Went in for a quick bite and it was great! The food was grest, but I do want to point out the rice was not fully cooked. Took a bite and some rice was still hard. Also want say it was a little cold in there, but all good. I always have a strawberry margarita when we go, but this time i tried the Sangeria Margarita and it was delicious. Great price for a small. Please don't change. Next time I'm getting a large. The place and food is great.
It was a very good experience, as usual. The couple with us were there for the first time and loved it too. Nice atmosphere, soft music not loud, friendly people, efficient servers and awesome food. Beautifully presented on the plate and very good tasting. Highly recommend it to anyone!!! My sister Jan Britt Theisman got me started going there and we know a lot of people from church that go there that love it too.
Probably the best Mexican food yet!! Me and my wife both had lunch enchilada plate and it was amazing!
This was our first time to celebrate our wedding Anniversary. Very impressed. Such a large varied menu to choose from, excellent food, excellent service. Great atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back!
One of my families favorite Tex Mex spots! Always great service and food, not to mention some of the best margaritas in town.
It's a nice place and very good food, beef fajitas with tortillas de atina is the best!!!
Our go to place for Mexican food. The food is excellent (Puntas Chimino is my favorite) and the frozen Margaritas are the best around (Strawberry or Mango). The service is for the most part very good and the manager, Jose, is great!
The food here has always been good and the place has always been clean and enjoyable.
As far as drinks go, their margaritas are different compared to other Mexican restaurants I have been to. I typically get a margarita on the rocks and their version doesn't really do it for me. That's not to say they are bad as some may like them.
Overall, a good spot for Mexican food.
Living in the Houston metropolitan area, we have more Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants than anyone could feasibly visit in a lifetime. They are all over the place and I have my own personal favorites. But I am also the type who likes to try new things and this natural curiosity is what led me to try Alicia’s Mexican Grill, located near the Katy Mills Mall.
Alicia’s is one of those places I see with regular frequency, but just never got around to trying and now that I have visited, I can say that this is a good place for Mexican food. The interior is a nice size, with a few separate dining areas and a central bar with seating of its own, both at the bar and surrounding the bar. They usually have the televisions in the bar tuned to sports and the noise level can get high, especially on a weekend evening when it gets crowded.
For my dinner, I ordered the beef enchiladas while my kids decided to order off of the appetizer menu, with one kid selecting nachos and the other choosing the chicken quesadillas. My enchiladas were filled with ground beef and were pretty good, even if a little less seasoned than I would have preferred. They would have been better with steak, but for ground beef, they were still good. The included beans were acceptable, but the rice was easily better than average- fresher than the side of rice often served at similar restaurants. I tried the chicken quesadillas and they were excellent. The nachos were fine, too, but the serving size was smaller than expected. One could easily make a meal out of the quesadillas, but not the nachos. And every paying customer is free to enjoy some self- service ice cream/ice milk after their meal.
With the service, we felt it took a little too long to get served our drinks, but the service and speed picked up quickly after that. We left feeling good, and judging by the size of the bill, I can say that Alicia’s Mexican Grill is a place we are likely to return, as the total cost was less than that of other Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants.
Houston is overrun with Mexican and Tex Mex food, but Alicia’s Mexican Grill is a place worthy of a visit. It has a lively atmosphere, nice menu selection, and good Mexican food offered at a fair price. It may not be the absolute greatest Mexican restaurant in the Houston area, but it has enough going for it to recommend a visit.
Second time here. I had a taco salad and it was just ok. They didn't drain the lettuce good so there was water at the bottom of my shell. Someone else had the beef fajitas. It was actually pretty good. Fajitas had flavor and were too tough. I would go back but I wouldn't get the taco salad. They were very busy. Parking was nuts and all over the place. Service was good. We got seated relatively fast and they kept our drinks and chip basket filled. The wait for food wasn't bad.
Kinda confused. So many negative reviews, I don't really understand it. Maybe I just got lucky with my waiter, but our service was fine. Drinks were refilled, empty plates taken, etc. Never had to ask for anything. All of the food was pretty typical for these types of restaurants. Nothing we had was bad, and some was above average for Tex-Mex. Chicken fajitas were good, though slightly dry. Excellent chips and salsa, though that's more of a personal preference thing. Very similar to somewhere like Ruthie's Mexicana. Maybe the other reviews are out of date and management has changed, but I had nothing negative at all to say about this place. I'd give it another chance if you have been turned off by these reviews. Alicia's is everything you'd expect from a Tex-Mex restaurant, and at about the prices you'd expect. $10-15 per person.
