Very nice casual restaurant! About half of the seating is located around the bar with the other half of the seating in a quieter atmosphere.
We went on a Saturday night and they were very busy. Waited about there thirty minutes... which is typical.
Once we were seated service was very friendly and prompt.
The food was very good. And they have a kids menu. My son ordered the cheeseburger and he was pleasantly surprised that it was a full size burger.
We had the pasta and some tacos.
For an appetizer we had the brisket nachos... that could have been a meal by itself.
Prices are above average, but the food justified the little extra cost.

My family really enjoyed this place last night. Appetizers and food were excellent. My wife and I got the scallops, and kids got pizza and wings. Server was very friendly. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star, is that the service was slow. However they WERE very busy, and possibly understaffed (seems to be the norm these days). We would definitely go back.

Went for my birthday dinner and we had a party of five and received great service! As soon as there was a dirty dish our server cleared it which it is nice to not have a stack of dirty dishes at your table. Everyone enjoyed their food! I got the Beef Brisket

Wonderful dining experience! The interior is very nice, upscale and comfortable. Service was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the smoked wagyu, meatloaf sandwich and it was delicious. Outstanding cocktail menu and decent beer menu that should make most beer drinkers happy. The night we went they had live entertainment and it was great was well. If you need a break from the typical Kent college dining experience and want something more upscale then I cannot recommend the Bistro enough!

Well first off, this place has the most beautiful ladies' restroom I've ever been in LOL. I had a really nice time. They had a sign up front saying that they were short-staffed and to be patient but to be honest, they had better service than most of the places that say they are short staffed. I didn't get any food that night but I could tell the wait staff was really great and the food looked delicious. There was wonderful entertainment there, as well, which is hard to find right now. I will be back over and over again!

This place is fantastic. Always excellent service, great atmosphere, and real, creative food. Every time we’ve been here, nothing disappoints. Drinks are strong and everything is so fresh and delicious! We’ve gotten their spicy pepperoni pizza which is drizzled with a spicy honey, and it’s quickly become a favorite.
Saturday nights have had live entertainment the last couple visits. The last time we were there the entertainment was awesome. A crooner doing Sinatra style tunes in the bar area.
Easily one of our favorite places in town!

Service was okay. The food good but the price is a bit more then I think it is worth. The cocktails would be the reason to go. I got the adult cherry coke is was epic. But the spiked cherries themselves with get you tippin'.

Incredibly nice staff and great food. Had the cheese plate and Caesar salad with blackened chicken. Would love to come back.

Long wait , poor service, cold food. We took my mom here for a nice bday dinner, only to be disappointed from the moment we sat down. There was a total of 5 tables with customers and we waited for almost 20 minutes for our server to bring is water. We were there another 45 minutes before we received our food, which was cold by the time we got it. My husband loved the wine soaked pears, however, we requested an order of fruit for our 14 month old son and he was brought the wine soaked pears with strawberries and blueberries. I am so thankful my husband decided to try one before we gave them to him! We will not be back to the bistro. Very disappointed in our entire experience from beginning to end!

Good pub food. Had dinner about 7 pm The place was dark, almost too dark, cold, and almost empty. Weeknights are often when you really get a fair sample of what the cooking is all about. Started with a chicken with black bean soup. Not many beans in there at all, and while the soup was hot, the taste needed salt to bring up the flavors.. She tried the BOM Hamburger with Rosemary & Garlic fries . I had the chicken on ciabatta, also with the same fries. The burger was done medium rare and good, the chicken breast was too much, I ate half and saved the rest for tomorrow. The fries, well, there was a lot of them, and they were hot, but frankly, the Rosemary did not help. I could say without reservation that the place is OK, probably a favorite with the local folks, and in that regard, I would say, enjoy the meal, but don't expect a meal that is truly remarkable. Oh, last thought, a bit too pricey for what we had.

Overpriced. They have a sign that say's Best fish fry in Kent. So I tried it. Nice atmosphere, great waitress, great chicken and corn chowder. Fish fry was 2 pieces of cod with fries and cole slaw. Fish was ok, a little greasy as if the fryer was not hot enough, but for the fish fry it was $21.00 which was high. Fries came in a stainless steel bowl which looked nice but didn't make the 2 pieces of fish worth $21. Cole slaw was nothing special. Nice wine selection.

Solid atmosphere, food is decent and great drinks. Just need to pave the parking lot.

So Disappointed. Went to Bistro on Main on Saturday to celebrate a graduation. It took a full hour after ordering before receiving our food. There were significant problems with 4 of the 8 orders. Two arrived barely warm, one had a cold side dish, and one person's pizza had been sitting under the warmer for so long that the server brought two pizzas out at the same time - the original, warmed one and another that had come out of the oven more recently.

The menu is interesting and the food that arrived hot was tasty. The manager did take some steps to "make it right", but since a grad school graduation is a once in a lifetime event it felt like too little, too late.

Maybe once more. Can't decide. Snobby hostess turned us off, but waitperson was fine.
Never have had to pay for more bread anywhere I can remember. You order two bottles of wine, appetizers, dinner, coffee, but you have to pay for three more pieces of white bread???? May try it again due to location, but definitey not impressed the first go 'round.

