We finally decided to try Fat Daddy's after several years of seeing it across the street during every visit to Foodland.
We should not have waited for so long.
The brisket was perhaps the best I've ever had. The sauce is wonderful and available in three different "heats." The side dishes were also very good, especially the cornbread.
The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the menu, which can be a little confusing. We let the waiter talk us into dividing a pound of brisket among three people. I wish we hadn't because 1/3 lb. just isn't enough of the delicious brisket.
The service was good and reasonably fast, the surroundings are nothing special.
Awesome BBQ joint! It's in such a fun little area across the parking lot from a couple dive bars. We ate everything on the menu and weren't disappointed. Food was quick, service was awesome and drinks were plentiful. Thoroughly enjoyed Fat Daddy's, it gets my recommendation!
Stumbled upon this by accident and I am glad I did. The food was excellent as was the service.
I ordered the "plate" with ribs, the vegetables (green beans) and the loaded potato. As someone who is new to ribs, they were cooked amazingly and I would eat again. The sides complimented the meat very well.

Fat Daddy’s Smokehouse BBQ is a small restaurant serving Texas-style smoked barbecue meats. It is in the Kalama Village small center across from the whale statue on Kalama Park in Kihei. Address 1913 South Kihei Road, phone 808-879-8711. You order at the counter and eat at one of the small tables in the narrow air-conditioned room, or at in the even smaller shaded outdoor picnic table area. The menu is several variations on smoked beef and pork, and their accompaniments. See below for itemized menu choices.
If you're not about to burst because you haven't told anyone you're a vegan in 0.3 seconds, then this is the place for you. They have a wide variety of meats with great side dishes. I suggest going in a group and ordering the sampler dish that includes all the different kinds of meats that they offer. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was their corn bread. Personally did not enjoy the sweetness and mouth feel of it.
Awesome service! Delish sides and perfectly cooked meat! The potion sizes live up to the venues name! A must eat when in maui! Our fav place by far
Fat Daddy's was certainly a nice surprise for us this trip. When nearly every meal in Hawaii is fish since the fish is so outstanding, any deviation from this should be great so you don't feel like you missed out on anything. Fat Daddy's was that kind of place.
Burnt ends, brisket and ribs were really, really good. Wish we had tried the pork but there is only so much room to stuff food! Sides like the corn bread and jalapeño hush puppies were outstanding.
Service was as good as it gets-attentive and friendly. Drinks never reached empty.
Only "negative" comment is regarding the bar b q sauce. Half our party of 4 liked it, the other half thought it too bland and too smokey. Maybe a couple of different sauces would take care of this issue
Anyway, loved our meal and will be back!
Admittedly I search for good smokehouses and most are not as advertised. This one IS A TRUE SMOKEHOUSE! The meat was excellent and tender and the sides were way over the top--better sides than I've ever had at a smokehouse. They were creative and had explosive flavor. We had Brisket and Pulled Pork and Spicy Garlic Beans, Coleslaw, Mac & Cheese, and--get ready--Blue Cheese Balsamic & Green Apple Coleslaw. YUM! I had a hard time finding the place but stopped the car and followed the smoke smell--really--that got us there. This place is THAT good.
Who's Your Daddy. We got the chicken, ribs, brisket, and burnt ends as our 4 meat choices for our sampler plate. Soooooo good!!

Very delicious food here and the service is great! My husband and I ate here twice during our 4day Maui trip because it was THAT good. The first time we ate there the tall waiter (wish I had his name) explained the menu to us. He was very friendly and although the place was crazy busy he kept giving great customer service. The brisket was tender and absolutely delicious as were the ribs and pulled park. The mac n cheese is homemade, need I say more? The coleslaw wasn't the typical mayo one that I have eaten my whole life but a vinegar based one. It was different but good and refreshing. The burnt ends, which I also never had before, were tender and ridiculously good. Thankfully my awesome husband shared his with me :)
The restaurant itself is quite small but comfortable. The only bad thing I saw there was some of the customers were impatient and rude after having to wait a few minutes for the next available table. If there is a wait, it isn't very long and is completely worth it. Trust me :)
The Boys Went for Seconds. The locals inside insisted on telling us that it's their favorite place, especially the chili and the price is reasonable. The chili eaters loved their food! The boys like it so much they went back the next day for the brisket. If you like meat and BBQ, you'll like this place.

Solid BBQ. We got takeout. Got the big meat sampler (brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and brats), an extra half rack of ribs, and cornbread. Loved it. Ribs and brisket were especially good. Big portions, but Maui prices (obviously).
Ribs, macaroni & cheese, and corn bread...amazing!!!
It was ok. It didn't meet my expectations, but wasn't bad. I got the brisket thinking it would be like "Sonnys" style but it came out sliced instead of like a pull pork style. Mac and cheese wasn't really home style but like Kraft. The baked potato was pretty good. It's super tiny inside too if it was busy we prob wouldn't have gone in.
I'm from Va Beach so most of the BBQ I get is the NC "dry" style of pulled pork. Far Daddy's serves the "Texas" style that I love. The pulled pork was some of the best I ever had. The Mac n Cheese was good as well but I've had better corn bread. The Maui tie drink was perfect, not too strong. I was stuffed and happy after leaving this place.
Great value on the assorted meat plate. We split it and the 2 included sides between 3 people. The Mai Tai was delicious.
Awesome food. Great beef brisket, ribs were tender. Cornbread and Mac n cheese were especially tasty. Waitress was very friendly.

