Best fish tacos on the island, the coconut sticky rice is awesome and the Mahi Mahi is grilled just right! And, the drinks are amazing too!!
10 stars!!
Awesome service, Amazing Food!!! Every vacation we make multiple trips from Corova to Mo’s, SO worth it!! Well worth any wait to be seated. We usually have a large party as we are a minimum of 5, and they are always very accommodating and bend over backwards for us!!
Home of the best "Happiest Hours" on OBX. Servers are helpful and polite - they made it easy to accommodate extra guests at our table. Food and drinks were outstanding in a dynamic atmosphere.
We enjoyed a nice meal at happy hour at MO's! The wings were and steamed shrimp were on special. My husband enjoyed the jumbo shrimp fried with fries. The fries were not great but the shrimp hit the spot! The kids enjoyed popcorn shrimp and loved the applesauce with fries as sides! We will be back to visit.
Stopped in for lunch, had grilled cheese and she crab soup special, amazing bread & cheese hands down the best she crab soup I ever eaten, another favorite here in OBX
Hands down THE BEST crab legs I have ever had!! We made a quick stop for dinner and had a great time. Get there early, they will fill up quick.
Hurricane Mo's has become my new favorite restaurant at the OBX. This trip I started with the she crab soup. It was excellent, the best I've had in quite some time. Chock full of crab meat. The scallops are lightly fried & tasty. The prices are very reasonable & portion size more than satisfactory. The service was top notch. The only negative I have is that is was soooo hot in there. It was like the air conditioner was not working. I understand the doors open & close often but I wish it had been a bit more comfortable temperature wise. Other than that is was a very pleasant dining experience.
Love this place! I got the fish tacos special, and it had all the fixings!!! Family got shrimp salad, potato salad, kids fish and chips, and chicken quesadilla. All were good. Very delicious!
We made a quick lunch stop here and the place was packed. I got a plate of fried fish and chips. The fish was in smaller pieces than most of the other restaurants in the Outer Banks that we went to do, but it was tasty. The fries were really crisp and yummy. My husband got an Oyster Po'boy which he was pretty happy with, except that the slaw that came with it was a little too sweet. The fries were among the best I have had. Despite how crowded the place was service was fast, and polite.
We would be happy to go back.
We come down to OBX every year and this place is a must stop at least once during our week stay. The kids make us go twice most times. We all order the She-Crab soup every time. I noticed someone complaining in another review about it, but we have had it all over the outer banks and Mo's is the best.
It is a nice bar type restaurant with a very nice outside deck bar that they added a year or two ago.
Place to chill out, have a cocktail and a good meal for a reasonable price.
In my opinion, if you are looking for a nice laid back place eating out in OBX, Kitty Hawk, have to try this place.
One other place to try down here, but in the Nags Head area is a really good spot too , It's called Sam & Ommies, it's a locals bar/ restaurant. We always go here too!!
Excellent tropical atmosphere and delicious food! I had the island grilled chicken with black beans and coconut rice- so tasty! Definitely good
This is by far the best restaurant in the OBX. I was very disappointed at the places that I went all week and then I came to hurricane mo's. The food is the best on the island and i can say that as the sous chef of firebirds in Richmond, VA.
My friend said the she crab soup was amazing and it was the best french onion soup I've ever had. Friendly service, good drink prices. Good portion size on the shrimp.
Some of the best crab soup I have ever had - delicious.
Always great. Very consistent. Good prices.
Fish Tacos are simply amazing.
Absolutely one of the top places to eat in the area...the fried seafod platter is huge & best ive eaten. Excellent prime rib. Service was great
Great lunch. Went for lunch/great specials, friendly service/ looks good after remodeling (hurricane) had grilled mahi with avocado salsa and caesar salad with fried seafood, was great (the saladportion was enuf for 2), will go back
Tasty happy hour wings. Good fried shrimp - not too much breading. I really liked the coconut rice.
We visited the last week of August. We were seated in 10 minutes, the staff was extremely friendly and the atmosphere was casual and beachy. We were with a group of 8, including 4 boys ages 5-11. The food was great, everyone enjoyed their food, from the island chicken to the prime rib to the calamari. Food was served promptly and our waitress was attentive. We would highly recommend as a must go to restaurant/bar. It is very cozy and decorated nicely.
A couple side notes, we read another review about it being hot and no A/c. That was not the case, it was close to 90 outside and the a/c was on and was very cool inside.
