Woody's Burgers San Diego La Jolla

Was there on a Friday evening to try the place out. The Good: The food was very tasty. Burgers juicy and properly cooked. The onion rings were excellent. The fries were nicely crispy and lightly seasoned. Service was excellent, and the food came out in reasonable time. The order line later in the evening was pretty long as they became very busy. The Not so good: They had a live band there, and maybe I'm getting to be a crochety old man but the band was way too loud. Couldn't hold a conversation with the person across the table from me without shouting, and had to lean in close to talk to the person next to me, and we were seated well away from the stage. The band music itself was fine, just too loud. Needs Improvement: Their ordering/billing system. Walk in, queue up, and order from the counter. So far so good. You then get a table flag (if you're eating in) and they bring out the food to you. Still OK. You then have to queue up again and go pay at the same counter. Not so good. Particularly since the way they have the service counter arranged, the credit card machine is on one side, the food comes out the middle, and the register is on the other side. Not very efficient, and makes for a long wait to pay and leave.

Owner is very nice. Food is amazing make sure you get mac and cheese bites. Love it here!