What's up with the Garlic?. Just had lunch here today. This once bustling spot was incredibly quiet for 12:15, not sure the reason but the ladies at the next table were not happy with their soup. Bland and not up to par was the sentiment. My salad which was today's special was nice and I ordered the rosemary/truffle fries on the side. What about rosemary and truffle fries makes one think that they are served with 6, yes six cloves of roasted garlic, I am allergic and avoid garlic and at all costs, but even if I weren't, wouldn't you think six cloves of garlic deserve a mention to the customer? Completed distorted the taste of the fries, all you could taste was garlic. Not going back soon.

Great spot. Found on visit to Kent State with my wife and two boys after ice hockey.. Very nice atmosphere, dim / romantic / comfortable, very upscale, clean. Bathrooms A+. Started w/ fried pickles and crab cakes, excellent. Homemade bread and salads awesome. Homemade dressings, good portions. Scallops and salmon excellent. This is a good spot, exceptional and upscale food and menu. Very comfortable with my kids, nothing to be picky about - just an all around good spot. I WILL be back.

I had always wanted to try Bistro on Main, it always looks packed when I drove by, but after eating there I'm not sure why that is true. Valentine's Day dinner was suppose to be "special" but we got seated in the cold bar area next to the back door, which was not much to admire scenery wise. Although that didn't really matter, considering they played club music all throughout our meal, a cold draft was the least of our worries. Very small menu, over spiced and high sodium. The spinach pasta leaves much to be desired. My girlfriend's was too salty, not edible, but they were happy to take that off the bill. I doubt I'll be back, which is a shame because it's so close to home:/

Pitiful... just Pitiful.... Wife and I had dinner there last Thursday. We had been comming there for years. The grilled cheese I had was good but the fries were not edible. My wife likes hot, spicy food but even she couldn't eat them. Her clams & Scallops were VERY gritty (inside & out) although the sauce, though very gritty, was excellent. Her Spinach apparently had been boiled in oil and was not edible. The drinks wewre good and the service was excellent, as always. They gave us a $20 gift card but we definitly will NOT be back. There are many other good places to eat in the Stow Kent area.

I went to the Bistro for the Adam Hamilton BBQ Tri fundraiser it was amazing! The smoked meats just fell right off the bone, wonderful innovative sides to pick from as well. Great cuisine and mad chef skills coming out of that kitchen.

I went to bistro on a Monday for their guaranteed best burger in portage county night. It was a slow night so the service was good but we couldn't even get burger option, temp, cheese, something, anything. Needless to say the burger was not good. I asked my server about the guarantee and she laughed at me. I guess I'm not going back.

Next time I will read the review BEFORE I go. Yep don't be fooled by the radio commercials. Overpriced, boring. The food was ungodly spicey making it basically inedible. One basket of bread and charge for a second basket "come on". Slow service. My husband sat down and said it felt like a scene from Hell's Kitchen which was what the previous posting noted as well. Of course I go wanting to like it---- but sadly most often I am disappointed at the menu and the food they serve.

Not so great.... We had a family birthday dinner on Valentine's weekend. They had a special menu for the weekend that left little to choose from for those who don't like seafood. I like seafood so I was excited by the options. That was the highlight of the meal, the possibilities of a fabulous meal. The crabcake appetizer was "interesting" but good. It took well over an hour to get our meals after ordering. One of our group ordered soup that never got delivered. At one point, I looked around the room and not a single patron of the 25 or so customers had food on their tables. It was like a scene from Hell's Kitchen. Our waitress was rarely seen in the room to ask for refills of our beverages or to ask about the wait time for our food. When the food did arrive, we all commented that our meals were almost too spicy, and I like spicy food. The food overall was average at best and over-priced. I don't know if this was just an off night for them but we won't be returning. They didn't do anything for us to make us want to return. (The restrooms were also a mess. I went in after the bartender came out to find paper towels on the floor. There was no hot water to wash hands which makes me wonder if they just turned it off in the restrooms or if this was a problem in the building...washing dishes in cold water????)

Very slow service, cold food and weak seasoning were the three strikes out that made this am overly rated disaster. Never will return and cannot understand the positive reviews that tempted me to try this dump.

One of my favorite places, great martinis. Never had a bad meal there. Service is often super slow, depending on which server you get.

Service was very good: attentive and efficient. Great salads and seafood. This was my first time there and I will definitely go again.

Another Hidden Treasure.... This is a hidden treasure in Kent...the Chef grew-up locally but spent time in San Francisco and other big cities in the US perfecting his culinary and management skills. Due to the cost of opening up a high-end restaurant in San Fran, he came home w/ his wife and opened up Bistro on Main in Kent.
This is another place with immaculate attention to detail...everything in the restaraunt is super trendy and well thought out, no dirty corners or spot left undusted. This same attention to detail carries through on the plate, fantastic dishes, great, great, tastes. Wonderful deserts...handcrafted chocolate sculptures on some deserts. Amazing place that not too many know about!
Check this place out, again, you will NOT be dissapointed!

4.5 out of 5.0

We’ve always had good service here, and this lunch was no exception. We like the atmosphere in the cozy bar as well. Although the meal wasn’t perfect, we like Bistro on Main and will go back.

Ever since I ate the pan seared scallop server over a roasted corn and avocado orzo at this year's Taste of Akron , I have been looking forward to trying a meal at Kent's very own Bistro on Main . Having gotten off work a little early today, I managed to
