We made a quick stop here on our way home to Friendswood. Everyone there welcomed us as home. Chef Casey, May God Bless Him, Amazing soul I have ever met. Ms. Evelyn, our server, suggested to get the oxtail and I so happy that I made that choice. I not only ate most of it also saved some for dinner. My husband had the breakfast and he loved it. This place is 2hours drive worthy. To top it off, we were treated with house made dessert! Just want to repeat like chef Casey said, I am home’! Thank you for everything.
It was quite a surprise to learn it was Houston Restaurant Weeks when we got there. We made a reservation but was able to be seated immediately. The owner made table rounds, our server never let our glasses go empty, and the DJ had us wiggling in our seats. The food? Hands down delicious! Fresh, well marinated, and to perfection. I recommend this place to everyone who wants a great dining experience created with love.
The food is awesome every time I eat here. The empanadas are delicious and filled with meat. The Friday Monster pork chop special was very good. Chops were very tender. Chef Casey is always gracious and hospitable. However, the service on my recent visit was a bit spotty. The place was not even full. I had to ask twice for our two ice teas. Did not get them unless we were almost done with appetizers. It is ice tea. There is nothing to make. Just pour it into two glasses and bring it to the table! The waitress was very nice but was either overwhelmed or just having a bad day. Overall, it is not a big deal but since I do tip over 20% or more I do expect a certain level of service. I will certainly be back to try the many other delicious things on the menu. Keep up the excellent work Chef Casey!
This restaurant is worth a visit!!!
Upon entering the front door and being greeted by the owner with a genuine "Welcome Home" I knew I was gonna Love this place! Chef Casey Castro is not only a culinary Super Talent he is the consummate host. His wait staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. We ordered an assortment of appetizers and all of them were Yummy! By the time I got my plate, overflowing with oxtails, I was feeling satiated but still ate over half of my plate cause it was GOOD!! OH MY GOSH YUMMY!! Our table was then graced, by Chef, with a 7 Leches Cake! You heard me 7 Leches (his creation)!! I look forward to returning "Home" soon!!
This place is an experience. Went for brunch on Sunday. I did not expect it to be so amazing, intimate and relaxing atmosphere. We went there because I saw they had a few vegan options. My family loves mimosas. The inside is so elegant and nice music. Outside they had a DJ playing good music. It wasnt too loud and as the servers kept coming in and out it didnt bother us. The chef came to greet us and I believe the owner as well. Service was amazing. The menu had so many options for my family to decide. We came with a toddler and even their chicken strips looked gourmet. I got the vegan breakfast and it was delicious and I feel like it just needs some kind of salsa but thats just me. I would def get it again. The bloody mary were delicious. I got easy on the spice. My family definitely wants to cole back for a special occasion for dinner. Artwork and the bar were really good to look at. I could tell everyone works together as a team. Fast service.
The food was phenomenal. Great customer service. The chef even came out and greeted us to make sure the food was up to standard. The patio was a great vibe. DJ was wonderful and overall great experience. I will most definitely come back and recommend to my friend.
Loved this place. Loved that the owner and chef came and talked to everyone, ensuring it was a good experience. In general - the food was spectacular, but the Oyster Rockefeller was very underwhelming in size, especially for the cost. But, I will be back and try something else. I had the special for Restaurant Week - spicy chicken empanada, and Argentinian Churrasco. friend had the oxtails. Everything was wonderful, and I got 2 empanadas to go!
After following them for a couple years finally got time to go. I am a simple food eater. The staff is wonderful and professional! But I find the chairs uncomfortable and tables too close. I could hear neighbors conversation all around.
The food for me and my family was not to our liking.
Oxtail and rice, rice had a smell ( not sure what kind of rice). Oxtail is tender, I just did not like the flavor.
Plantain burger was a mess! My daughter only ate the meat and left everything else. Fries had a lot of seasoning or something on it. Lobster soup was ok just weird texture.
Nice place for a foodie whom ok with complex food.
It was just not for us.
Amazing, unique food and just a great person in Chef Casey. We had the tomahawk steak and it was so juicy, so tender. Highly recommend the garlic green beens and the peppermint crisp for dessert. Chef Casey made it a point to come visit all his guests regularly throughout, which you just don’t see anymore. This place is a hidden gem you must protect at all costs.
Stumbled onto this gem while looking for brunch spots to try. Hospitality and cuisine were superb. The oxtail was as good as it sounds. Will come back to eat others items from the menu.
Great brunch option especially in good weather. The patio was spacious and comfortable. We were mesmerized by the mystery mimosas. The staff are super friendly and prompt. The chef is great and the food is delicious. There are so many options we'll definitely be back again to try something new.
Love, Love, Love the ambience of this restaurant. Great decor and love the diversity! Axl rocked the bar and great drink specials! I had the lobster 🦞 bisque soup, very rich and tasty 🤤! Will be coming back!!!
I was definitely thrilled to have the uniquely delicious meals at this restaurant. The baked empanadas were a great way to get things started, and we absolutely enjoyed the Gugulethu beef espetada and African lamb curry entrees. They have specials for each day so you’re likely to get excited for a different reason on each visit. Shout out to Perry for taking such good care of us and to Chef Casey who personally stopped by all the tables to say hi. I’m already looking forward to the next time.
From start to finish, it was such a great experience. Customer service was great and the food was absolutely delicious!
Best grits I’ve ever had lol
As a fellow Chef, I have a lot of respect for Chef Casey running around table to table getting feedback and taking care of all his patrons. He was multitasking and kept a smile on his face the whole time.
I will definitely be coming back!
My husband and I have dined here a handful of times and we love it. We've mainly dined for breakfast but their African cuisine is amazing!
Absolutely fantastic food, service, atmosphere, and wine. From a humble, but spectacular empanada, to 6 leches cake (yes six!), to perfectly cooked steaks, this place is incredible. Service was impeccable and the chef kept coming to check on us and was so amazingly friendly and humble. Truly am excellent experience through and through. I will definitely be back!
