladas and fajitas are fantastic! Very flexible and allowed me to change up my order without any complaints!
Nice. Pros: Food is ok, people are nice
Cons: small inside, they charge extra for take out
Perfect Trifecta - Burgers, Mexican, & Italian. They do all 3 great. First class burgers with juicy, quality meat cooked just right. Mexican dishes never miss a beat from the tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, I've tried all of those and have been thoroughly impressed. Italian dishes give large portions as well, but the least favorite of mine out of the 3. Definitely worth the trip down Jefferson Hwy, parking is a bit difficult, but the owners and service treat you very friendly.
I LOVE THE BLUE TOMATO. Seriously, EVERYTHING is delicious. Shrimp quesadillas are probably some of the best i've ever had up to par with papasito's in Houston. Will be going back.
Burger heaven. You can't beat their burgers or plate lunches
Good place to eat.. I go here with my friends we eat and talk and just hang out. The place has good food and the prices are good.
Greatest burger ever!!!!. A friend turned me on to the Blue Tomato about 2 years ago. Since then I can't seem to get enough. I haved tried burgers all over the city and some beyond. None of them come close to the Blue Tomato. The seared tuna was great too. The staff is always friendly and Dawn always comes from around the counter to give me a hug. One night I staggered out b/c of my back problems. She came from around the counter and caught up to me in the parking area to find out what was wrong. All of the staff is like this and they always make my son and I feel welcome.
Awesome!!. Their pork quesadillas are a must eat. The food and service is wonderful! No disappointments at the Blue Tomato!
Great service, good food, super casual & inexpensive. Strong drinks but not bad.
Excellent value. Dinner for two with both of us having enough left over for another meal for $25 The pork enchiladas were delicious. my daughters hamburger was very good. The waitresses were mostly attentive and very friendly.
OoOOOooo. Enchiladaaass!!!!
Good foodnand variety. This little place is very decieving from the outside and probably would not stop unless someone told you about it. The food is good at reasonable prices with large portions. The place is great to take kids and everyone should find something they like. They have Tex-Mex, Italian, salads, seafood fried or grilled,po boys and hamburgers all of which look good although I have had the Tex-Mex when I have been there.
Tex Mex. I had the enchilada plate and split it with one pork and one chicken. They were both delicious (tasted just like home). According to the waitress the owner's trick is the cheese. He orders the best of the best. The extra 5 minutes I spent scraping my plate clean of all remnants of cheesy-goodness made perfect sense after that.
Nice change of pace. Good 3 course lunch specials straight from the counter. Really good red beans and rice.
You won't be blue after eating here! My friend James and I were looking for some good food last night. We wound up at the Blue Tomato, one of the better decisions ever made. We got the ribs, tender, pull off the bone meat. I got the Thai, James got the BBQed, these ribs were as good as I have ever had anywhere. Only downside to this place is the parking situation, try to go when it's not busy. I have a new favorite place in New Orleans.
Mouth Watering!. We went for lunch today. I had the BBQ Pork on bun with some fries, and baby had a Beef Burrito with beans and rice. Tore it UP! Really really good eatin'!
Great Place Off the Path. My wife and I along with 2 other couples decided to head out for an OUT OF uptown / gard dist / french quarter dinner a couple weeks ago. We made the right choice with the off the beaten path "Blue Tomato". We were well received by the staff in the quaint restaurant that wasn't overly crowded and headed to the bar to wait for our table. Upon a recommendation, we all had margaritas. Good choice. And after a short wait, we were led to our table to start perusing the diverse menu. We all enjoyed our drinks while not being rushed by the staff to place our entre orders. After we did though, the diversity of the menu shown though. There were orders from grilled yellowfin, to quesadillas, to fish tacos and beyond. Everything was awesome and the staff was very courteous throughout. Slam dunk for the Blue T! We'll be back.
On the Rocks. Get your margarita on the rocks; it is much better than the frozen. Great place, great food.
Small, eclectic, fresh. Nice selection, friendly staff and they make a decent margarita.
Great Hole-In-The-Wall. This place is just a few minutes from my house. Sometimes I go someplace else nearby and then think 'Crap, I should've just gone to Blue Tomato.' Everything I've had there was good, but their burger is my favorite. When they say 'Big Ass Burger', they mean it. I can put away some food, but the burger always puts a hurt on me. To me, it's just as good as Port of Call, only much more convenient.
The staff is cool, too. Like another reviewer said; "Just go".
Just go. This is one of those places you go when you feel like eating at a chain restaurant, but can't overlook your own morals. Or, when no one can decide where to eat (they've got everything). Great service, decent food, wildly diverse menu, low-ball prices.
Pretty diverse menu, everything was good that we had. Nice workers here too, stop by when you can.
Good mixed menu of fast food. Taco salad is good and like to go here when i don't know what iam in the mood for...
This is the BEST place ever. I will def tell people to go there! I went this past weekend and already ready to go back this week!
Great food. garbage can cover nachos to die for. Love the décor.
One of the best burgers in New Orleans! Good service, unquie décor, and RC Cola.
My favorite place to have a hamburger. They are the big bun burgers. Not the tiny burgers you get in most places. They have many items in the key of Mexican. And it is also a cantina, so get your shot of agavero while waiting.
Lack of staff slows everything down. Took awhile to get waited on. Shrimp qusidilla was delicious! Huge portion, took half home for next day.parkingok.
We love Blue Tomato... Food is always exceptional and never changes... They never cut corners with their recipes or how they cook.
I took my wife here on our first date in 2015. And to be honest we have always wanted to come back. We always feel welcome with Mama D in the restraunt the food is always excellent i can say i never had a terrible experience here between the pasta burgers ribs and chimichangas i dont know which i want more when im her this is an excellent restaurant with great people and great food.
After 5 years of driving by. And... . I finally stopped in. Absolutely effing awesome!!! My wife said it was great. She wasn't kidding. Awesome. I'm feel special for never going. Yet again the hole in the wall crushes it hands down. Like Arnie. I'll be back.
Very cool place! A bunch of great spirited people working, very nice. The food is great as well, wide selection, and the king cake was hot and fresh and delicious. Lovely place with a really hip vibe
