Been going here on and off for years. They closed AYCE during Covid (understandably), so I just recently visited for the first time in a while. Good sushi, every time, hands down. The chefs are personable, quick, and more than happy to make adjustments as needed (different fish for texture, other sauce, etc). Extremely flexible, accomodating, and charming. Highly recommend, even for those new to the sushi experience - there's diversity on the menu without being overwhelming.
I have noticed two things regarding my dislike for Trappers as a whole: extremely poor service when dining alone, and unusually pushy management regarding staff expectations. Dining solo at a regular table means little to no service (bussed my table when I went to the restroom!) unless you sit at the bar. The establishment also runs donation fundraisers every so often, and the waiters ask you if you want to participate. However, at this particular location, I discovered that if you declined, staff were scrutinized and actually punished if they didn't meet what management felt was 'enough' regarding sales per waiter per shift! Yikes.
Overall, stop by. They have rotating Drinks Of The Month and Rolls Of The Month, so that's fun. Just sit at the bar, skip the tables, and try something new.

Our experience at Trappers sushi was amazing! The staff is so friendly, service was great and our chef Mike was phenomenal!!! If you get a chance to, always ask what the staff recommends-- they will NOT lead you astray! There was no wait when we got there, everything is super clean, everyone is taking the mask mandates super seriously. Overall it was an amazing dining experience for all 6 of us. If you get the opportunity to come try this restaurant out, do so -it's so worth it!!

They made room for a 5 person party at the bar for all-you-can-eat within a few minutes, very polite and sweet staff, our chef was attentive and funny, he was down to prep our next order while we were still eating. I've been to a lot of sushi places for all-you-can-eat and the chef likes to busy themselves between or avoid eye contact or turn away so they're hard to flag down (so you can sit and digest and get full so you don't order so much) but this chef was excellent, I'll update with his name in the future cause im definitely doing back. Food was delicious and fresh, and plated beautifully!

Great sushi! The staff at the sushi bar were fast and friendly. Good variety. The salmon Nigiri was amazing, very fresh. For AYCE sushi, you definitely get your money's worth. The only negative was the hostess at the beginning. She didn't ask us if we wanted the AYCE when we came in, just sat us at a table. When we asked our server about the AYCE, she told us it was only at the bar and got us a spot right away. The place does look a little run down, but the sushi is still great quality.

This place has pretty great sushi. We ordered the sushi roll of the month. It was perfection as was all the other food and the drinks. The restaurant was very clean, the staff was kind, helpful and attentive. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant so you don't have to search for parking around kent station.

I ordered the Sashimi plate which comes with 12 pieces of sashimi, salad and soup. I also ordered Unagi sushi. Was told 20-25min but it took almost an hour!
I checked when I got out to my car and the salad and soup were missing.
Went back and talked to Victor. As I showed him the unagi loose and rolling around in a large clam shell, he said it’s nigiri what to you expect? I agreed with him and he said why are you being rude. At this point I just wanted to get out of there!
Super disappointed when I got to my hotel room to find only 9 pieces of sashimi.
The sashimi was on the bottom and tasted like the seaweed salad/sesame oil.
The manager was gone when I called back at 7:50.
I asked why there wasn’t any eel sauce on the Unagi. The person I talk to you said they don’t have el sauce and the closest they have is teriyaki. That was a funny statement because I can see it on pictures of their rolls and other items!

our son moved to kent, WA. we were looking for a ayce sushi and this place came up. so we made reservations and when we got there we checked in and got seated almost right away. when we got to our table..we found out ayce was only at the sushi bar. so at our table we waited. our server proceeded to hand us off to the ayce server. I would have ordered atleast a round of drinks..but the table server to me felt like..oh it's not my table anymore I don't have to tend to them. we waited maybe another 10 mins to get seats at the sushi bar. the chefs were attentive and our server was also..they just have to work on their transition if that happens again. just serverwise..she missed out on a $10 tip..if that happens once every weekend that's $500 a year she missing out on tip. but company loses more $ on sales.

Pretty disappointed in their takeout abilities with Uber eats. We just ordered rolls for 5 people....the containers they use are way too big for the rolls they make....which means there is a mess in the container when you open it. Vegetarian rolls marched with rolls that contain fish.... No roll descriptions on any of the containers which means if people have similar looking rolls, you have to poke at the rolls to figure out which roll goes to the right person. There is only ginger and wasabi in one container. . Not enough to split between people. ... Just a bad way to put things together. If you go In things are fine. But don't do take out unless you are able to stand there and examine food before you leave.

I love the sushi here but the service I received or lack thereof was the worst I have ever had. To sit in the bar and watch other customers that have arrived after you be greeted and asked what they would like, offered water and followed up with during their meal to ensure it was satisfactory and not a peep or even eye contact really my way is awful. It took 40 minutes to get my food which was 3 trapper rolls and that's it. No ETA given or offer to check my food or acknowledgement at all until I made a comment to him to please check. One thing I don't like is bad service, no matter how good the food is. Word of mouth marketing is key as well and you can lose business with bad service. Please train up your staff!

We have a family of 5, so getting out as a couple is rare! When we do go we specifically find the best place to go and sometimes we are let down and sometimes we aren't. These trips are special for us because of our time! We had the best server and I am upset I didn't remember her name. Tonight she had 2 braids and was amazing! Thank you for a great date night! Food was awesome too!

Great food terrible service walked out after 20 minute wait turned into an hour and 15 minutes. Would only do again on Uber Eats (no wait).

Today has been a rough day for me. I walked in here wanting some comfort food, and the management and staff were amazing. They provided excellent customer service for me on a day I needed something like that. Grateful for this place, and the excellent people here!

Been a customer for years but the last few months we come in the restaurant and bar are 1/2 empty and yet it's 20-30 mins to wait. Not taking care of customers is one way to get bad publicity.
