The size of the steaks and prime rib that they serve are the biggest I've ever had and cooked exactly how you want it.The prices are really reasonable considering the portions that you get.I eat there quite often and take home leftovers that last a couple days.

Went there the first time in 2020. Food was amazing! The steaks were well seasoned and juicy, the German platter was plentiful and delicious. Went again in 2021 and same experience. Went today 1/22/22 and big difference. They were "out" of staple dishes, including Rouladen. Steak was ordered medium but half was rare and half was well. German platter was cold in the middle (clearly microwaved), the chocolate cake was dry and dense, lemon blueberry cake was still frozen. I am sure a lot has to do with limited staff but for a $150 bill, we were disappointed. I am willing to try again, but not anytime soon.

Beware!! We couldn’t cut through our prime rib! It was chewy and had no flavor. Waitress made an excuse that it was because we ordered it medium rare. We were very disappointed and sad. We were really excited to go. It used to be a great place. Big waste of money and time. Worst prime rib I’ve ever eaten.

My husband suggested this restaurant to my son & I. This was my 1st time here. Our waitress was excellent! She's definitely a people person. She spaced herself quite well checking on us. I ordered the grilled chicken dinner. Cooked to perfection. My husband & son ordered the prime rib dinner. Goodness! I have never seen prime rib that big before! Seriously! They are very large!. I have no doubt we shall be returning again sometime. The social distancing was also regarded of course. It was just a pleasant night out on the town.

Food was good and authentic to German recipes. Server, Linda, was very attentive and made our dining experience enjoyable. I hope that business will continue to improve and they will be able to extend their operating hours as it is hard for us to dine at the establishment without having a day off. Reminder, CASH ONLY.

The food was okay though my steak was more rare than medium (I had ordered medium rare). The restaurant itself feels very outdated and cramped and it smelled like a retirement home. Our waitress was really nice, though.

I hadn't been here in probably 16 years, and I've been fantasizing about the Hungarian goulasch for about that long. I will never set foot here again. The softest, most tender memories were crushed when my plate was full of what was the toughest, chewiest, dryest meat I've put in my mouth since I ruined a steak not long ago. When I told our waitress, (who was fantastic!) she looked a bit surprised, but went to tell someone. When that woman came out, seemingly quite mad at me for having an issue with the beef chunks. She said no one had complained and I was the 1st. She also said something about it stewing for a week... which made me realize why the meat tasted as it did... I also found out that Henry sold the place many years ago, such great memories, I'll be keeping those close to my heart, because those will be what makes me happy. On the plus side, the spatzle was terrific, so was our waitress and the lady who seated us. My wife had the schnitzel, which was good, came with side salad and we got the white french dressing. Iceberg lettuce was mostly white and bitter, but the white french was so good it didn't matter. Overall it wasn't terrible, but that woman and what she said, totally ruined the experience for me.

The place smells like rotten wood. There were bugs on the wall. The food was very bad. I ordered goulash and I got this tough, rubber-like meat stew. I don't recommend this place.

Strange place. Pretty run down 70 decor. Smells like a rotten basement.
Food was good, not authentic but ok.
Great gernan beer on the drought.
Friendly and attentive waiters.

Kleines Schnitzel. Petite Schnitzel with Spatzle, on the side I ordered some red cabbage and applesauce (to eat with my spatzle). Henry Wahner's German food is pretty good and it is authentic, however, it's very specific "Schaebisch" (a region around Stuttgart) and it is obvious that it's a few generations old. So, I would call it old-fashion Schwaebisch food. I think that is where some of the complaints are coming from too, "Wiener Schnitzel" for example is Veal, it is not German but Austrian. And it also is served with Lemon, not an Egg. Schnitzel with an Egg is Schnitzel Holstein, and is from the Northern Region of Germany.... German Dumplings would be Bavarian, in "Schwabia" they serve Spaetzle instead.
As for an empty parking lot, when does that happen? We live in Kent and any time we have ever gone there the place is full.

Great food - excellent service!. My husband & I decided to take a group of friends to try the "well known" steak house on Saturday. To say the least we were not disappointed! From The Prime Rib to the Porterhouse to my favorite the Seafood Platter were excellent & well worth the $. Our waitress Lisa, was not only friendly but extremely helpful in helping us to decide which steak(s) everyone would prefer - Lisa was by far the best waitress I've had in a long time & we eat out at least 2's a week! Love this place - we will go back - soon!

