Chris' Cafe offers table service and to-go orders along with a surprising list of food choices. Daily specials are offered. I had the fried shrimp poboy that came with potato chips. The Cole slaw on the sandwich was good, but for me, I could have used a bit more dressing. My friend had the gumbo that was severed with white rice and a roll. She said it was very good. I had ordered French fries, not knowing chips came with my meal. They had spicy seasoning on one side.

Been hearing about the gumbo so I had to try it.. Had the chicken and sausage, it was really good. The potato salad was a little lacking on salt but was decent. Shrimp Poboy was good but not exceptional.. The place wasn't that busy and food was prepared fairly quickly. The service was very professional and attentive.

I've been eating here for a few years now. Great food and service. Last time I ordered A boiled shrimp poboy and they skimp on the shrimp, so alot more bread than shrimp for the $$$ they charge you. And yes I did tell them upfront. Would eat here again the gumbo is amazing.

Excellent poboys here! The portions are also a great size. I highly recommend getting a whole one and sharing it with a friend. Instead of chips be sure to get fries!

Great gumbo! Best Poboys anywhere.
Update: I came back a today 7/18/23. Ordered the catfish poboy. It was delicious. Hot, freshly cooked catfish, not reheated, and it is spiced perfectly. The staff is always friendly.

The atmosphere is light and airy. The service is great. The prices and the poboys are good. I'm only giving 4 stars because I feel the "warm" muffelatta sandwich would have been much better if it were toasted longer. Otherwise, everything was wonderful.

The poboys are excellent here. I get the BBQ roast beef because I'm not a fan of the gravy, but my friends I go with love everything they've had. They go so often they have their favorites. The atmosphere is so so, but it is a restaurant that does sit down and to go so people bustling about can deter the mood. Family friendly.

Been doing to-go, and good food. Roast beef po-boy and combination platter are my go-to's. Their gumbo is delicious too, just make sure its hot before indulging, and do not forget the potato salad!

Heard the gumbo was the best in town so I had to try it. Went around lunch time and placed a to go order. Even though there was a good sized crowd there, I still got my order promptly. The gumbo was indeed delicious! I look forward to coming back and trying out more of the food options.

Great good, great service, great atmosphere always! My favorites are their chicken and sausage gumbo and the Chris’ special.

Who's to say where the "best poboy" in town is? I have my opinion, and it isn't Chris'. But, they do make a solid sandwich. Had the Chris' special and let me tell you this- grab a bunch of napkins for this bad boy. Had the full poboy, dressed with potato salad. This also comes with chips and a pickle spear. The sandwich itself is pretty solid. Chris' uses actual roast beef from a pot roast, not deli meat. The veggies are all fresh and the bread was pretty good. A little crunchy, but not so much that you need a shop vac when you're done. Honestly, hated the potato salad. Took one bite and done. Barg's root-beer is available as well. Chris' exceeded my expectations, and will be added to my poboy rotation.

This location is in the back of a gas station but don't let that deter you any.
The bread was very fresh - we saw the delivery. I prefer this type of bread to the harder French bread but that is a personal taste. I do suggest you give Chris a try when having a poboy fix.

Picked up lunch for the second time in recent months, and it was awful. Fried shrimp were small and sparse and overfried with no batter, the fries were ice cold. Several months ago I picked up dinner and literally the entire meal was wrong and food was missing. I called and they sent me a $5 gift card (which I never used). Not sure what changed but it will be a long time before I give them another chance!

Best ever!!!. I think the roast beef poboy is absolutely amazing!!!!! Best poboy I ever ate!!
This location is located in a gas station but I still find the atmosphere to be great! Staff always very very nice!! My kids love to eat here also, they enjoy the gumbo!
Highly recommend you try this place for yourself!

Disgusting. The nastiest meal I've ever had. Don't go here. The potatoe salad was rotten the shrimp were awful the portions were tiny. It cost me $15.00 and I can't begin to tell you how terrible the food was.

Okay, but nothing special.. I indicated I "liked" this only because I didn't hate it. But it left me unimpressed.

It's essentially a glorified sandwich shop inside a gas station. The food was okay, but portions weren't huge, and nothing jumped out as great. It also took a long time for the order to be prepared (basically 3 poor boys and fries)...and since I was taking it home, it gets boring pretty fast hanging out at a gas station.

Just nothing special. I wish Old Tyme had a shop on this side of town.

Need Lots of Napkins. The poboys at Chris' are outstanding. They are the closest to New Orleans poboys I have found in Acadiana. Order the roast beef with ham and cheese, The large is enough for two.

Chris' is THE best poboy place in town, no doubt!!! I love everything about them! Awesome service. Those waitresses over there sure do know how to wait tables! The best ones in town, I'm telling you!!!

Horrible Attitude. I was willing to overlook the sometimes stale bread, the way they wrap the whole poboys in papers too small so your poboy falls outs all over your carry out bag and the occasional stale batch of fries with ever increasing prices on everything.

HOWEVER. They messed up my order, and it was such an ordeal and I was treated with such disdain and lack of general courtesy that I will NEVER go back to Chris's Poboys. The general manager on the Pinhook location not only gave me a hard time, but he didn't want to give me my money back.

Since I have had this experience, I have found several other "burned" people who were treated poorly after Chris's made a mistake. Apparently they're one of the local restaurants who count on customer loyalty and not quality of food or service to carry them through.

OK. That's it. Not bad service, but nothin special. Not bad food but nothing special. Did enjoy the gumbo, but the Special wasn't very special. I might just be spoiled by the Darrell's special in my hometown of Lake Charles

Their poboys are so authentic and they are very generous with their portions on platters and salads. It's a great atmosphere and great food!!