Always Delicious Food and Friendly Service. My husband and I ate this past Sunday (9/1) at Alicia's in Katy and had a very tasty meal. I ate the El Presidente plate and my husband ate the Gulf Snapper with garlic lemon butter sauce. We have been to this location at least six times and have always been very satisfied with the food and the service. This past weekend the servers kept our tea full and were attentive, but not hovering. I usually order beef or chicken and my husband orders fish. My beef fajita meat in the flour tortilla was tender and flavorful, no gristle. My mushroom enchilada had a creamy sauce and plenty of mushrooms. My husband's fish was in his words "just right." The guacamole salad we shared was fresh and beautifully presented. It had chunks of avocado (was NOT baby food texture) and did not have too much lemon or lime.
I appreciate that this location was constructed with a more quiet ceiling. I have eaten at the Cypress location a few times, but chose not to go back because of the noise. This Katy location is remarkably quiet and calm in comparison. I appreciate the attention to detail in having live plants as decorations. This translates into more work for the restaurant, but is more pleasant for diners than silk plants or other dust catchers.
While we are not price-sensitive and our dining budget allows for us to eat wherever we like, we felt Alicia's is very reasonably priced. We were surprised at the low rating and can't really understand why. After all the reviews have been read, it comes down to personal experience. Go and see what you think and then you will know for sure.
Great atmosphere. Good food. Really tasty beef fajitas
Pretty nice place. We had chicken enchiladas and they were pretty good for lunch.
The food was delicious, orders were correct, gave 4 stars on service as server did not refill drinks or ask if we wanted refills. The self serve icecream at end of meal is very tasty and refreshing. Salsa is awesome. Very tasty, not too hot, good flavor. Chips crunchy and warm.
Serene environment
Great customer service and the food is well made and tasty
I loved every moment here
Was so in the moment I forgot to take pictures
I liked their beef tacos and rice. I tried them 3 times, but I never get a stomach hurt or heartburn at all. The meat is fresh and so delicious. It becomes one of my favorite restaurants for lunch and dinner.
This location is always busy, but the customer service stays steady and attentive. The food is always good and the Verde salsa is delicious! I usually order chicken quesadillas or enchiladas Verdes, but it seems that it is all good regardless of what you order
Really good service weekend afternoons are really busy I recommend to make a reservation.
The chicken nachos weren’t amazing as I expected but the guacamole is fresh and tasty.
The ground beef nachos (the small portion is good for lunch if you aren’t really hungry).
The have free Ice cream cones (people love them but I couldn’t tried it because I was too full)
Delicious food! Great service! The atmosphere is just awesome! Definitely will be coming here again!
food was good. tea was delicious. chicken was salty but super moist. key lime pie was a good choice.bathrooms clean. visited for Houston restaurant week. service was a tad bit slow, but we were also on a schedule.
This was my first time here. The food was good. The staff was nice. The service was ok.
This is the second location of Alicia's we've enjoyed. My wife had and shared (it's almost mandatory) some of the best chicken fajitas we've ever had, she got borracho beans with it, guacamole, rice, pico de gallo, I enjoyed three ground beef enchiladas with refried beans and rice. The chips and salsa were tasty and the service provided by Jaider was spot on. They have a few hambones working here, I like to take pictures and a few future stars had to jump into the shot, I like that.
Before, I was a regular customer of Alicias in Richmond and Kirkwood, but now that I met Javier, the manager, who moved him to this Alicias location in Katy, it is my new favorite restaurant, the one who cares that you are treated excellently and keeps everything low control, this man is a genius, how to manage the place, the attention, the food and the place, he is perfect..
Food was delicious and the customer service is amazing! 10/10 experience and will be back!
A little pricey, but always a decent meal.
I’m not a huge fan of the salsa, but entrees are good.
Love Alicia's and hated to see the one but our house close. Stopped by the Katy location for drinks n dinner.
I once found an amazing Serrano sauce at a place that is no longer in business. Alicia's has the closest to that sauce I've found in this area. Order a side of the green Serrano sauce with your fajitas. It's delicious.
