There are not too many options in Kalamazoo where you have ambiance and great non-bar food. Maru was a pleasant surprise! The sushi was amazing, their servers were very pleasant (shout-out to Gavin, Sierra, and Peyton), and the ambiance and decor were warming, welcoming, and chic. I went twice during my quick visit to the city. I really enjoyed it!

This has been a regular place for us for years. We stop by everytime we visit Kalamazoo and are never dissapointed. Each roll is carefully balanced in terms of sauce and flavors. You get just the right amount of food to be perfectly full yet not overstuffed. Service is friendly and fast. Highly recommend if you are in town or even just driving through.

Excellent non traditional sushi restaurant. The signature rolls we tried were all fun interpretations that we greatly enjoyed. The drinks were great and I loved the fun ceramics the sake came in. The wait staff was the best part about dining here. I would definitely recommend Maru over any other sushi spot in Kalamazoo based on what I’ve tried so far

What a great place to have sushi. Lots to choose from and every dish is carefully prepared. When I mentioned it was our first visit our server gave us a discount. We will be back.

I have gone to many Sushi restaurants and this is by far the best I’ve been to. Made reservations online and was promptly seated when we arrived. The building and Decor is very warm and welcoming. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic. It did take a little bit of a wait to get our meals but was well worth it. I would definitely come back again.

Best sushi I’ve ever had! Prices are decent for the quality of the dishes. Everything is very fresh and presented beautifully. My favorites are the seaweed salad and Nirvana roll. Atmosphere is very pleasant and quiet and waitresses are attentive to your needs. Parking can be a bit tricky as it’s usually filled up and being in downtown Kalamazoo with one-way streets, it can be annoying at times. Otherwise, a go-to place for some of the best sushi!

One the best places I've gotten sushi in a while! I've been on a run of bad sushi expirences, and this place reminded me why i keep trying! The dining area is beautiful, vaulted ceilings, and a nice bar with a large selection of liquor and beer. The wait staff all look like they could be on TV and are very helpful and accommodating. The sushi was very good and the miso was some of the best I've had. The seaweed salad was also very good and fresh. I can't wait to come back again or to try one of their other locations!

Literally the best sushi I've ever had. I only ordered it because that's the location speciality though I've never enjoyed the taste much, lemme say it was spectacular the cucumber paired with the crunch of tempura, bacon and of coarse, cream cheese alongsidw sake wine was a perfect refreshing combination. Very relaxed environment, rustic with a bougie kick

Wow! What an exquisite time. Went to Maru to celebrate my birthday with my husband. We had reservations, and we're seated right away. Our server, Rachael was fantastic. She gave recommendations, and really listened when I asked for specific cocktail recommendations to my tastes! The seasonal menu is an excellent way to keep things fresh, while also having a solid selection on the main menu. Everyone was friendly, we were served quickly. Due to a mixup, one of our sushi rolls came out late. We didn't mind, but the manager comped it anyways. Just absolutely considerate, excellent business practice. Very impressed, and will be back again!
