I was looking for a new spot for Chinese/Mongolian food and I hit the jackpot with this place. I did a little research and the reviews were fabulous. The food pictured below was: fried rice, sesame chicken, scallion pancake and dumplings. Everything was so tasty! The sesame chicken was hands down the best sesame chicken I’ve ever had. It wasn’t too sweet, it wasn’t fried and has this amazing “crunch”. I will be a customer for life! I can’t wait to try the Mongolian BBQ next!
I forgot how much I love this place! Things have changed a little since I have been there (years ago). It the food is still so good! We had all you can eat seafood and meat $23/pp on the weekend they only option is all you can eat, no one bowl only :(. The prices have raised, but so has everyone else’s. I recommend following the recipe so you get the correct consistency and heat level!
Great place to eat! Staff is friendly and food is good. When my mom was around she loved this place
Expect a huge rush during lunch. We got there and waited 10 minutes to be at because they were so busy. There was only 1 server and the host/owner (?) was helping out, but it made it very slow. Other than that, everything here was excellent! Food was delicious, and the owner lady was super nice! Will definitely be returning!
This place has a great relaxing atmosphere and the hostess was very friendly. Food was really good. Definitely will be back with the family. I just happen to get off work late from the hospital and this was 2 block away.
The food was yummy but the buffet part was super confusing so we went the al a carte route. I got the Mongolian chicken special and the flavor was good. However it was sitting in a pile of grease which was off-putting. The general tsao and crab rangoon were really good. I also thought this place was a little on the pricier side than other similar restaurants.
Hubby and I went for an early evening dinner and the waiter was the best waiter we’ve had in a long time. We ordered the Chicken Wings and the dumplings 🥟 my husband is not a fan of dumplings but he was a fan of these homemade delicious and savory dumplings with the sauce served on the side..yummy. The chicken wings were so delicious. He ordered the seafood, beef and chicken in fresh jalapeño basil sauce entree and the flavor was perfect and not too spicy but balanced enough to enjoy the entire entree. I ordered the shrimp and broccoli 🥦 and added chicken with mushrooms in garlic 🧄 sauce. The best choice I made, it was so flavorful and delicate and I will definitely order it again. We will be returning to enjoy other delicious options from the menu and we can’t wait!!
First time here and definitely will be back wonderful customer service and it is beautiful inside
My girlfriend kept telling me that Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ was better than BD's Mongolian BBQ. I told her that I would be the judge of that and she won. Genghis Khan is indeed better , and it all just seems so much fresher. Also the prices are actually cheaper than BD's. Also the atmosphere is alot nicer and the restaurant is fancier looking .
No where near as good as the Mongolian we got at kahns back in Minnesota, but this is the best we've found in the area.
If this were anywhere else, I would give it a 3 star, but I want it to stand out above the Hyper inflated reviews of Mongolian in the area.
The sauces just aren't quite right. I recommend getting multiple small bowls opposed to one large one so you can do a bit of trial and error. None of the sauces are spicy whatsoever so just choose a sauce that sounds best to you (Unless you are Hyper sensitive to spice. The spicy is considerably less than taco bell medium). This is this places biggest downfall.
The "spicy" sauce tastes the best imo.
The meat selection is good, however, they need more veggies and other toppings as the plates always seem to end up meat heavy. Be mindful of this when making your plate.
There are plenty of noodle choices.
The people working the grill seem to do a good job, everything always seems cooked properly. Other service is good as well, my water was always refilled and I drink quickly.
Prices are $12.50 for as many plates as you want. $15.50 if you want seafood as well.
Monday-Thursday there is a one plate option for a few bucks less.
What a delightful experience! Our waiter Drew was fabulous. The options were plentiful and food delicious. I especially appreciated all of the GF and vegetarian options. The restaurant was super clean, open, and bright. The atmosphere was fun! I felt like I dined with friends even though I popped in on vacation for the first time ever. I love this little area! Trendy and fun. Really great experience!
Lots of options for those of us that prefer not to eat meat. Black beans, edamame, red peppers, carrots, noodles, etc. They kept my serving apart from the other entrees they were cooking. I don’t usually like crab Rangoon;there’s was quite good. Couple of draw backs... they don’t tell you if you eat the appetizers from the appetizer bar and dessert bar you are charged for meat and no egg rolls at lunch on the appetizer bar.
5 stars when I reviewed years ago, and 5 starts up until it announced its closing. This was my favorite restaurant in kc, I will absolutely miss it. Rip, Basil Chicken Pot. Rest in glorious food heaven.
Absolutely one of the best Asian restaurants I've ever been to. Excellent full menu with apps, cocktails, rice dishes, noodles, soup, wine, you name it. Also, a uniquely wonderful Mongolian style BBQ that is full of interesting sauces and fresh ingredients to create your own custom bowl of goodness. Easy to eat vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free which is a rarity
My experience was wonderful! I came in on a Saturday night around 4:30pm, and I was impressed with how swift, quick, and smooth the service was all evening. I had Juliette for a server, and since I was dining for one, I was able to see her consistency and attentiveness with the other patrons’ throughout my pleasant and peaceful experience. She was very warm and welcoming, and provided great recommendations and conversation. I ordered the curried chicken hot pot, as well as a hot & sour soup with a side of crab Rangoon’s and a Coconut Mojito, all were super delicious and I could tell quality is something of high value to the establishment. Definitely a 10/10 overall dinner and I will be back soon to try more of the drinks as well as the buffet! 🍜
The food was very delicious. Our server wasn't the most talkative but he got our meals and drinks out quickly and was polite. I ordered the shrimp, scallion, chicken, beef in jalapeño basil sauce and the theologian aloe cocktail would recommend both
