One of my family’s go- to places for Chinese carryout, Hunan Garden in Katy is a place we can count on for consistently good Chinese food. It’s primarily a take- out restaurant with a full menu of Chinese food options to satisfy the individual cravings of each family member.

Hunan Garden is a small restaurant and the interior is rather drab, to put it nicely. There are booths and tables and really nothing to look at and not much to do. But as I said, this is mainly a take- out establishment so interior appeal isn’t that important.

With the food, I have liked most everything purchased at Hunan Garden. The General Tsos Chicken is good, the Orange Chicken is tasty, and I like most all of the beef dishes. I didn’t find the sweet and sour chicken as good as others I have tried because it seemed a little too sweet and not enough sour. But it wasn’t bad and is still worthy of a try if sweet and sour is your Chinese thing.

Hunan Garden Katy sells individualized servings so that each family member can order what he/she likes for at home consumption. We find that we rarely eat everything because the food is quite filling. That’s perfectly fine, because it microwaves very well and tastes almost as fresh the next day.

We’re Chinese food freaks in my house and Hunan Garden in Katy remains our go- to restaurant for carryout. We have tried a few others in the area, but we continue to return to Hunan Garden. The consistency and overall taste and satisfaction are enough to rank it at the head of the Chinese take- out class in this area of Katy, Texas.

I ordered the Chicken Broccoli lunch menu. It came with an egg roll and hot and sour soup. Overall the food was great. It was not overly salty and the food was fresh. The serving size was large. This is a great place to pick up a meal during a quick rush.

After being introduced by a friend, I brought my family to this restaurant for dinner on Monday. The chicken fried noodles and General Tso's chicken pot are full of flavor, the fried rice with prawns is fragrant, and the white rice is very delicious. The waiter's attitude is excellent. I asked out of curiosity to find out that the chef in the restaurant has changed. Not only is he young, he is also very good. Thanks to his skills and efforts, I recommend going to this restaurant to enjoy delicious food.

Although it was getting late in the dinner hour, It appears this is a newly opened restaurant because when we arrived the parking in front of the restaurant was empty and upon entering other than staff we were the only ones there. They did have some take out orders while we were there. The atmosphere is quite basic and Spartan, however I am more concerned with getting a good meal than sitting in a highly decorated, cozy environment with terrible food. We were seated promptly, given menus and ample time to make selections. Our drinks came out immediately and Throughout the meal our glasses never got much below half full before the waiter was asking if we'd like a refill. After a reasonable wait for food preparation our order were brought to the table. The dishes were attractive, hot & freshly prepared. We started with moo-shu pork, which was very traditional flavor and quite good. The pancakes needed to be made a little tougher as these tended to tear easily, but they got us through the meal. The Sichuan Chicken was excellent with a good selection of vegetables and not the usual celery filler you find in most restaurants now. The portions were adequate, we actually had leftovers to take home. I can judge most restaurant now by one meal, meaning I wouldn't go back, but our one meal experience with Grand Wok was a very good experience and we will definitely return soon.

This was the first time I ordered food from this restaurant and it will not be the last. The food was excellent. It was piping hot, fresh, perfectly seasoned and delicious. The delivery driver was very friendly and arrived much quicker than indicated when the order was placed. This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant

For $13.00 this sweet and sour chicken is very very good definitely coming back and the egg rolls are awesome. Definitely a must try!!!

This is now Hunan Garden. Food is phenomenal! Everything is homemade down to the hot mustard and chili oil. Best restaurant in Katy hidden gem.

We order Hunan Garden about 2 times a month and have it delivered. Everything we have ever ordered has been delicious and always so fresh and hot. We will only order Chinese food from Hunan Garden.
