We've eaten here like 3 or 4 times already. The food has always been awesome. Very fresh and tasty. It doesn't taste like it's been laying there stale for hours. There's an amazing array of food to try. We live in Beasley Texas and drive here for the food. The Hibachi Grill is never a disappointment. I wish y'all would open a location in Richmond Rosenberg area. It's the absolute best.
First time visiting China Star. I am very picky about buffet style restaurants. With that being said - China Star surpassed all my expectations. We were immediately seated. The selection of food was incredible. The food was hot and plentiful. The staff is very friendly. The restaurant is very clean.
It seems like good buffets are harder to find but this one always delivers. At least 20 visits and I have never had an issue with the food or service.
There are a ton of choices from hibachi to sushi.
I definitely have some favorites like the peppered chicken, pepper steak, Mongolian beef and the coconut shrimp. I have eaten just about everything on the lunch and dinner buffer and some of the items are just ok but I have never eaten something that was bad. Give them a shot if your wanting a Chinese buffet that is clean and has good food.
This place always seems to be packed, but the good thing is that the food is always fresh out. They constantly rotate the table. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The cuisine is elegant. The service is excellent. The food will wake up your taste buds. Plenty of vegetables for vegans, fish, top notch sushi bar, choose what you want to eat and have the hibachi grill cook it for you. The buffet is amazing. Too many choices to list. Lots of desserts. There is sometimes a 20 minute wait. In my opinion, this is a good thing. 320 person capacity. This means fresh food all the time. No old food there. The cleaning is very thorough. The restaurant is scrubbed, swept, vacuumed and mopped at closing time. Lots of parking. I am very happy we have this restaurant in Lake Jackson.

A lot of choices here, and none of them are wrong. Not your usual China buffet; waitresses actually come around, tables aren't sticky, and "China Star" actually has a really nice elegent-type feel to it. Coconut Shrimp was our fav, along with those green beans! The hostess could have been a little bit more friendly - but other than that this place is worth the visit. Would go again, and do recommend.
It's one of the better buffet restaurants. Very good selections, including seafood. There are too many dessert options, for my big... appetite. *winks* I have eaten here several times but tried takeout for the first time. Painless process and very economical.
I go with my friend at least every two weeks. I love the choices available. Great food.
Nothing special. Overall, decent buffet. Would give it three stars but I think that's a negative rating and it wasn’t a negative experience. Food was hot and had decent flavor. Server was polite and efficient. Clean spot. Not much to complain about. Your typical Chinese buffet.
Food is amazing, choices were very large, and service was great. I would get up and get me more food and my and my drink would be refilled and my old plates would be gone by the time I got back to the table
Love the service and freshness of their food! Also, don’t forget to wear the gloves provided!!!
Always great food and staff.
We go here almost everytime we're in Lake Jackson. Either here or The Swamp Shack during crayfish season.
Very good selection with a full buffet to choose from. That also includes a hibachi grill. The hibachi was bit dry but overall, between the selection, service and atmosphere very good place to get full.
We've heard of some not so good reviews, so we had put off going here for some time. I believe it's more the seafood that is disliked. I do not eat seafood so I cannot rate this. Now that we've tried the rest of it I think the food was good, we also enjoyed the Hachi bar. Side note the beef, chicken, and pork are more like the peppered steak, chicken and broccoli, and pork from the buffet. Rather than thick cuts of steak and meats like Tokyo or Benihana's, which is fine I'm not complaining, it's good for here. Along with several desert options they have ice crem you get yourself from buckets (like baskin Robins) and soft serve also. As far as Chineese food I would say I like this place more than others in the area, but also I think Chineese food is hard to review for others because everyone has a different opinion about. So if you're wanting to give this place a try, I'd say go for it.
Love the all you can eat buffet. I just wish they offered more on the salad bar.
