If you are looking for a place that has charm, history and character (built in 1799) then this is the place to stay. Our room & bathroom was clean & closet was roomy. It was perfect for our get away weekend to celebrate our 10 yr anniversary. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also had lunch and dinner at Acadame and oh my goodness...the food was amazing. We had the traditional lobster roll, the white lobster pizza, filet mignon, s'mores dessert, a drink called "sage against the machine" to name a few... Definitely will be going back!

We have been dining here for over 10 years and never had a bad meal; from their specialty lobster dishes to any pasta or sandwich everything is fantastic and unique. In the summer seating is offered on their patio and in winter we cozy up to their lounge area. Wait staff and bartenders are pleasant and knowledgeable. If you pass on their signature cocktails (which you shouldn't!) order a bottle or two of wine, the selection is well thought out and the price surprisingly affordable.
Friendly staff and lovely accommodations. BUT, the highlight is the food prepared by Brian and Shanna. I can’t say enough about the food! It’s delicious. Every. Single. Bite. From start to finish (cocktails to dessert) everything is prepared with expertise. Just do yourself a favor and get something with lobster!
I loved the place..very friendly, quaint surroundings felt history of the Inn and loved the food and friendly waiter the hostess and others. The front porch was great very relaxing.
I loved the atmosphere of time gone by, our room was large enough for a king size bed and our yellow Labrador Retriever. We had a great dinner Friday evening, there were pockets where you can veg out in private or join others in a nice lounge, very relaxing atmosphere. I am a very early, coffee first thing in the morning type person and coffee was available at 7 am, I was impressed! Service was always great, 5 ☆!

Our family's favorite! We have
amazing meals and service every single time!
Been a few times, never disappointed. On the mark everytime. Look forward to our next dining experience at the Tavern !
Note that the famed lobster pot pie is no longer on the menu following a change of management. Pity it is still so prominently featured in photos with few more recent photos posted by the new owners. Five star review so as not to downgrade what is on the menu as we didn’t end up eating here.
Food was great. Betty Ann was an A+ server and seriously went above and beyond. (Ran out TWICE first when we forgot a jacket and again when we forgot our to-go bag)! Complementary wine tasting made the night.
We ate dinner at Academe on a recent Friday nite during a weekend escape and it was fantastic. Great ambiance. The room was wonderful. The staff was better. And the food. My filet was perfectly cooked and as good a meal as I've had in a while. I definitely felt some FOMO as it seemed like every other person in the room ordered the lobster pot pie. We will have to come back to try it. Recommended.
The refinished bar and dining room look amazing; bright and chic. The menu has been changed up a bit, now more mouthwatering decisions to make. Everything was delicious and our server and bartender were were a lot of fun. Already planning to go back!
Brian and Shanna are amazing chefs. Everything they cook is like a hug in your mouth. They catered our wedding 16 years ago, and just the other day, one of our friends said ... I just remember how good the food was at your reception. Be sure to order your burger LoB, a little of both fries and rings. Yum!
Wonderful! We stayed at the Inn while visiting Maine and dined here mainly for convenience. What a wonderful surprise. The service was excellent, and every dish we tried was wonderfully prepared and delicious!! That you!
We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Inn. Great food, great cocktails, great staff, great room and a very comfy bed! We'll definitely be returning.
My Go-To restaurant in downtown Kennebunk. We lived in Kennebunk for 15 years. When we moved away in 2014, Academe's food was one of the things I missed most. As a lobster lover, I like to start with the Lobster White Pizza, followed by the Lobster Lo Mein. (Hope I spelled that right!) Then, we'll cap things off with Academe's Lobster Pot Pie. If it seems like a lot of food, it's because my husband and I share.
We had a Maine trip planned in 2020, but that did not work out. We're back in 2021 and if there's a lobster shortage, blame me. They've got a tasty lobster roll as well. You get your choice of mayo or drawn butter. (Pro tip: Get butter.) Very excited that my favorite Kennebunk restaurant is back, shiny and all remodeled.
Some of the best food I have ever had. The chefs have won numerous awards and the staff provides amazing service. Get the pot pie, "lo Maine" or the lobster pizza