Great place. Good food, good friendly service and reasonable prices. Probably the best value of any restaurant I've been to on Maui. Pulled pork sandwiches, barbecued ribs and cornbread are excellent. Wish I would have found this place on one of my earlier visits to Maui. Definitely my first choice for dinner on future visits.
Great pulled pork. After 2 $4 Mai tais I was done. We liked it a lot.
Unfortunately they were out of ribs at 8pm when we stopped by for dinner. But we still enjoyed the pulled pork and beef brisket plates. They both came with 2 sides. We tried cornbread (amazing), baked beans (ok), and mac and cheese (ok). Waitresses were helpful. Music was a little loud and made it feel more like a bar atmosphere than a restaurant. I would recommend this place if you like BBQ. Not the best I've ever had but still pretty good.
Just as promised - fall off the bone ribs to die for. The brats were heavenly and corn bread that melted in your mouth. No nonsense basic eating of good food - a pleasant change from the pomp of upscale tourist places. I thunk this one is a must go and will definitely be back.
Yum! These are great ribs, nice little place, good fresh salad, recommend try it, especially if you like mouth watering ribs!
Everything was really good except for the beef Brisket but I think Maui just doesn't have good beef.

Some places claim to have fall off the bone ribs this place backs up this claim. Fantastic BBQ (this is coming from a Texas resident) and great sides. The cornbread is fantastic! The waitstaff was diligent and friendly. A must visit in kihei!
We are vacationing in Maui and felt like barbecue, so we headed to nearby Fat Daddy's Smokehouse. We were warmly welcomed at the counter and the menu was clearly listed on the blackboard on the wall behind the counter. We ordered our food and in a short time it was delivered to the table. I ordered St. Louis ribs. They were smoky, meaty, and delicious. My wife ordered brisket. She shared some with me and it was lean, smoky, and tasty. My sister ordered chicken and shared a bite with me. It was smoky, moist, and flavorful. We also had a variety of sides: The Carolina slaw was crisp and tangy. The red bliss potato salad was creamy with a hint of dill. The cornbread had the perfect texture and sweetness (not too sweet). The mac 'n cheese had a velvety texture. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The food and service were both quite good. We left satisfied and happy. Fat Daddy's Smokehouse is a great place for barbecue in Kihei.
The brisket was definitely some of the best I've ever had. Burnt ends were delicious! Restaurant is in an area with a LOT of other restaurants, parking was difficult to find in the evening.
We had dinner at fat daddy's smokehouse and the food was delicious. Eric was very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. He knew the food well and could tell he enjoyed it himself. This is not a super fancy smoke house nor should a smoke house be super fancy. Fat daddy's smokehouse has a real classic smokehouse vibe and is a must try should you ever visit Maui.
Delicious. I got the pulled chicken sandwich with a side salad and added a side of corn bread and truffle mac and cheese. I loved everything and would eat here again. My husband liked the beans, Carolina slaw, and pulled pork.
Food was fantastic! The corn bread yumm!! Met the owner and he was great! Would definitely come back here for BBQ.
So glad we followed our nose and ended up eating at this wonderful Guy Fieri approved restaurant. The ribs, brisket and pork belly were amazing. The potato salad is gluten free, my hubby loved his mac and cheese. The portions are HUGE!
We stopped in as we remember seeing Fat Daddy's on Diners Drive in and Dives. If you are looking for BBQ, stop in! We had the ribs and chicken plates. The ribs were right on with the sauce on the side just the way I like them. The meat rub was great and the meat came off the bone with a little bite. The chicken also had a nice rub and was moist and delicious. If you need BBQ in Kihei stop in.
Fat daddy’s smokehouse is overall amazing! Staff is so kind and efficient!! Menu has a large variety of bbq for affordable prices. Most of all the bbq was AMAZING! The ribs had a nice smoke flavor with just the right amount of sauce!! Chicken was tender and very moist and large amount!! If you are a bbq lover this is the place to come!!
I don't understand ANY negative reviews for this establishment. We've been coming here the last three summers when we come to Maui and the food is ALWAYS scrumptious. And the guy that takes our order is always so nice and friendly and helpful! We're from Texas so I believe we know good bbq. And this is some of the best. On this occasion we had chicken, brisket, ribs, burnt ends, potato salad, cole slaw, and the fabulous cornbread. And the servings are more than enough. We always buy extra to take with us. Thank you Fat Daddys for another 5 star lunch/dinner. It was incredible as always!!!

Brisket!! Wow!! It was tender, smoked, and made with love. With that plate hubby got the Mac & cheese, and slaw. All were great! I got the ribs (half rack 4 ribs), chili garlic beans and potato salad. All was good the potato salad stood out.
Let's discuss this corn bread!! This is a highlight thats completes the meal! Sooo good we took 2 pieces to go. Mai Tai and draft on tap, yum.
Employee at the register (in my pic) was super friendly, helpful and great attitude. The employee bringing food was also the same. Customer service makes a huge difference.
We found a picnic table in the patio. A few inside tables were open. Parking in the shopping center and surrounding area. Got there around 7pm.

WOW! There is a reason this is the best BBQ on Maui. Actually, the best BBQ I have ever had!! My son and I split the Who's Your Daddy sampler plate. Yep, we ate the whole thing. It was so much food, I could see the bulge in my belly. The prices may seem a lot even for Maui, but for this BBQ spot, it is definitely worth it. Oh, and try the cornbread. It is also the best ever.
Had high hopes and did not deliver. Food wasn't terrible but definitely not terrific. We split a platter with the brisket and sausage with Mac and cheese as a side. The sausage was really good, brisket was kinda bland and dry. The mac and cheese seemed like glorified Kraft macaroni and cheese. Likely better BBQ places on the island.
Chicken was super tasty, juicy and moist - loved all of our sides, esp the slaw.
There was more than enough food on the plate, not sure why customers are complaining about the size we had to take half home because we where so full! Would return.
