We got married at Kahua Ranch in April 2017 and wanted to do something a little unique and fun for the wedding. We had Kelly and Big Island Sweet Treats come to the Ranch and make kettlecorn on site for our wedding guests. Kelly was great to work with and the kettlecorn was delicious and reasonably priced. We highly recommend Big Island Sweet Treats for your wedding or event.
BEST ICE CREAM we have ever had! Locally made ice cream. Our family tried Mango, Pineapple and I couldn't pass up Macadamia Nut...it is THE 💣!! Wish we could have this every day!!

This place rocks. Their flavors are dye free! We have one that can't have red and she was able to choose any flavor she wanted. We tried both the shaved ice and ice cream and both were great. The staff was super kind and helpful. Get the snow cap it's so yummy. They also have sugar free flavors as well!

The best ice cream we had on the big island. The flavors were so good, we enjoyed a sundae and a double scoop ice cream waffle cone. Friendly service, delicious flavors and good value.

Best shave ice I've ever had! I got the Kona Sunset, it was yummy and refeshing. Not too sweet either! It had the best mochi on top too. I'll definitely be going back again during my trip!

They had sugar free options and though good, it is nowhere near as good as Scandinavian shave ice. It does have fine ice like Scandinavian but the flavorings are not as good. They give you about the same quantity of ice for the regular size as the keiki. That was the case for me at least. That is the reason for 4 stars. The difference seems to be the amount of flavorings you can pick. Two for the keiki and 3 for the regular. I do like the variety and creativity in the various shave ice they offer. I suspect the non sugar free options were probably amazing. Arguably, it is hard to get sugar free options that don't have a chemical taste to it. Scandinavian had some convincing options and a number of them. Gecko Girlz had 3 options and I tried all 3 flavors.
Incredible shaved ice and great, quick service with a smile from all the teens on staff! Sorry some reviewers are so nasty! Enjoyed our treat while watching the local volleyball guys in the sandpit right next door. Great vibes all around.

Visiting from 4,000 miles away and have my share regularly of shave ice in Texas. This place is the best I've ever had. Tried another place in Hilo & rating them thumbs down.
Best shave ice with the best view! Nothing hits the spot on a hot day like eating shave ice while watching the waves. The ice here is pretty smooth and the artisanal creations are creative and fun ("shark bite" oohaha!). I personally prefer any of the natural fruit flavors combined with haupia (Hawaiian coconut milk dessert) ice cream and condensed milk topping.
Lots of outdoor seating options that overlook the ocean just across Ali'i Drive.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I don't even know where to start. I dream of this now that I'm back on the mainland. Their flavors, especially the natural ones, are absolutely incredible. The guava Lychee and lilikoi were unbelievable.
I got the Kona sunset and I subbed the vanilla for the mac nut ice cream. Highly recommend it! I also added the lilikoi popper pearls and it was the best touch. They will have a long line but it moves super fast and it is absolutely worth the wait. The girls who work behind the counter are super nice and very patient with the long line of patrons and move really quickly. Their ice cream flavors are also really great!
It's super reasonably priced and run by women which I love. They also have a special check-in offer. So for all you yelpers make sure to check in. I'd recommend this place to literally anyone and everyone who is going to the Big Island. This will be my first stop when I get in next time! Obsessed!
Lava Flow is the BEST shave ice on the island. Don't miss out! You can enjoy your desert while watching beach volleyball in the courtyard. The customer service by the young girls at the shop was on point with a little Aloha :)
I will be back for more :) I went to Oahu, Maui and Big Island, but Gecko Girlz was the best hawaiian shave ice I tried. It was high quality compared to the rest. And the ice cream was delicious. It was gourmet ice cream with islandly flavors. highly recommend.
The service was great with super friendly staff! The melt in your mouth shaved ice was very good! We had the shark bite and sunset. The sunset flavors were good but different, so if you are looking for some more traditional flavors, stick with strawberry, coconut, and mango flavors.
