We had a very poor experience last Thanksgiving and they knew they'd not lived up to their reputation as being a great place for fine dining. They issued our party a gift card for their mistakes in service so we went for Thanksgiving again. The service food and experience couldn't have been any better. Our server was on point and familiar with the menu and we never felt rushed during our meal. The owners and staff visited the tables to assure the guest were happy. We will certainly return again.
My fiancé and I went there Friday for his 41st birthday. It was our first visit there, but it certainly won’t be our last. The food was AMAZING!! We had the biggest and the best ribeye we have ever eaten!! The cafe sampler for 2 was delicious!!!! I had a lemon drop martini unlike any other martini I’ve ever had! Rebecca, our server, was awesome!!! We will definitely be back!!
This place has the best food, service, and atmosphere in Lafayette--no, I'll wager, in Louisiana. It's welcoming, dazzling, and most of all, comfortable. Any top New Orleans or even Houston restaurant would be given a run for their money! I highly recommend it!
The food, the atmosphere, the music, the owners... all top notch. I go there for my anniversary, for business, for lunch with friends and I always find a degree of personal touch that makes the meal wonderful.
Cafe V knows how to take care of their guests!
Café Vermilionville hosted a splendid evening for Stuller staff and guests. The vintage property was quaint, roomy and homey - inside and out... the staff were attentive, courteous and festive. ... the live music was fantastic... and the food was delicious. I highly recommend!
Attended a wedding this weekend at Cafe V....Perfect .. everything ! From the food to the staff ...A+ to all of you

great evening at Cafe ,,,food was the best and the Fall series of entertainment was great. Mike and Rosalie Bruce
Endroit charmant!

One of my favorite restaurants!! Had such a great dining experience! The food and live entertainment was a perfect way to celebrate an early birthday! The owners, Ken and Andrea are truly top notch!!
Great experience! Our waiter Cody G. was magnificent, very attentive but most of all very handsome!
I recently held my wedding and reception at Café V, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly—both for everyday dining and for special events. The food is incredible, the restaurant and courtyard are beautiful, and the service is Louisiana hospitality at its very best. Ken and Andrea and their amazing staff handled every detail with professionalism and grace, and went the extra mile to make my wedding day perfect. I can’t wait to go back!
This past weekend I celebrated my 40th birthday. My weekend was filled with a fun weekend with friends and family. I am so blessed and thankful for everyone who made my weekend so amazing. During my birthday weekend, my husband whisked me away for a nice, quiet dinner at Cafe Vermilionville. Cafe Vermilionville is one of the local restaurants that have been around for a long time.
Have dined here on several occasions, always a "bon temp". Good dining atmosphere (4.5), friendly service (5.0), nice entree selections. Tonight we each had turtle soup (4.5), I had the Fish Acadian (4.0), the bride had duck (4.5), and each a tasty desert (4.0). Overall an enjoyable dining experience. We will be back!
Vermilionvillo is FANTASTIC in every way!!! Food, service, decor--has it all. We were fortunate to eat here three time during out stay in Lafayette. The food is perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. We were lucky and had Jacob as our server twice for dinner. He is a suburb server in every sense of the word, professional, witty, attentive, helpful and so very friendly. He is a total delight and asset to the restaurant. Each meal was excellent. The turtle soup outstanding!! The first night we both ordered the seafood gumbo and the gulf fish Acadien, both were excellent. The second night we both tried the turtle soup, oh yes, what a supreme soup! That night I decided to try the blackened Mahi Mahi, delicious! The fish was perfectly prepared.
We were lucky that we were in town for Mother's Day lunch. They had well thought out menu with good variety in choices. We stayed with the tried and true, turtle soup and Acadian fish. Dessert was Godiva white chocolate bread pudding which was terrific.
The owners are hands on making certain everything is going well with all diners. We so enjoyed visiting with the owners, so friendly and welcoming. Everyone with whom we came in contact was friendly and made us feel welcome and appreciated. Thanks to the owners, chef, kitchen staff and servers for 3 memorable meals.
LOVE this place! I ate the filet stuffed with cheese and crawfish, it was DELICIOUS!! I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a great place to eat in Lafayette
Came alone on a summer Wednesday night and found the food, wine and service excellent. I chose the sampler app, turtle soup and the spinach salad, followed by the bananas foster cheesecake. The dessert was eh, a 5 on a 1-10 scale. The rest of my meal was a solid 8-9-well worth the expense. As others have said this place is beautiful-a great choice for a romantic dinner or a quiet dinner with friends. Glad a friend recommended it! Try the sampler app-it's a clear 10
Classiest Restaurant in Lafayette. Very historic restaurant. An ante-bellum inn that was used by both the Yankees and Confederates during the Civil War. Wait staff is very friendly and professional, and food is good, if pricey. Turkey and Sausage Gumbo is good. Best economy at Lunch time menu.
Classic. Simple, elegant and understated. That statement is as much about the food as it is the atmosphere. For a classic, Cajun style atmosphere and mood, Vermilionville is in an Acadian styled home with a big garden out back for patio dining. I had the roasted corn and crab bisque, it was so good, I was tempted to forgo an entree and order another cup. Glad I didn't. Ordered the short ribs with dumplings that were amazing. Apparently they sell out of it quick, I was the last one and it was only 7. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a no frills but classic elegant setting with good Cajun fare.
Update: Have had two really nice meals here lately. Wonderful setting. Nice, large old home. High ceilings. Wooden beams. Exposed brick. And food has been really good recently in our experience. Especially enjoyed the foie gras with pepper jelly appetizer.
Great atmosphere, but this restaurant is past its prime. Has been a "classic" Lafayette restaurant for years. Set in old Acadian-style home. Classic Louisiana fare - fish dishes, steaks, etc. But I have found the food to have really gone down over recent years. Very inconsistent. Dishes tend to be too heavy on rich sauces. But the crawfish beignets appetizer is still one of my all-time favorites.
Rediculously......good. I went here for a birthday party for a friend. We had every appetizer on the menu, and then out choice of entree. I had the scallops with this devinepotato cake and fried leeks - I thought I had died and gone to heaven. All the oysters on the appetizer menu were prepared to perfection. I am not a big oyster person, but I could not get enough of these. The oysters were seared perfectly and melted in my mouth like butter. I cannot wait for another opportunity to visit this establishment - clearly tops in my book!
My wife and I eat there often - the food and the service are outstanding. Their porterhouse cut lamb is amazing especially when served with a glass of good red wine. I think you'll love the place!
I love this restaurant it's in a historic building with lots of character, fire places, and a nice courtyard. The tables have white linen and a single lit candle. The service is excellent! It is very expensive our bill with appetizer, entree, bottle of red wine, and sharing a desert was $137 plus tip. Everything was delicious .
Really good, $$$$. They have the best bacon-wrapped shrimp in Acadiana. King Louis Steak is out of this world. Can get any meal topped with seafood. The service is always good (not too busy for lunch, try it then). Romantic setting and a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The desserts change and always at least 6 choices-bread pudding is what they hang their hat on.
Quaint historic venue for a restaurant. The inside of the building has been preserved quite well. The food was delectable. I ordered the Gulf Fish Acadien and the other White Chocolate Bread Pudding (house favorite) for dessert. The fish was cooked to perfection and the bread puddin’ did not disappoint. I also had a nice refreshing mocktail that was unlike anything I’ve had before; Apple Sage Cider Lemonade. Ambiance was laid back—fine dining yet also casual. I must say, walking out and seeing the CVS propped right next to this 1835 classic was quite the humorous juxtaposition.
The food was great and because of the reservation requirements, it was not overly busy and noisy. Only knock was I wish there was a little more light inside. Some customers had to use their cellphones to see the menu well.
One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a while. Went for mother’s day lunch when a modified menu was served. Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to eat here and now I can’t wait to go back! This is a great spot for special occasions and such a gem located in Lafayette!
We were visiting from California and a local resident recommended this restaurant. The food was excellent and had some unique, delicious flavors. The atmosphere was lovely.
Our waiter, Trevor was very attentive too.
I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Awesome fine dining experience and experience a piece of history that is still standing today. All food is fresh, made from scratch and will guarantee to get you full. The owner came out to greet us, asked us about our dining experience and where we from and our server Louis was awesome too. If you never ate there before, I would highly recommend it. One of the best kept secrets in Lafayette.
Delicious! The Grouper with risotto and asparagus was great. The chocolate chip, coconut pecan pie was excellent. Great atmosphere. Perfect for a date night. The bar area was very quaint, with the most comfy bar stools you'll ever experience!

