My favorite restaurant in KC! Live the atmosphere, good and service. This is what a restaurant ought to be. No big open rooms with lots of noise. Each booth and table are private. Dark rich wood
Chaz was a great find within the Raphael Hotel. It has a speakeasy feeling to it, and the brunch dining (eggs benedict) was very good. We had drinks on the patio the night before as well which were also fantastic as was the friendliness and attentiveness of the wait staff. I am sometimes leary of hotel restaurants for assuming guests are captive, but the team at Chaz was very service-oriented and took good care of us.
We celebrated our wedding here, with a small group, after the ceremony. The food was amazing, and the staff made us feel so special! Even playing a song for us to dance too!
Delicious courteous decadent meal Citrus Goat Cheese salad, the Sea Bass and the Filet. our Server was Katherine. She was amazing friendly and enthusiastic she inspired resilience for The Chaz!!
Very excellent service and food was amazing as well as reasonably priced especially for a hotel restaurant. Highly recommend the Norwegian Benny for breakfast and the Duke Welly for dinner.
Lovely restaurant and bar in the Raphael Hotel! Had breakfast here daily which was delicious and did not disappoint. Came back in the evenings for jazz and some drinks. Staff was friendly and the music was lovely!
We love Sunday nights at Chaz! Great music by the Mengel Brothers. The service is the best. And the good-delicious. Highly recommend!
Had the opportunity to take my family to Chaz for lunch during KC Restaurant Week. My family was amazed by the service food! Our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu items, and gave great recommendations! Will definitely come back!
We were in town for a concert on a Sunday night. The Raphael gave us $150 credit for dinner with the Sunday Getaway package. The vibe of the place was relaxing and elegant. The Steak Diane is a signature dish and it was amazing! The drinks were pretty and tasty. If in town, don't skip Chaz! Friendly service. Hopefully next time we can stay for the live jazz show!
Chaz on the plaza is always a favorite for us on Sundays when we just want to get away. Have been here multiple times for dinner..drinks and breakfast. The atmosphere and people and the staff have always been great. On some nights live music...not sure which nights.
The salad was small but had very good flavor. The best was the Hanger Steak Diane, perfectly cooked steak with a great sauce. The shrimp and grits were alright. They had plenty of other options that looked good, worth going back to try I think. 7/10 would recommend
My fiance and I went to Chaz to celebrate my birthday and it was so good we went back two weeks later. Everything about this place is exceptional.
SERVICE: Each time or waiter was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Alive with personally and focused on making sure your dining experience is exceptional. Not only able to make recommendations but able to explain each dish, it's origins, and suggest perfect pairings. The service alone is worth coming for
FOOD: The food is exceptional! Make it a point to try the chefs "mushrooms of the day" you cannot go wrong. We have yet to order anything that was not prepared to perfection and the flavor profiles are remarkable. Skipping a dessert is a BIG mistake.
DRINK: Home of one of my two most favored drinks in KC: The Hazy Haden. The glass comes out over a small burner to fill it with smoke and then you add Basil Hayden at your leisure. An experience and a delight
ATMOSPHERE: Very charming, quaint and romantic. It's easy to feel like the only people in a completely full restaurant.
This place is a genuine 10/10.
Food was amazing. The mole on the seabass and the chimichurri sauce on the steak were to die for. The customer service was also outstanding. It was our Anniversary dinner and they brought us a card, flower, and a free dessert.
My first meal at Chaz on the Plaza was highly enjoyable. I was greeted immediately upon entering the establishment. I was well seated looking out onto the Plaza. As I enjoy people watching while eating!
My meal was amazing đđ! I had the Kansas City Brisket & Eggs. The brisket cut was lean & juicy. My đ„were scrambled light & fluffy. The exterior of potato cake was firm but had a moist interior. The âwas decent!
The service was above par!
Upscale dining atmosphere with a very clean bathroom. Our server was fantastic! For example, our server provided honey with my hot lemon water, which rarely happens. All the food we got tasted great. I highly recommend their Vichyssoise Soup (without black pepper) and Almond Flour & Orange Cakes (gluten free).
Visiting from Canada and enjoyed a nice thanksgiving meal here. We were a large party but our server was fantastic ! She was patient and frequently checked up on us. The set menu was nice but I kind of wish I wouldâve ordered the salmon instead of the prime rib (the horse radish sour cream was way too strong and was not a nice compliment to the meat, a nice gravy wouldâve been better). The truffle Mac and cheese was probably my fav part of the meal. I was looking forward to dessert but by the time it was time to eat it, I was already so stuffed !
We loved our anniversary dinner at Chaz while we were staying at The Raphael. Pros: delicious food and extremely nice help. We particularly loved the Almost Avocado Toast appetizer, dry aged steak, and key lime cheesecake. It's hard to choose cons but if we have to: pricey, smaller portions, and sitting behind the bar was noisy. All in all it was a good place to chill for a beautiful dinner out.
{2018 KC Restaurant Review}
Chaz was our first lunch date of KCRW. My husband and I had never been before, so we did not realize it was inside the Raphael Hotel, but that was my mistake due to lack of preparation. We enjoyed our meal! Our service was great and overall a nice experience.
First Course:
{Shrimp Cocktail} - pretty straight-forward, clean shrimp w/ an extra spicy horseradish sauce. A little hot for my taste but my husband loved it.
{Pork Ribollita Soup} - savory & flavorful
Second Course:
{Braised Pork Shank w/ Roasted Garlic Risotto} - our favorite, but we are huge risotto lovers!
{6 oz. Grilled Bistro Filet w/ Potato & Herb Rosti, Caramelized Cauliflower w/ Gruyere & Hollandaise Sauce} - filet was a little undercooked; we ordered medium and it was most definitely medium-rare (still purple/bluish!). My husband like the potato & herb rosti, but I did not care for the texture.
