This place has a special place in my heart and stomach from going here all these years as a kid and coming back home to have it again was simply incredible. I have been out of state for 9 years now and Argyle's is still the best fish and chips that I have had in the US. Their menu has tons of options and they keep it up well. I hope to visit them again before I head back to my new home outta state.

If you're going to order fish and chips be sure to specify that you want Cod otherwise you will get some other kind of fish and it won't be anywhere near as good. That said I've been going to the argyle for probably 50 years and of all the places that you can go and get fish and chips this is certainly the best. If you order the seafood Trio you automatically get caught and 2 scallops and 2 butterfly shrimp. Their scallops are the freshest I've ever tasted and we've gone there on various days of the week to see if it was consistent and it is. They have a tendency to over cook the shrimp so I usually don't go for the trio I'll either get the card or the scallops and I order them broiled instead of the traditional batter and deep-fry. Just a personal preference there great either way. I worry about this Restaurant closing because there's not so many Scots and Irish in the demographic as there used to be, so the restaurant is typically pretty empty. In any case if your travels bring you to Kearny New Jersey this is a gym that you shouldn't pass up.