Fantastic! She-crab soup was certainly the best I've had. Creamy, lots of crab, and just enough kick to make it a perfect bowl. The Virginia seafood fettuccini for the main course was also superb. I would highly recommend these items. Others in our group enjoyed the crab cakes. Lots of crab with very little filling. Just enough to give them great flavor. Would recommend them broiled. Only downfall was an apparent issue with the air conditioning this evening....but the quality of the meal made it bearable.
Outstanding. The best mixed drinks, atmosphere, and friendliest staff I have come across in the area. After coming to the OBX area one week each year for the past 5 years, I am glad I finally discovered this place. We went three times for drinks during our one week stay recently. We will be visiting this place at least once each year we go. If you some how had a bad experience here I highly recommend you go back, you are missing out.
Happy Hour is outstanding - for $2 you get nearly a pound of steamed shrimp. The IPA is very good. Has my endorsement.
We eat there almost as often as we eat at home! The food is great and made right there for a reasonable price, staff is friendly and attentive and they have terrific wings and steamed shrimp for happy hour every night! Super lunch specials! If you love OBX you gotta try Hurricane Mo's!
Just what a beach joint should be. Good food, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. Problem is that it's so good, you have to wait.
After an awesome day of hitting the waves on the OBX beaches, I decided it was time to try out one of the Happy Hour specials that I always see advertised. Hurricane Mo's has one of the best happy hour specials on the beach. Who can beat 10¢ Shrimp, 25¢ Wings and $1 Tacos? The only caveats are that you must order a regularly priced drink. For additional toppers such as sour cream, onions, tomatoes, salsa or jalapeños, you get to pony up 25¢ for each or opt for the works at $1 for all of them. I ordered the Mo Berry Freeze (Raspberry Vodka, Kahlua, Black Raspberry Liquer and Cream) for my drink which comes with a Hurricane Mo's souvenir glass. I ended up getting one of each of the happy hour items to give me an idea of what they had to offer. The Steamed Shrimp were spiced with Old Bay and had drawn butter and cocktail sauce served on the side. You really can't get shrimp wrong and this was no exception. The next course that I tried was the hot wings which along with my extra side of blue cheese and celery sticks. The hot wings were moist and the heat of the sauce was just right not too hot not too weak. Finally I tried the tacos with and without the works; I preferred the taco with the works where I had control of the fillings and spiciness. I was very pleased with the entire Happy Hour experience and will make it s point to get in there at least once more this week. If you need your Happy Hour fix and are in the area, this is one deal you've got to take advantage of, you can't beat the quality and price.
We were a large group and were seated promptly. Cheerful & attentive service. Seafood platter very good: broiled scallops served with wonderful mixture of fresh steamed veggies. Fish tacos also very good. We took home a good slice of key lime pie to share; YUM. MAT, Fort Worth, TX ; We will definitely return an try their happy hour.
We stopped in for a quick bite and it was a great find. The wings were tasty and the Mahi sandwich was very freshly. I had the special of the day which was a mahi ceaser wrap and I would definitely go back for it.
First time customer and everything was great. Had oysters “Mo”(their rendition of oysters rock) which were very delicious as well as a bowl of “she crab soup” (extremely flavorful and creamy with a hint of heat…yum). As a main course I had the fried seafood platter. Never was a fan of fried oysters but I found these very tasty along with the house tartar sauce.
Came here for a quick dinner. Turns out there is usually a wait at many of the restaurants in OBX so promptly put our name down and waited. 25min later we got the text and sat down.
We didn't want anything fancy so ordered a couple of kids menus, a salad, and some popcorn shrimp and called it a night. Not a bad spot to go to.
Hurricane Mo’s is the place to go any day of the week. Be warned- everyone knows this! Happy Hour starts at 3 and ends at 5 pm. During this time, shrimp is $.25, wings are $.50 and tacos are just $1.00. A daily drink special is available as well. If you do not get there early, expect a wait - a wait such as an hour… if you are fortunate to hit MO’s at just the right time, you will likely be pleased with the speed of service, accuracy of orders, and food delivered. Waiting may be worth it! Staff is very pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately, being so popular, the noise level is too much. It was difficult to have a conversation without hearing neighboring tables yell their own conversations because of the high volume of noise. Sitting outside may not have this issue. Atmosphere would be better if less crowded and packed into the small area. Definitely recommend!
