My sister and I really loved our lunch here. Having never been before, we were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. The food was fantastic, and the portions can be quite large! Easily shared on most things. Absolutely a flavor sensation. Our server was knowledgeable, and extremely friendly. She also told us about some awesome places to shop around the area! I really love how beautiful this place is.

Reservations are preferred but it worked out OK for us : an hour after the lunch hour. Prices pretty high but Large portions ( in fact, we ordered One meal for the two of us and brought some home). Our pork was Delicious and tender. Sides were how we remembered from our trip "over the pond". My beer was dark and flavorful, not bitter ( in fact with sweet under tones ). The dessert ( apple strudel) was a Great way to finish. Mario was our waiter and did a fantastic job. Not loud, and very comfortable. We will be back this Summer for their Bier Garden.

Authentic Austrian cuisine, which came down to the drinks! Food was delicious, though wish they didn’t serve certain dishes only on certain days of the wk though. Loved their variety of bread they brought out. The atmosphere was amazing! Would go back.

We absolutely adored our dining experience at Grünauer. Every dish was a delight, and the menu was meticulously crafted. It felt as though we were transported to Austria, savoring authentic Bavarian cuisine. The inclusion of items and dishes typically found only in Europe added to the fantastic experience of enjoying them right here in Kansas City. The portion sizes offered excellent value for the money. I'm eagerly looking forward to exploring more of the menu as we progress through the seasons."l

We visited the restaurant following a concert and it was such a wonderful way to extend the festive feeling of the evening. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was reflective of holiday cheer. The food was delicious and the portions are generous. Our waiter provided help with descriptions of the entrees for us, as new patrons to the restaurant. He was patient and attentive. Highly recommend!

Wow! I was in town for a short time with family and we got last minute reservations for dinner. What a cozy, beautiful space! Oh, and the food was delicious! I am primarily vegetarian and had a delicious vegetarian dish. It was so good, everyone in my family tried some and my mom even tried to make a version of it for our Thanksgiving. Can’t recommend this place higher!

Great food, but our experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Let me start off by saying the starting service and food was excellent. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and beer pairings. The strip steak was flavorful and the mashed potatoes were delicious without being overpowered by the accoutrements. Try the appetizer salad. It is well mixed with a delightful dressing. The drinks were well made and priced. They have a wide selection of beers and wines, all tastefully selected. But the problem was after our meal, I noticed a price discrepancy and spoke with a nearby waiter. He pointed out it is specifically priced different than the others, with a number next to it. He offered to look at the menu, which he then pulled out several of. They were all missing said number. He said the menus were new, made that day. No apology or any sort of effort was made to rectify the issue. Excellent food. Service however....

We had the three course lunch meal. $22. Great deal. The salad was tart and tasty with goat cheese and bacon vinaigrette. The braised beef gulasch was delicious and had a mild kick. The schnitzel was juicy and flavorful. The apple strudel and the cheese strudel were the perfect finish to the meal. Beware the strong coffee. Two cups sent me into caffeine overload. I made the reservation via Open Table and noted that one member of the party was celebrating a birthday. There was no mention made of that by the hostess or server.

Absolutely delicious! I have never tried this type of cuisine and it was honestly the most mouth watering meal I have ever had. Me and my fiance will make this a regular date night spot. 100% recommend! I will dream of this meal.

Went here last night for my 5 year anniversary with my wife. We were promptly seated (had a reservation), and served drinks. Appetizer bread basket was a fun experience with delicious freshly baked bread. Entrees were amazing. This is an Austrian restaurant, NOT German. Dessert also incredible. To top it off, our server Mario was excellent.

Very generous portions. Food is somewhat simple, but that's what you would expect from Germanic dishes. It tasted similar to what I ate when I was over there. The server was good and explained the menu well. The interior is very interesting as well. Parking is very good.

This is the most authentic German/Austrian food I have tasted. The portion is really good. The servers are very friendly. I came during Christmas time and it was very festive and yet looked really cozy.

A fine dining experience with intriguing German cuisine perfect for date night or ladies night out. The ambiance is one of quiet candlelight. The service is excellent - with posh, knowledgeable wait staff like you see in the movies. And the food? Both exotic and comforting at the same time. Make reservations as far in advance as you can!

Great way to celebrate our anniversary. Helpful staff, ready with suggestions and pairings. He was also very knowledgeable about the menus. My husband had no problem finding something gluten-free to eat. When the food arrived, it looked incredible, and i couldn't want to dig in.

Grunauer is one of the best fine dining restaurants in KC! Had the Salzburg Wienerschnitzel which was stuffed with bacon, ham and mushrooms - to die for!! Had cheese and apple strudel but the cheese was the BEST! Can’t reccomend this place enough!

I've been for dinner and happy hour but after a positively delicious lunch, it was time to give this place 5 stars. They just started doing a 2 course prix fixe for lunch for $17! But of course I wanted something not on the lunch menu. The smoked salmon in buckwheat crêpe was excellent. The goulash (which IS on the lunch menu) is divine. 2 great salads. And a basket of 4 kinds of rolls with butter and quark cheese. Sooooo happy

This is the best German/Austrian restaurant I’ve been to in the US. Rare to find this kind of food done well with great ingredients and authentic flavors. I grew up with German cooking at home and have lived in Germany. It’s the kind of well-made, ingredient-focused elevated Germanic comfort food that is even difficult to find in Gasthäuser in Germany/Austria nowadays. Tried the mushroom Gulasch, Schnitzel, and salad assortment, all of which I can highly recommend. They use the special green pumpkin seed oil from the Styrian region of Austria in their dressings. The portions are generous so come hungry or bring friends who eat a lot. This is an absolute must if in the KC area and if you’re a fan of Germanic food it wouldn’t be remiss to plan a special trip to KC just to go here. Großes Kompliment an die Küche!
