Review Bosphorus - Lake Hiawatha

We have been living in the area for a long time, but only recently discovered this little local gem! Have been here twice and tried gyro, fish, lamb dish and everything is delicious! Love the cold dish and desserts! Do not miss the almond pudding and kunefe. Both are wonderful!

Incredibly delicious and authentic Turkish food! The tea and coffee were great starters. Got the lamb Adana platter for lunch- one of the most flavorful meals. Platter for lunch for quite filling! Includes a cold app, soup/or salad and meal. Service was friendly, great location. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

Great small, cozy and local restaurant! Not many tables, but very clean and neat. You feel almost like on Europe. Menu is straight forward and had many enticing items. Food is tasty and fresh! Homemade as they claim! It was late in a weekday, so the place was not full. I’m sure you better reserve it for busier nights. I would definitely return!

Delicious Turkish food! You can tell everything is made to order and so fresh. We loved the döner gyro and Lamb shish kebab, hummus, babaganoush, shepherd salad and lentil soup. Lunch special was an amazing deal too. Will come back!!

Small restaurant but delicious food… I have read the reviews of this restaurant and wanted to try this. What could be better than my birthday to try? It was my b’ day dinner with my lovely wife. We were coming back from seaside heights and called to reserve the table. They said you don’t need it, you ll get the table upon arrival. Closing time was 9 Pm and we reached by 8:15 PM. I live in the same neighborhood from last 2 years but never perceived this restaurant. Glad we come to know about this. Its small restaurant but 35+ people can dine together. We got the table and settled in. There was only one server who was taking care of all 4-5 occupied tables. We ordered special Adana kabab and Lamb chops. Lamb chops were charcoal grilled and aroma of charcoal increased its taste. It was great and so was Adana kabab. Mutton kababs very well marinated and comes with buttery flavor bread and rice. We enjoyed our dinner thoroughly. Recommended. Update (14-Apr-2023) My favorite Mediterranean restaurant. It was a special day, and I brought my friend. Got the table, settled, and ordered the below items Baba ghanoush: this time instead of hummus, went with baba ghanoush. A mix of eggplant, Yogurt – comes with Pita pieces of bread – great, 4.5/5 Garlic Butter Shrimp: so recently I had this item in one of the Argentinian restaurants, there they just serve 6-7 shrimp sauteed in butter and spinach – that’s it. Here in Bosphorus – it’s small shrimp, full of spices and salad at the side. sumptuous And then our favorites. Adana kebab And chicken Adana Comes with rice and salad. Would recommend, start eating as soon it lands on your table. It tastes great when it’s hot. It’s on skewers, properly cooked with spices, it’s juicy, melting in the mouth– it’s too good. Service was good, lovely, cute restaurant, staffs are very friendly and will answer all of your questions patiently. Lovely meal. 4.5/5

I love this restaurant. Foods are so delicious and waitresses are so friendly. I highly recommend this place especially if you have an American friends and would you like to treat them with Turkish cuisine. I will visit again soon.

We went here the day after thanksgiving 2017. We ordered a greek salad and a hummus/baba ganoush platter for our starters. There was a red pepper smoked eggplant side that was out of this world- so so good. I am a vegetarian and I ordered the falafel. They had very little choices for vegetarian if you ask me. I was very unimpressed, unfortunately. The falafel was basically really dry and lacked flavor. The sauce (which I asked for extra of) wasn't good. I was very sad and only ate like 2 of them because they were so gross. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals. My brother and partner got a meat dish for 2 to share and both really enjoyed it and said everything was really yummy. My aunt and my grandmother also both like their dishes. The Service from the beginning was OUTSTANDING. Very pleasant, prompt, and we never ran out of water which is AWESOME. They were always checking on us, clearing plates, asking us if we needed anything. It was really really great. You can tell they take a lot of care to make sure their clients are happy. The atmosphere is really beautiful. Everything is really clean and warm and inviting. My only complaint is there are like a million tables and there is barely any room to walk through if you are plus size.

Food is good w.r.t taste, but takes time to deliver order. We ordered chicken adana with butter drink and it comes as a package called lunch plater, the quantity is huge for a single person and they have other option called lunch special, which comes with lunch plater plus one sauce and soda, that's going to be super huge. Small restaurant but decent. Super food quality, and little expensive, but it's worth for the quality and quantity of the food. My suggestion is order first and go so you will save sometime.

Food is amazing. Lamb is delicious and Chicken Kebab platters are amazing! Food is fresh and excellent customer service. Delivery was prompt. So flavorful!

What a wonderful surprise luncheon with my husband! We've been to the Bosphorus Restaurant before and loved our experience. So much so that I kept their address in my phone! This visit was no different! The ambiance, the food, and the friendly service all combine to make a special delight! I especially love the spiced fried liver that we chose as a meze...an appetizer. You can not tell it's liver. It is a delicacy that dances in your mouth and makes you want more. Husband had the Doner Lunch platter, served with rice and a salad. I had the Adana Lunch platter. We were both pleased with our meals. We shared a dessert, the traditional Baklava, which had 4 sweet pieces made to share! We left with full bellies! The waitstaff was most accommodating and often checked on our wellbeing. This Gem of an Eatery seems almost hidden in its location, but do take the time to find and enjoy their offerings! I noticed they also had take-out service. The Bosphorus is perfect for a family gathering, a romantic occasion or just to have a good Halal meal. My only regret is that I wished we lived closer! Five Stars all the way.

A true hidden gem of Lake Hiawatha. The food is delicious, fresh and healthy. The Chicken Adana is full of flavor and hands down my favorite. The gyros are great for when i'm on the go. Also can't forget about the homemade baklava topped with whipped cream. The atmosphere is welcoming and homey. Service is quick and friendly. Just ask and you shall receive. Would definitely recommend this unique restaurant to anyone.

Found this place by googling "lentil soup near me" on a cold and dreary day. Bosphorus was the first result and did not disappoint. Likely the best lentil soup I have ever had. I have been back since, the food is great and the service is warm and friendly. The atmosphere is also very cozy. Great local place!

We have been dining at Bosphorus Restaurant for years! The food is excellent, the staff are friendly. It is a family owned business who really care about their customers. We feel it's the best Turkish food in the area.

So, so disappointed in my beloved Bosphorus tonight. Have eaten here a million times. Excellent food..have taken friends and family and even had Easter dinner there. Usually order take out once or twice a month..almost always the same a shrimp and chicken shish. Tonight when I called the chicken shish was question..do you mean a kabob? Lamb was mentioned...I explained cubed chicken..I repeated chicken several times. I know miscommunication can happen. We got lamb..don't eat red meat . When I called, the man wanted to argue about it but said if we brought the lamb back they would replace...and they did. Again, they told my husband shish is lamb and blamed us, but there is shrimp shish right on the menu�! What happened to customer service..where is will deliver the correct order to your house, sorry for the confusion? Here is a free baklava...$5 off you next order?? So disappointing in one of our local best!

I have been dining at this restaurant for many years the service is always great the people are really nice, very accommodating, food is always fresh, fantastic and very interesting and it is also a BYOB which also makes it a plus. I have never been disappointed.

What a wonderful lunch Maria and I just had. Our host and hostess made us feel like we were a part of their family! The sauced eggplant was out of this world. Grape leaves and falafel were spiced to perfection. I can't wait to go back!

Service and food were excellent!!! We will definitely be back.
