We were among the many attendees at the Medieval Studies Congress this weekend, and found out about Saffron via a menu that was among the maps and other local promos in the registration building. So, we figured we'd try it out, which turned out to be a great decision.
The place was extremely busy but we were seated within 5 minutes. Everyone - from the hostess, waiter, server and the owner himself - were exceedingly polite and attentive.
The food was incredibly delicious - best Tandoori chicken ever! My friend had the shrimp vindaloo and we shared tender, delicious basmati rice and garlic naan.
You'd probably expect to pay a lot more but both our dinners (before drinks) came to less than $30!!!
We'll be definitely be back next time we're in the area!
My son and I love eating at Saffron. He usually treats me for my birthday and Mother’s Day, but we visit often. We love the lunch buffet, but I have also enjoyed dinner. My favorites are the Marvelous Lamb on the dinner menu and the minced lamb and the salad on the buffet, but everything is so delicious! It really is my favorite restaurant in Kalamazoo.
This is one of the best restaurants to eat at in Kalamazoo, its thee best Indian food Ive ever had. The service is excellent, the management friendly. The servers are very knowledgeable about the dishes. Id recommend it for anyone wanting a great fine dining experience.

Fantastic service and the food is delicious. They are great with kids, too (mine are 4.5 and 2.5). I highly recommend!
An excellent place to eat, and by far the best Indian food in Michigan. The staff are always great, the owners friendly and attentive and the Vindaloo is blistering hot as it should be. My wife and I and kids go here a lot. Their menu is very diverse, and has lots of selections for the milder pallet also like my wifes. Suggestion fora great meal for two...
Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo with Nann bread. Get the Chapaty Aloo or the non-veg for two for the appetizer. You will NOT go wrong.
Yummmmmm, as always!!! The food took a while, but it was well worth the wait! Their dishes are excellent!!! The appetizers are also amazing!!! Very friendly staff!! Clean environment and diverse!
Service was fast and food was well seasoned and filling as always. The lunch buffet is a must, and the lassis are very tasty.

Saffron is one of the most consistently delicious restaurants in town. I enjoy the lunch buffet, and dinner both in the restaurant and carried out. They catered a large event for us, and everyone loved the food.
Very wonderful food, and nice atmosphere. Good service. Lunch buffet has a very good selection, and the food is always hot, fresh, and well attended. The menu has a lot of choices and it's a fun place to go for a meeting, friends, or a date. 5 stars

The food is amazing here! We love the buffet , and so do our 2 and 4 year olds. This is an awesome restaurant. Just wish the buffet was available during the weekends since we work during the week an hour away.
Really loved the food, prices were reasonable, the staff was nice enough to warn me what scale of spicy my food was before I ordered it (and it was amazing).
There were a lot of different choices and foods that I hadn't tried before, so was able to sample a good amount of dishes and a spicy yogurt drink that I really enjoyed, and the dessert was really refreshing. Staff was very attentive without being overly pushy as well.
We enjoyed the authentic Indian dishes. I ordered the Hurly- Burly Lamb Chili Fried Curry, it was not very hot but enjoyable nonetheless. My wife ordered the Gourmet Lamb Biryani which was mild (as requested). She thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was excellent.
Had a business dinner here. I'm ready for date night. Food was really good, prices was even better. Service was great also
Great to support a local business that provides a taste of India right in my backyard. I enjoyed the rice, and I thought the vegetable curry and paneer were delicious. The non-could have been a little better, but I did enjoy the location, and buffet setup. It was great to have multiple plates
One of the best food experiences I’ve had in a long time. Great service by the staff. Food was also phenomenal!! I love trying new cuisines so I made sure to order things I’ve never had before. It’s all authentic Indian cuisine with incredibly rich flavors. You will not be disappointed! If you’re not used to trying international foods, keep an open mind and ask the wait staff for suggestions! Our waiter/servers, Steven and Zoom, were super helpful.

We come here a lot for dinner. I recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala with white rice! It's always amazing. Portions are large, I always take about half home. The cheese naans are delicious! The staff is always friendly and one time we lost our keys they were so helpful.
This was some of the best Indian food I have ever eaten. The only thing I think needs to change is the group servers--they forgot our drinks. I don't know how they manage to have seven different people check on one table during the meal. Not enough to keep me from coming back.
This place is amazing. This was our first time here, but it was definitely not our last. I had the Robust Chicken Curry, and it was perfect. The staff was very helpful and quick. We even had the owner stop by our table and chat.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and we cannot wait to return.
Chicken biryani was great. Mango lassi could have been a few degrees cooler.

Delicious food and fair prices. I've been here many times and loved it every time. Everything I've tried has been amazing. You know it's good because there's always plenty of Indian people there. There is a whole page as big as the meat page that is completely vegetarian. I'm not vegetarian but I often get those options as they are delicious .
Saffron is my most frequented restaurant in Kalamazoo. I enjoy the lunch buffet, often share dinner with friends, and I frequently use their catering for my business needs. So many nourishing vegetarian options (channa dal is a fave!). Channi and Sheetal take great care with their food and their customers. And don't skip the chai!
Make sure to let them know you want less salt in your food. Our dishes were soooo salty we had to send them back.The manager was kind enough to oblige!

Suuuuuper yummy! Went with my husband and had a great time. The service is very friendly, food was very yummy, atmosphere was cozy, and prices are on point. My husband and I got apps, dinner, and dessert. Can't wait to bring my friends next time!
Good amount of vegan options! Prices are pretty standard for Indian Cuisine. A tad on the salty side. I was pleased that the spice level is quite low. Very flavorful!
