It was great always fast service and friendly staff and great food . Love the place
The dogs and root beer is amazing, but it would make it a million times better if they offered French fries to the menu!
Been going there since I was a kid. Great place great food . Some things never changed !
The hot dogs are delicious and the staff is friendly and works very hard to provide fast and friendly service :)
The hot dogs are even better the next day.
The root beer is so refreshing. I just love this place
Amazing food done fast with friendly faces. I absolutely love this place!
it is one of my favorite places they have the best dogs love it there i could eat them dogs all day long yum
Always good service and good food no matter how busy they are. One of my grandsons favorite places.
Love, love this place! One of my favorite hometown spots. The prices are very reasonable and they found great recipes and don't change them! Plus, it's always an added bonus to see Kait Lee!
Great food, great service, great price!! We go there often.

A classic of Kalamazoo! I've been coming here since I was a kid and I just love the throwback ambiance of a bygone era! Their hot dogs and root beer brings back soooooooo many memories! :-)
Best Dogs in Town. I have always loved the Root Beer Stand. I worked there in 2006 and its the one place that I worked and was able to eat the food afterward. When I worked there I probably ate just as much as I earned, since it was free for employees on shift. I also didn't get sick of it, I don't think I ever will.

Minor Throwback. Although it doesn't have quite the same sense of nostalgia as, say, West Lake Drive-In, it's a lot more conveniently located. Pull in, car-hop appears in moments to take your order, order from the extremely limited menu (basically, just hot dogs and root beer), car hop brings food, and you're off (or if you're dining "in", they'll bring an old-school window tray).
The dog is reasonable; in no sense is it great, but I'll eat a hot dog on a steamed bun with mustard an onion from pretty much anywhere and like it. The coney sauce is much the same way; not great (there are far better options in town), but passable. I'd avoid the "cheese dog"; the cheese is ball-park-style nacho cheese; never understood that on a hot dog.
If you're looking for a cheap, quick, convenient, and reasonably tasty dog, this is a good choice. If you're looking to be blown away, look elsewhere.
I have been coming to this place for decades...it's always one of my first stops when I'm back home visiting. (remember to bring cash!!)
I have been coming here my whole life. Every last day of elementary school our mom took us here to celebrate. Since then I have always gotten the same: one hot dog with just cheese, and one hot dog w/ everything on it (chili, mustard, onion), and a medium root beer.
You drive up and park and order from your car. The girls are always quick to take your order and bring it out. I also love riding my bike over and sitting at the counter on a nice day.
They are cash only, but there is an ATM. Be sure to tip your wait staff. And keep in mind that nothing here is very expensive, so 20% should be the absolute bare minimum.
Enjoy your hot dog and root beer through the spring, summer, and fall. Closed throughout the winter.
My husband and I have taken our kids here since they were small children. They are grown with children of their own. We still come here and so do they! Everything is cash. There is a simple menu of hot dogs, root beer, ham and cheese, chips, popcorn, and they just added pickles. Everything is very inexpensive .
If you haven’t been to the root beer stand for a hotdog and a root beer, get in the car, hop on the bike, or run down here right this minute because hitting this spot is like stepping back in time to the best part of the 70s. The waitresses come right up to your car and the menus are posted directly in front of you and then they bring you your meal and put it on the window. The service is fast, friendly, and helpful. The food was delicious and priced fairly. The drinks were ice cold and delicious; best root beer around! I always hit this spot when I’m in town.
There is nothing to compare RootBeer Stand hot dogs to. They are in a class all their own. I have eaten here multiple times since I was a kid. I moved away 22 years ago. Whenever I get back to Michigan, I make sure I eat here at least once.
I love this place for a summer treat. The limited menu means you get fast food and service at a reasonable price. It is not gourmet food but good fast food done well

We love this place. It has good food and is a fun place to eat.
The girls there are so nice. Jenny is the best. She is so sweet and makes you feel like family.
Four words-
House-made root beer. Being someone who was born in 1970, I have many vivid, sun-tinted memories of hot summer days filled with all-day suburban rambling with my pack of pals during summer vacation from achool. I can smell hot dogs with crisp grill marks, feel the dewy condensation sliding down the outside of a chilled mug filled with root beer from the little shack down the road that had the best dogs, burgers, chili and root beer in town.
This place is that and more. This is my first summer in Michigan (after living in New Orleans for a decade) and due to the weeks of closures and being connfined to our house, I had not yet gotten to experience this incredible place. I left here full in every way-my belly full of fantastic chili cheese dogs and sublime root beer, my heart full of nostalgia and my soul full to the top with simple pleasures done exactly right.
Ended up visiting on the last day of the season. Staff is always friendly and polite, food was great, I visit at least once a year.
We took our 6 year old grandson to the Root beer stand for his first drive in experience- 2 hotdogs, root beer, and a popcorn for later. Perfect addition to a Scooby-Doo movie and Lego building!
This place is a staple in Kalamazoo. The food is still similar in its quality since I was a kid. Old school drive in vibes.
This is where our Mom would take us when doing the laundry and to have dinner out. I live in Oregon now but I miss this wonderful place.
Nostalgic spot for me, hasn't changed in 30 years. Simple menu, hotdogs, chips, rootbeer and rootbeer floats. Always nice for a simple lunch when out running errands.
Best draft root beer around! This is a blast from the past, and the simple menu is simply good food. Stay in your car and have quick, friendly service. Prices are reasonable, won't break the bank. Fun experience!
I cant say how amazing john at the root beer stand is he went above and beyond today with my family my son was having a rough day and he made his day thank you for your kindness we will be returning
Even though they only take cash for some odd reason they have really super good rootbeer floats and people are very nice and welcoming there, I’d say definitely a place I’d come back too.
A classic drive in experience. Basic, but good food and great prices.
Been coming here for 20 years. Love it. Great Chilli dogs. Great root beer. Highly recommend