Waiter Lance was a Sweety pie to my dinner companion and me.
I ordered the seafood gumbo. I was very happy that it came out HOT. There was a generous portion of seafood in the gumbo. The roux is very dark in color. It was a bit on the salty side, but not unbearably disappointing to where I couldn't still enjoy it.
I also had the chicken dinner that was cooked wonderfully in a 🍄 mushroom sauce and placed atop of roasted potatoes and 2 stalks of asparagus. The chicken breasts were REALLY juicy and prepared well.
I took home the pork chop meal. Wow!!!! Loved the porkchops, too!!!!!
The bread pudding is tasty, too...eventhough I'm not a fan of this dessert, I was curious and wanted to try it.
I will definitely be back to bring my family, future dates and guests here.
We enjoyed our evening, Courtyard Concert Series was fabulous. Waiter and food was great. We had bacon wrapped shrimp, warm spinach salad, corn and crab bisque, steak louis.
Took my wife there for our 10th anniversary. There was a card on our table that said happy anniversary signed by the staff it was a nice personal touch. It was our first time dining there I’m very happy I picked this place. Great atmosphere loads of history and just the right balance of cozy and class. Second was the other customers which is not fully under the control of the restaurant but can greatly effect the experience they fit right into the cozy/classy environment and I felt very comfortable dining there. Last but not least the food absolutely perfect we will be returning in the future.
We came for dinner during a weeknight because this is reputed to be Lafayette's best restaurant--the closest thing we have to fine dining. The wine list and cocktail menu were superb. I ordered a French 75 off menu and we were all pleased with our drinks. The starters were uninspiring (mushroom ravioli and bacon wrapped shrimp), but our daughter loved her cup of gumbo. The entrees were excellent. Duck confit, lamb, and crawfish topped snapper. Great flavors. I am a peasant of poor breeding so I expected bread with the entrees, but apparently that's not how sophisticated folks roll. No pun intended. Desserts were satisfactory. I'm of the opinion that bread pudding is an affront to both bread and dessert but my wife exclaimed that it was among the best she's tried. I loved the carrot cake. It was rich but not decadent. The atmosphere is cozy, and this historic country home is charming and romantic. Great place for a special celebration. Starters B-, Entrees A-, Desserts B, Atmosphere A-, Service A-.