Had a great lunch with great service! We had a soft shell crab sandwich special, garden salad with seared fresh tuna, and the she crab soup. Excellent fries! Got seated right away (12 noon) before the tourists showed up. They have an ocean view bar upstairs, it was getting setup while we were there. Nice atmosphere and great Mo swag in tie dye colors. Enjoy!
Our waiter was great and attentive. We tried the She Crab soup. It was very delicious with a lot of crab meat. I tried the pasta with Shrimp and Scallops. It had plenty of seafood in it and had a very good taste. I would definitely get it again.
My mom had the pan seared scallops and loved them.
My uncle tried the seafood platter and said it was delicious.
We are going to try and go back for the happy hour menu.
The service was outstanding and the ambiance is a perfect beach vibe with TVs for the sports fans. The happy hour choices and prices are awesome and the food was delicious. Some of the best, lightly breaded fried pickle chips we've had. Definitely worth checking out but you better get there early as they get a rocking crowd rather fast in the evenings! We enjoyed Shrimp, Tuna Bites, Chicken Wings and their awesome burgers.
Great Happy Hour Specials. Steamed shrimp was amazing. Downgraded them to 4-Stars because their draft beers tasted like they were cross-contaminated with other Kegs in the draft beer tap lineup. The Pacifico tasted like the Fruit-Flavored Beer next to it.
Such a cool place to take a minute out of the heat and grab a bite to eat. Food was fresh and tasty. Server was quick and friendly. Drinks were always full. Worth stopping in to try.
Hurricane Mo's the best happy hour in the outer Banks I would have shown more picture of the tacos and wings but I ate them already
The highlight of this visit was the service. Rachel B was lightning fast and friendly. I think this is the fastest I've ever had a drink served to me!
The food was delicious as well, I nearly inhaled my plate it was so good.
Food was excellent! Highly recommended the crab dip.Quick, friendly service. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.
One of my favorite places to visit when I'm in the OBX. The Cat 5 bar is the best!! The food, drinks and staff are phenomenal.
We ordered take out. Are huge. Order was correct. We didn't have any problems or corrections to make. Everything was great. We went 2 different times and in total ordered ordered the pickles, the wings, the crab soup, quesadilla and the pan seared seafood platter. Kim, the manager, got all the sauces right the 1st time as well. It was extremely crowded every time we went there so make sure that you call ahead and give them plenty of time to make your order just in case For both our orders it only took about 15 to 25 minutes as they promised. Kids and adults welcomed, bar seating and saw they have availability for large parties. AWESOME JOB guys. You won't be disappointed. They really do have EXCELLENT FOOD!!!!
fried calamari and crab dip both were tasteful appetizers. main course fried seafood platter and steamed crab both were great👍🏻
Almost five stars!!! We arrived early for dinner time at 4:30. (Happy hour ended at 5.) The front desk staff was very accommodating and there were benches right outside to wait. Our party of 6 was seated around 5:15, we had a corner table with plenty of room. Our server was terrific and our appetizer of calamari came out almost immediately. We are it so fast I didn't get a chance to take a picture! Our food came right behind and if you want GREAT fried seafood, they Nailed It. I took one star off for our drinks from the bar, the first Margarita I had was great. However, the drink my daughter ordered was terrible, the waitress removed it from our tab (thank you) and we ordered two Margaritas, one for her and one for me (my second). They were both very sour and salty as well. Would order different drinks next time. They make perfect southern Cole Slaw (it's sweet), Hush puppies, and the Caesar salad with scallops was also enjoyed. Would definitely recommend Hurricane Mo's!
The one man band rocked!! Our family had the best time jamming out to him. We went after 6pm (happy hour) and we easily found seats for 3 people and quickly found a nook for our party of 8. Food and drinks were okay- like typical dive bar flavors. But yummy. Would def return!
Excellent food and service. Best meal we had on our vacation. Happy hour is hard to beat for shrimp and wings
The service was fantastic. The waitress did a great job to make the experience pleasant and was personable with her customers.
The food was hit or miss. It was either fantastic or meh. I got the boiled shrimp off happy hour menu and those were AMAZING!!! I got the crab dip appetizer and sent it back because it was a little bland and the cheese they used made it too oily. I got the broiled platter and the 3 shrimp were overcooked, the 2 scallops were cooked well but a bit fishy, the crab cake was delicious, but the mahi mahi was waaaaay waaaay over cooked. The black beans were well seasoned and coconut rice was remarkable!
