Pizza was great!!! And slices were big...... definitely going back
This pizza is delicious! It looked like there were only 4 employees on hand, so be patient! They were all friendly and attentive. But back to the food, pizza was a 10/10 and we also ordered bbq wings, the chicken and sauce were on point! It looks a little shady in the outside, but a pretty cute set up inside so don't let that stop you from dropping in.
Just got home from eating there (9/7/2015). We are locals and decided to try this place on a whim. To be honest, I've driven by this place daily for over two years and never noticed it - my GF had noticed it and suggested trying it.
We dined-in and the atmosphere was nice - nothing fancy. The owner was working the tables for the dine-in this slow holiday night. The menu is not huge, but is fully featured for pizza and similar items. It's a bit expensive, but no more so than you'd expect in a tourism-focused area of town like this -- the important thing is that it's worth it - read on...
Let's cut to the chase - is it good? Yes, it's good! Better than Flipper's in my opinion. The crust is thin, chewy, and a great vehicle to get the 'good stuff' into my pie-hole as crust should be. The ingredients were measured-out very well - plenty of black olives, the right amount of Italian sausage, etc.
We got the extra-large and easily took half home between the two of us. I'm looking forward to eating the rest over the next couple of days as my work lunches. Will we return or order to-go from Gill's? Absolutely!
Flippers is also great pizza -- however, if you're in the area or wanting to try something different and possibly even better, give Gill's a try. This will become our go-to pizza supplier after tonight!
First off, the pizza and wings are really good. They had plenty of flavor and the prices are not that high, considering the amount of pizza you get. If your looking for dominos prices, then order that instead.
Secondly, I gave it 4 stars because the menu said JUMBO wings, and these wings are NOT JUMBO WINGS, and they should change the wording on the menu to just say "wings".
I will definitely eat there again and I do recommend it.
This place has the best pizza around. They are a little higher priced than some of the fast food pizza joints but if your looking for quality pizza, you won't find it anywhere else. Fresh cooked and delicious with plenty if options for everyone. Amazing pizza, fast service, friendly people, I would definitely go again.
The owners were awesome, and considerate, I ordered Pepperoni, mushroom, and onion on one pizza, and they grilled the onions! I've never had a pizza like that, and I didn't like it too much!
The ambience was just beautiful, and I would definitely try dinner, but I wouldn't go for pizza again!
Nice place to grab a pizza after spending the day walking around the theme parks. We were a little worried when we pulled up because the parking lot was empty and it was prime dinner time. It seems a bulk of their business is carryout though. The pizza was good and so were the prices. Don't go here expecting California pizza kitchen. It's New York style thin crust. They have beer but only in bottles. There is not seating for large parties- several 4 toppers and a six seater but that's it.
At first I drove up on a whim. I looked up the reviews in the car prior to entering. I would have driven off had my kids not said lets give it a try and I want pizza!
At first the place was empty, we got a non-enthusiastic greeting but it was a decent hello is this dining in or out? We were instructed to sit when I said dining in. Keep in mind my expectations after reading the last 3 month's reviews had me on high alert and negative mode.
There was a fly but the server took care of it out of sight (not what I would have done as a server and she kept cleaning never sitting doing nothing a quality as an ex-restaurant manager admires ). The pizza took a bit longer but was the quality of the crust was well worth the wait. Since we added the extra cheese it was gooey at first and tasted really great but not the blend I grew up with in NY. But my kids loved it. The crust was fluffy yet toasted from crust to centet. The wait was now obviosly because it was made to order not sitting waiting on flies like some NY pizzerias in NY. We got med pie, dessert and sodas at 10 per person with aa higher than 20% tip.
The lava cake was not the best but still tasty. While in here 5 families ordered lots of food to go. Our server was efficient and kept up with our needs. I wondered why the heck people had such bad reviews because it was not from the server nor the staff in the kitchen on our visit. I highly suggest the owners give the staff a better environment with a bug light found in most restaurants because its very dated preventing any experienced server from feeling enthusiastic. Maybe the staff will be more energetic when they can have a bit more pride because people would sit and not take out instead.
Over all the pizza is great the location needs work. The staff is doing the best they can at server pay scale with only one table with an uninviting location. Again the pizza crust was the best I have had in a long time owner is losing potential revenue with such a good pizza.
Like other reviews, the exterior is not overly inviting but we went anyway looking for pizza. Got in, not busy at all, server was quick, ordered appetizers (cheese sticks and fries) which were out in no time and were very good. Pizza shortly followed and was well liked as well.
Hands down best pizza in Florida. I'm from Miami, live in Tampa, but go frequently to Orlando and this is hands down the best pizza in all of Florida! Everything is fresh and amazing every time. If you love New York style pizza with tons of melted cheese, this place is for you!!
So happy we tried Gills New York Style Pizza - Best pie we have had in years. Authentic hand tossed perfect crust - fresh everything - great balance and care on toppings. Huge New York slices - my kids fold them in half, some east them backwards to enjoy the chewy crust first. Any way you eat yours you will love Gills when vacationing around the Kissimme area. This place is one of our new favorites around the whole country!!
I ate here a couple of years ago when on holiday from the UK and I remember the Pizza I had was perfected!
I am going back you Florida again next Tuesday being the 10th November and staying at the same hotel just over the road, shall definitely be paying another visit to this place! :-)
Tasty pizza. Open late. If you are visiting Disney, by the time you come out, most of the places are closed. This place opens late and it’s busier during nights. Expect to wait for 30 minutes, if you order after getting there.
Very good pizza. By far the best in the area. Better than a lot of pizzas in NY, and that's coming from a NYer who eats pizza 5 times a week. Their other offerings are limited though. Who do I gotta talk to to get an eppie roll? How can you be NY style and not have chicken rolls? 😑
I do have to agree with one of the other reviews in saying the location needs work. This is a tourist area. People aren't necessarily looking for NY style food in Florida. Moving down to Winter Haven or Auburndale to bring in displaced NYers who have moved down would increase business tenfold. I know I'm gonna be looking for a place in WH for NY pizza when my house is built, and 40 minutes each way to get here just isn't happening.
