Placed a takeout order over the phone and the lady was quick and helpful. Came to pick up and while I had to wait a few minutes to be greeted/pay, the lady helping me was super nice, she even threw in a free order of egg rolls. Good food, good service.
This is easily the best Chinese food in the area. Best flavor and breading on their chicken. Has a nice crisp to it and not soggy like most places. The chicken is seasoned and flavored incredibly well. Comes with large entrees which could definitely be shared. The lady who always rings us up is so so nice. They stay open until 10 and 10:30pm which is nice too.
The date that my girlfriend and I didn’t know we needed! Cute, intimate and authentic! It’s one lady that will get you taken care of and get you in and out, but you won’t feel rushed! Prices are more than reasonable and the chicken fried rice, crab Rangoon best I’ve had! Heated up the rice 2 more times in hotel for how big of a portion between the two of us. My gf also have props to the spring rolls. Don’t expect big buffet or 5 star dining. Expect a new experience!
Food is pretty decent, especially for being open later at night. Love the vintage look of the place, idk why everyone complains about the woman there, she is super nice and gives me free drinks just for tipping. Maybe that's the problem, y'all aren't tipping that sweet lady
So so good and Heidi is so nice! Been here twice now and here's what we ordered:
Appetizers:
- shrimp toast: crunchy fried shrimp breaded awesome. Great flavor and texture.
- crab rangoons: cheesier than others I’ve had but a good balance of sweet and savory.
- fried pork dumplings: this is how we knew it was the real deal. Order these for sure.
Mains:
-Shrimp lo mein: shrimps were great and the whole dish was packed with flavor.
-mushu pork: it came with tortillas but we were eating it by the fork-full because it was so good.
- sweet and sour shrimp: came with sauce on the side! Love this because then the shrimp were crispy and hot when they arrived and you could sauce yourself.
- general tso bean curd: I got a little spicy and it was perfect mix of heat, savory, and sweet. The tofu has a good texture and taste.
Drinks:
- the hot tea is so good and Heidi is very quick with refills.
Dessert
- we also got the fried doughnuts and it was a huge portion for $5.99.
- Heidi also threw in some almond cookies for us and they were the perfect subtle sweet.
Had a bad encounter at first with the lady. She said at first how they don’t serve lunch then told us a place that does. She was sweet when I got to really speak to her and stuff
I had the pleasure of dinner here one night. Located in the Westport area of Kansas City on Broadway.
I have a thing for old fashioned authentic Chinese decor and lighting; this place hit the spot. It is so cozy and just dim enough for the perfect date spot and general ambiance. I had the crispy vegetarian spring rolls and chicken fried rice. Both were immaculate.
Server was very kind. I just love everything about this place.
Heidy is INCREDIBLE! Stop paying for delivery and come pick up from Heidy! The prices are almost half and food twice as good! Just know what you want to order when you call and she will take extra special care of you! My new favorite spot! It's a hidden gem!
Calm, quiet atmosphere. The people are polite and the cashier lady is down right adorable 🙂 Homey feel and the food is quiet authentic. Very delicious. But of course, if you get curious about anything you've never tried before, you've been warned.
Great Chinese restaurant that makes me feel like I'm in NYC. The food was good and if you are patient with the owners they will take good care of you. I appreciate the non-corporate feeling here, it's more authentic feeling than other places. I usually don't order shrimp, but in this case I'm glad I did! It was a great addition to the kung pow meal. They even gave our daughter a goody bag with Asian candy and cookies when we left! I plan on coming back next time I get a Chinese craving.
A true mom and pop restaurant.
Heidi is the fiesty yet funny owner who runs the show at this local gem. Prices are fair, food is tasty, and ambiance is vintage and fun. Peking is a must stop if you are in Midtown.
