I was looking for Szechuan boiled fish (on their menu , "Szechuan Fish with Hot Chili Oil" or 水煮鱼) and they're one of few places in KCMO where I could find it. it was easy to place an online order and pickup. My food was well packaged, which is critical with a colourful oily soupy dish! I also got the Cumin Tofu Skewers and Bean Curd & Vegetable Soup (free with order minimum). It's been about ten years since I had 水煮鱼 and it did not disappoint. I also really enjoyed the tofu skewers and the soup. I will be back soon.
I love this place so much! Authentic cuisine, delicious, and consistent. Do yourself a favor and get the Spicy Crispy Chicken Kin Lin style from the traditional menu. Staff are amazing too!
Good place to grab some Chinese... I was very impressed with the server. She was very knowledgeable with all the menu items. Will likely be back if I'm back in that area.

Today was the first time I went into the restaurant for a meal; I've previously ordered takeout from here before and was happy with it.
I generally get the 皮蛋瘦肉粥 (rice porridge with century egg and pork). The price is reasonable and it's chock full of century eggs throughout (which I love, so that's a plus). It's one of the very few places in town that I've seen that even offer this dish. It's a nostalgic taste of family home cooking for me.
My boyfriend ordered the pickled vegetables and pork intestine, and some sesame chicken. That was delicious as well. The pickled vegetable and pork intestine dish had a nice kick to it, a decent amount of spice. The sesame chicken was not too overbearingly sweet.
The only criticism I might have up until now would be the fried rice that came with the entrees was pretty heavy on the soy sauce.
I also noticed they have ho fun noodles on the menu, which I'll definitely try next time. Ho fun noodles are inexplicably hard to find at Chinese restaurants in KC for some reason, so I'm excited that they offer them here.
Service was friendly and the decor was nice. The booths are a wee bit tight but manageable.
Definitely returning when I'm craving some rice porridge or other familiar dishes. They also have things like steamed fish with ginger and mussels in black bean sauce, which are mainstay dishes in my family and I really want to try those here.
You walk in and are immediately greeted with the warm smile of the elderly owner and rich smell of Chinese cuisine. The decor and atmosphere are unlike anything I've seen before in a Chinese restaurant. The food. THE FOOD. They make the best orange chicken I've ever had. Their other dishes, like General Tao Chicken, are amazing as well. In addition to entree the sides are warm and delicious. In particular the egg rolls, I'd advise dipping them in the chilli oil. YUM! Lastly, the waitress was just wonderful! She was kind, patient, and knew her stuff. She is really good at advising your meal decision. Overall, this restaurant has brightened my pallet and earned it's place at the top of my "would dine again" list.
KIN LIN is my favorite Chinese restaurant in town! It specialized in authentic Hunan style Chinese food. Decent atmosphere and decor. Service is good as well. Please stay open for years😊.
This is a KC Midtown/Brookside staple. Amazing comfort food from wonderful people. Their delivery guy is the sweetest person on earth. I love their orange chicken, chicken lo main, beef and broccoli, kung pao chicken, beef and green beans, and sesame chicken. Egg rolls are rad, as well as their crab Rangoon.
I love eating here. Lo mein and egg drop soup are my faves. Not a fan of the fried rice that comes with lunch. Not much flavor. But you get a lot of food for the money.
As far as delivery/take-out goes, one of the best values I've ever had. In case anyone is wondering, these are pictures of two menu items I had delivered to me via Postmates. The first one is the Kung Pao Chicken with Peanuts (lunch special). The second picture is Spicy Crispy Chicken (lunch special)
My favorite Chinese place in KC! They can get busy, but that’s for good reason! They use quality chicken and vegetables. My boyfriend found the chicken and broccoli to be a little plans but my chicken and tomato was great and the spicy crispy chicken is always good!
I have been coming to Kin Lin's now over 20 years. Even when we moved out of state, we come back here every visit. Now with CoVID, we cannot sit inside BUT that really doesn't matter. The food is as magnificent as ever! I will keep supporting local businesses, like Kin Lin's. We must get through this, together!

Good restaurant. The flavor was good and the price was okay. It also had some really nice decor.
Ive been here so on so many occasions and never had a bad meal. The group I go with has yet another tradition - and here is a go-to.
Except this time they ran out of hot green tea. Huh? It was freezing outside.
Come on, folks. Keep our go-to solid. It was 8pm. Ah, well. It won't be 23 degrees for ever.
But still.
The Orange Chicken is still my favorite.

We have been coming to KIN LIN for years and always find fast, friendly service and fresh, delicious food. We recently stopped in for lunch and ordered our favorite dish, green bean and tofu, along with some Crab Rangoon and fried rice. Everything was hot and wonderful, perfectly seasoned and elegantly served. Our server was personable and efficient. We plan to go back to KIN LIN and hope that others may enjoy their food as well.
Absolutely delicious chinese food! Even though it was clear they were overwhelmed, the service remained kind and polite.
Staff is friendly, food is good, portions are pretty large, service is quick. Really convenient location for college students. Maybe not the most amazing chinese food you'll find, but still pretty good, and other positives make up for any points lost.