Ggvb. It's a front, the food doesn't matter, and they don't want credits cards, they want want cash

Beware!!! This place is....Disgusting!!!!. They obvioiusly are used to getting away with selling thick slices of old beef for premium prices. The $34 "Porterhouse" was tough as shoe leather. Now we know why the parking lot is a wreck, the place is usually empty, and the whole thing is falling down around itself. Neither the sign out front nor the menues have been replaced in probably 30 years. Tacky interior takes "hole in the wall" to new lows. The place smells like a musty basement. For these prices go to Morton's or Hyde Park and spare yourself the grief.. This place gets ZERO stars. To give it even one star would denigrate the rating system. But this page requires you to give them at least one star to submit your review.

Needs a new owner. This place is supposedly a legend around here, I had never been there even though I have lived in the area all my life. We were looking forward to great German food which my wife loves and a great Prime Rib.
The drinks are good the bartender is generous, and they are reasonably priced, there were 6 of us at the bar and the tab was only 35.00.
Dinner was another story. We were seated in a crowded little room. The waitress was very good though always checking up on us. My wife wanted veiner schnitzel, which they do not have so she ordered the pork version and wanted an egg on top, which is the authentic German version, she was informed she couldn't get the egg so she ordered a petite filet. The filet was cut up, dry and tasteless. I ordered Prime Rib, it was huge and rare, which is how I like it, but there was no flavor at all. I got some potatoe and veg mix dish for a side, it was dry ,cold and pasty. My Prime Rib was 22. my wifes steak was 20 something I had smoked oysters as an appetizer, they were just ok, again very little flavor,my wife got cake and ice cream for desert, and I had long Island Ice Tea, My Bill was 90.00!! Now that I look back I believe they added a gratuity, and I left around 20% on top of that. I was ripped off. At one time this place may have been a good place, but we really would have been ahead to just go to Longhorn or Outback. We should have figured out when we pulled in at 6:30 on a Saturday night and there were only a few cars there that there might be a problem. Don't waste your money like I did, live and learn.

OMW!. Henry Wahner's Restaurant & Lounge: When was this place built? Not only does the decor look like the 1970's, there is still dirt, dust, and a grease layer left from the era. If this is German cuisine I do not want to go to Germany. I order the Deutsche combo plate. It was a stacked on top of each other and greasy. It was awful. That's all I can say awful.... and by the way there is no sign that tells you that Credit Cards are not accepted, cash only!! This place is truly in the dark ages. The receipt I asked for had to be hand written, unbelievable. Based on their prices they should be able to afford internet or Wi-Fi, but they probably do not know what that is.

Sat Nite Dinner. 2 large T-bones, a German dish and a Prime Rib that was about 2" thick and larger than the plate. The steaks dinners were around $33 and the German dinner was high teens. My T-bone was a little over done (asked for med-rare and got closer to med well) but potatoes, salads, apple sauce and soup were all good. The Prime rib needed a knife to cut through the ring, but other than that, no complaints. 70's decor, but we were there for the steaks, not for ambiance. Will be back the next time I'm in town.

HUGE portions. Well seasoned. A great value in a great old restaurant

Pretty Close to German. First of all, I am German and have been living here in the States for only several years. I know German food. Therefore, the first time I went to Henry Wahners I did not put my hopes up to get anything close to good German food. However, I was quite surprised! The schnitzel is pretty much the same type of schnitzel you can get in any decent Bavarian restaurant (and I come from Bavaria!). The goulash with spaetzle is also excellent and one of my favorite meals there. Long story short, it's pretty darn close to the food you get dished up in Germany and I have always left this place full and happy (large portions too). Unfortunately, they do not have German style dumplings that are a 100% typical German side dish.

Geman Food?. If you looking for authentic German food, don't go here. Perhaps I was spoiled by eating Geman food in Gemany. However, I've had good German food in a few places here in the states since coming back and this is not the place for it. I didn't like it nor did my mother (when she was alive). She too, had been to Gemany and commented on the 'different taste' of this 'Geman food'.

Sorry Henry, aber das ist kein Deutches Essen.

Goulassch and Spatzles was best. Portions were enormous. I tried the combination platter.
