My dinner last night at Piatti was spectacular!!! I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years and have never had a bad meal. The server Diego was wonderful - extremely attentive from start to finish. I highly recommend the calamari appetizer, Cesar salad, veal scallopini and the rolled mushroom pasta. And the home made bread with balsamic / olive oil dipping sauce is the best I've ever tasted! Thank you thank you! Oh...and don't forget to order dessert - the tiramisu is not to be missed!

We ran into this place on a fluke. The place where we parked our car told us about it (said they would validate our tix to 3.00) so we decided to check it out. They were booked but we happen to score a place at the bar. Pure luck. Being new to the place, the bartenders were very helpful and gave us dinner recommendations on the menu. I had the wild mushroom rotolo and hubby had the special which was some type of pasta with duck in it. Both were superb. The drinks were delicious. I had a couple of martinis and the hubby had a suggested drink from the bartender (forgot the name), and the drinks were on point! Bartenders were super friendly, professional, and entertaining as well. Will definitely come back again.

This is our favorite Italian restaurant while in San Diego. They have good vegetarian options as well. They have great wines, best home made raviolis in lemon cream, and tasty pizza. Their tiramisu cake is out of the world! Love this place. Oh! And I can't describe in words their amazingly tasty apetizer bread what they serve with olive oils, balsamic and fresh herbs. It's my favorite of all!

A nice Italian food spot near La Jolla Shores. Lots of seating inside the restaurant, in attached patio, and then on street (covid outdoor seating that pretty much became permanent). Dishes were quite flavorful w/ great presentation. The oil and vinegar that came w/ the ciabatta demi-loaf had a nice "bite" to it w/ the addition of crushed peppers. Those that like traditional oil & vinegar may find it too spicy. I liked how the romaine in their caesar salad was cut, almost chopped. Sometimes in salads the greens are too large but these were a nice size. I had the veal picatta in lemon-caper butter sauce w/ mushroom risotto and sauteed spinach. The veal was tender and I love capers, but I thought the serving size of the 2 veal cutlets to be a bit small, almost child proportions. Flavorful in the butter sauce but small. The mushroom risotto cakes were interesting. Made in a triangular shape, my daughter thought they were potato cakes. Could have used more sliced mushrooms. It was maybe a ratio of 25% mushroom to 75% risotto. A nicer ratio might have been 33% mushroom. The sauteed spinach reminded me of how my mom prepared it. Not overly soggy, but just soft enough. The natural tart of the spinach worked well w/ the lemon-caper sauce for the veal. Decided on a non-alcoholic drink and I'd recommend the berry lemonade. Overall, I'd say a nice place for a first date. Good food that would impress your date but won't break the bank, and it's well w/in walking distance to La Jolla Shores to watch the sunset.

Love this place. The food is always good. The waiters are great. Either outside or inside is cozy and elegant. One of those places that has kept their reputation for good food! We go many times during the year and try new things. Breakfast is also good!

Ciabatta Demi-loaf is super good! The texture of the bread is a little bit stiff for me. But after dipping in the sauce, it is surprisingly delicious. The lemon herb half chicken is a little bit too dry.

First time to eat here, celebrated my son and his GF's engagement. Bread with oil & vinegar was very good. I had spaghetti with meatballs, noodles were cooked well and sauce was tasty. Quite a few small meatballs, they were delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed their different plates and commented how good they were. A could people were unable to finish their plates as they had the calamari appetizers, which disappeared rather quickly.

This place has been around for ever, and quality has not decreased in my opinion. Last night they where very busy but things went smoothly. My only qualm was with the mussel apetizer. They where bit dry and lacking in flavour. Everything else was spot on and a vehicle to a wonderfull evening.

Great service and food came out fast. The fresh pasta was delicious. Get the shrimp saffron dish, quite unique and tasty. The dough for the pizza was so soft, my boys loved it. The red sauce was well done, very flavorful and the sausage had some amazing flavors. The tiramisu was delicate and disappeared fast.

Passed by and decided to try it last week when we visited San Diego- SO good! Home-feel italian interior with open kitchen- you can see the chef moving around preparing your pasta! Low key but classy decors. Food- we ordered wine and cocktail to pair with our pasta. Not only was the pasta perfectly done, but the saffron sauce was also rich and robust in flavor. Will definitely come back here! 😋

While exploring La Jolla for a day of kayaking, my husband and I decided to try one of the local spots for a bite to eat. With plenty of Italian options to choose from, we settled on Piatti because of its cozy ambiance. The wait was around 30 minutes, but that was expected since it was a busy weekend and Piatti was clearly a popular choice among locals and tourists. Once we were seated, our waitress greeted us with a friendly smile and our food arrived surprisingly quickly. I ordered the Cannelloni, and it was absolutely delicious and filling. After paddling in the cold water for couple of hours, it was the perfect hearty meal that hit the spot. My husband opted for the vegan pizza, and he loved the combination of eggplant, grilled shiitake mushrooms, arugula, and vegan feta. Overall, our experience at Piatti was delightful. If you're in La Jolla and in the mood for Italian food, Piatti is definitely worth a visit.
