It's not a huge spot; it's not super fancy. But the food is solid, and it has a kind of gritty-local vibe. Is it Korean? Japanese? Chinese? A Midwest amorphous blend of KBQ and crab Rangoon- certainly. This is not K-town in Los Angeles. It's also not a grill your own Korean BBQ thing. It is decisely KCMO.
Our second time coming here, the mama's chicken was just as good as we remembered it. It is their most popular serving and questionable in its regional origins. We have also had the wings - a solid choice. The menu also includes some tofu options and pescaterian options, if that's your thing. Given that it is downtown, you have to find parking, but there are meters around the corner that take cards and quarters. It is somewhat conveniently close to the Tmobile arena and a few other spots. Prices are reasonable for downtown. There's also a nice selection of drinks including some Japanese Whiskey selections. And it's in an old bank building with a vault, which is kinda cool.
This is a solid, hip spot for good food. Not pretentious. Just good. I imagine some art bro headed to first Friday's at Crossroads will try to impress some gal with his culinary prowess by taking her to authentic KBQ here. This is not that. But she could do worse.
It was very busy when I came in and the bartender apologized in advance for any extra wait. Service was quick and staff was attentive. I thought the food was fresh and sharp. I increased the level of spiciness on the Spicy BBQ Pork and Rice Cake dish which I would highly recommend if you like heat. Great casual spot with trendy music and feels.
Kobi Q was an amazing experience. Some of the most friendly and helpful staff and home of one of the best resutrants we have been to in the KC area. We have had our fair share of Korean food around KC and Overland Park and we have to say this is our no. 1 spot by far. All the food options we ordered were perfect and tasted amazing. We got the...

🥟 Beef Dumplings
🍗 Korean Fried Chicken (Spicy Dry Rub Sichuan & Sweet Galic Glazed)
There Korean Fried Chicken was some of the best we've ever had. It was so good infact we ordered two orders for our party. It's a definite must try when visiting. We also highly reccommened their cocktails of the night. You can't go wrong with any of the options. 🍹 Can't wait to visit again soon. 💚
Bimbim pap's the word! I've always wanted to try a little taste of Seoul and I found it in Kobi Q. I was taken by this little resto with very nice ambiance and the food is just SUPERB! I'll be coming back for dinner and the ambiance sometime soon. I highly recommend it for couples who are in for comfort food! Highly, highly, Highly recommended!
Had a fantastic lunch here on a Saturday. Poor lady was working the restaurant floor by herself, but was super nice. I got beef dumplings, and the Spicey Chicken BBQ w/ Rice cakes. Both were fantastic and fresh. The dumplings were light and crisp, you could tell they were fresh. And the BBQ was very flavorful, had crunch from the veggies, rice to sop up the juice. The rice cake is like a gnocchi and I never had anything like it. Was chewy and a good contrast to the other textures. Wish this place was in a better neighborhood, but I'll be coming back.
Absolutely lights out. Each dish was flavorful, fresh and incredibly delicious. Our waitress was friendly, very helpful and really enhanced our dining experience.
We ordered multiple dishes to try a variety of things

One of our favorites was the Spicy BBQ Pork + Rice Cakes. It was so packed full of flavor, the pork was tender, the added onions and cabbage were a great textural difference and the rice cakes were perfectly cooked. The small amount of coleslaw on the side was a great cool addition for the spicy pork. The Garlic Mama Shrimp were gigantic shrimp that were fried to perfection. Not too much batter and the garlicy sauce was something I'll be trying to find in Omaha until we can get back to KC. The Sweet Garlic-Glazed KFC was unbelievable. The crunchy fried crust on the outside of the hot chicken with the sticky sweet sauce was an amazing combination. My family was stuffed from eating all the other items but we couldn't help but finish this plate of deep fried glorious chicken.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Can't wait to go back.
Food was excellent! Service was not. They needed a lot more help. Would come back.
Got takeout twice with my wife, korean BBQ is 1 of our favorite. The fried chicken is AMAZING! I love the sweet wet rub and she loves the spicy dry rub. The spicy rice cakes are good 8/10, depends on your preference. We will continue to go back! 👣👣
I miss living minutes from Kobi Q. When they first opened, I visited the day of their opening and was blown away. Every time I’m back in the Midwest I stop in for my favorites, and every time I’m glad I did. Spicy Pork w/ Rice Cakes and the fried Chicken Wings are great to try on the first trip, then check out their Kimchi Soup on the next for a savory but cozy vibe. 10/10 can’t wait to be back; love you guys!
Small on the outside and easily missed but a nice little gem. Interior is nice, the skylight is the highlight especially at lunch. Makes the space feel very open.
Menu isn't extensive but it's all good. My wife and I got a bunch of stuff. Ran up the bill lol but no complaints on any dish we ordered 👌🏾
