Let me start by saying “bring your appetite!” Their portions are huge! The food was delicious, the service top notch and the atmosphere was great! All topped off with yummy sweet rolls at the end for reasonable prices! Must give Strouds a taste!
I unfortunately didn’t get the name of our server but she had shorter blonde hair, wore glasses and was amazing! We came in around 6:45 p.m last night!
She provided excellent service. The food was great, hot, fresh and we got so full we felt ill,
in a good way!
I recommend the chicken bites with the spicy sauce/honey mustard to dip them in! The cottage fries are super yummy, get the soup with your dinner not a salad! The soup is fantastic!
The shrimps were massive! The fried chicken was pure perfection, crispy, juicy, tender. Save room for the cinnamon rolls!!
This is my second time here. I was In town for a work training function and Stroud's was recommended by a local coworker. Both visits did not disappoint. Food was home cooked and delicious! The staff here are amazing, they all make you feel welcome and at home. Food portions were satisfying enough that both times I had to have a to go box to take home. If you are looking for a wonderful place with great food and amazing staff, then I highly recommend Stroud's. The pan fried chicken, steak, mashed potatoes , green beans, chicken noodles soup and cinnamon rolls are all great! Thank you again!
We celebrated a birthday & had such a wonderful time. The cozy feel of Strouds & remembering all the times we went growing up just makes this place a part of my heart. Best chicken noodle soup & fried chicken livers & gravy. Lots of people at the table raved about the cinnamon rolls also.

Im from the St. Louis, Mo area. As someone who has been all over the country to 400+ chicken-centric establishments this place is what I dream about. Finding a restaurant like this is harder to find than a piece of straw in a haystack. Every. Single. Thing. Is. PHENOMENAL. The atmosphere, the ambiance, the decor, the friendly staff. All A++, S-tier, accommodations. Not to mention the historical significance. They have a land charter signed by John Quincy Adams for Pete’s sake. Now the food is obviously why you come here in the first place. You open the door and the smell of lard fills your nostrils. THIS is a good sign. Words cannot describe how juicy and delicious this chicken was. Every bite filled my mouth with what can only be described as love and tenderness incarnate. I particularly enjoyed the “Mikes Spicy Sauce”. This buttery, peppery, mildly sweet concoction really kicks it up a notch, as a famous New Orleanian once said. I wish they sold it by the gallon because I would surely buy it to take with me across our great state of Missouri. The sides are immaculate as to be expected but what REALLY blew me away, aside from the nigh-perfect chicken, was the cinnamon rolls served at the end of the meal. Free of charge, or at least incorporated into the cost of the entrees. These things melt in your mouth. Literally just rolls covered - no, soaked, in cinnamon butter. At the end of the day this chicken scores with a tie as the best chicken I’ve EVER had from ANYWHERE in my ENTIRE life. 9.7/10 clucks. If you live within a 12 hour drive of this place then it is your duty to make the pilgrimage. The journey will yield rewards beyond your wildest expectations. Trust me.

This was an amazing experience for us! The food was great (served family style); the service was outstanding! We didn’t know what to expect having gotten the recommendation from a client that last visited the area a number of years ago. There aren’t enough words to describe how great this place was! We will definitely go back if we’re ever in the area! We even got hugs from the hostess as we were leaving!
The food was so good! Hot and fresh. I ordered the jumbo shrimp, and they did not disappoint. The restaurant is an old house that has been extended for more seating, which created a very welcoming atmosphere. We went there for my adult daughter's birthday, and the entire restaurant joined in to sing the happy birthday song! Wonderful experience. Our waitress was so bubbly and on point with her service. I highly recommend this place. EVERYTHING tasted excellent. My only concern was that our cups of water were already sitting at the table uncovered, and straws were not covered in paper or plastic and placed in our cups with no gloves. That should be handled a bit more sanitary.

Holy cow. This place is awesome. I just love their chicken and all the fixings that go with it but the best part is at the end when you get the cinnamon roll. Highly recommended.

Yea it’s 3x the price of Popeyes or KFC but it’s so worth it. The gizzards are amazing! I been coming here for a decade, it has not changed any and still as amazing as 10years ago. They are so consistent and offer great customer service experience. I wrote this review before digging in but I have no doubt the food is about to be amazing….
Just keep in mind the wait time is always long, that’s the only downside of this place.
We dined in the oldest part of the building which is an historic log cabin. The ambiance was amazing.
The fried chicken is one of their signature dishes, but the meat and batter were both bland. The chicken would have been better if it was brined, and the chicken batter needs more spices because it tasted like pure flour.
The chicken-fried pork chop and pan-fried pork chop were much better than the fried chicken.
The mashed potatoes had a good texture, but they were lacking in flavor. I had to add a lot of salt and butter.
The chicken noodle soup, green beans, and cinnamon rolls were top notch.
The food, staff and atmosphere are great. I've never had better chicken in a restaurant (although the green beans are not my favourite style) and who else has chicken gizzards on the menu! The value for money is unbeatable. This place is really a treasure. They don't take reservations so be prepared for a wait but the service is fast once you're seated.

From the pan-fried chicken skillets to the seared cast iron steaks to Chicken gizzards. Fried chicken and Chicken fried steaks are great the food is phenomenal. The staff I've found to be even better. If something is wrong with your meal. Politely let someone know and you leave smiling full and happy. Nap time Comfort food. I've found that anywhere you go to grub or dine. If you're Polite then they are, the kitchen is not perfect, and sometimes numerically you get something off. Let staff know and it's always cool. This is a KC staple. Enjoy I hope I helped. I've never had an issue. I just watch the staff and they are a well-oiled machine.

This is the best fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans. The food tastes like how my grandma made her's. The staff is so friendly and willing to help any way they can. The old country house ambiance makes for a quaint meal with family and friends. The cinnamon rolls are so yummy. Definitely recommend if you want a family style restaurant with food how Grandma cooked. 👍
Just as good as I remember as a kid. Some of the best fried chicken and personable service around. The portions are very large!
