Max’s Eatery did an outstanding way of satisfying my cravings, their mac & cheese is probably in my top 10 restaurant Mac and cheese. The alcohol was good ,soup was outstanding ,so were the chicken waffles, the inside atmosphere was that of a 50’s diner turned modern, the staff was nice and helpful, And everyone in my family was satisfied which is rare. So if you are in the Lancaster area I would recommend stopping here. You will not be disappointed.
Wow!!! My wife and I went here for dinner and were blown away. The cute ambiance and trendy atmosphere were just the beginning. The service was beyond our expectations and extremely friendly/accommodating and the food/drinks are literally what dreams are made of! I ordered the buffalo chicken/waffles main course and have been on cloud nine since then thinking back to it now. Not only were the portion sizes just right but the chicken was cooked flawlessly with every bite filled with a flavorful blend of buffalo sauce and a blue cheese creme drizzle and crumbles. The fluffy Belgian waffles served under the chicken were phenomenally light and airy with just enough sweetness to keep you craving more. Our adult mixed beverages were exclusively crafted and served with class and elegance, absolute perfection in every sip. I can't wait to go back here again! Don't miss out on this diamond of a restaurant, you won't regret it.
Our first time dining here. The service was a little weird (our server took a long time to greet us once we were seated, took even longer to take our orders, and then we suddenly had a new server halfway through) but other than that was a good experience. The food was good, and is a cute modern diner-style vibe.
I found this place through Google maps. It was walking distance from our hotel and I honestly thought it was a Chinese restaurant. Instead it felt like I went back in time when the place kids would hang out at the soda shop. I didn't have reservations but we were able to dine at the bar. We were seated quickly and our order was taken right away. Loved the music, the atmosphere, the decor and the whole Max team. I especially loved my BBQ Burnt Ends. My husband ordered the Reuben sandwich and a beer. The portions we generous. The staff were friendly and made sure we were enjoying our experience. I would definitely recommend making reservations if you want a table. We however, quite enjoyed our meal at the bar.
Maxs is a typical diner with fun atmosphere of a NYC cafe. Service was very good, however there is a very good wait time on sundays. Overall the food was diner quality with the exception of the curried lentil soup (which was uncommonly good.) The spices of the curry were just fantastic and it really was a star player in the meal. I would recommend this place to someone who’s priority is atmosphere over food.
We were looking for a place with both breakfast and lunch options in this area and came across Max's. The photos online looked really cool and the menu sounded good so we gave it a try. We lucked into a street parking spot right out front which was great.
We went at about 11:30 on a Saturday and it was pretty busy. There was a 30 minute wait for a table or counter space available right away. We chose to go with the counter.
Their drink menu had a lot of good sounding options and we watched the bartenders make several drinks and they were not stingy with the alcohol. The mimosas were 3/4 champagne as opposed to other places where it's juice with a splash of champagne.
My husband ordered the Burrito Jefe and I went with a single waffle and the Biscuits and Gravy. I'm so glad I decided to add the Biscuits and Gravy because those were by far the stand out. The waffle was good, but honestly it's pretty hard to mess up waffles. The Biscuits though were beyond. They were so buttery and somehow still had some crispy to them despite being covered by sausage gravy. The gravy was the perfect flavor and the sausage was cut into bigger chunks and not just crumbled throughout which was nice. The whole thing was topped with an egg, which I chose over easy, and green onion. It all went so well together and I would order it so many times! My husband really enjoyed the Burrito Jefe and said he would order that again as well.
The restaurant itself is decorated very cute with neon signs. It's a mix between a traditional diner and a stylish hip restaurant. The staff were very friendly and we had a great visit.
Another perk is that the restaurant is in very close proximity to the Lancaster Central Market which happened to be open the day we were there.
Cute joint for a casual meal. Atmosphere and staff were welcoming and fun. The drinks (mainly milkshakes - both with and without alcohol) take the stage here. The food was decent, but I've had better dinner food. I'd recommend the sandwiches, particularly the grilled cheese, which was awesome. The chicken and waffles were a bit disappointing - the waffles were soggy and the chicken tasted like frozen chicken strips you could get at the grocery store, though the spicy syrup was quite good.
Overall, fun place to stop and visit, especially for a milkshake.
Amazing Food! And I came to do the "To the Max Challenge" and it was superb! I ended up finishing it in 14min 44 seconds! If you're in the area please stop by! 😋
A cool little spot right near Penn Square in Lancaster city. It’s got the old school diner feel with a flare. They have a menu that features brunch, lunch, cocktails and boujee milkshakes.
For brunch, I got the Buford Van Stomm Sando. It was a breakfast sausage smash patty, cheese omelette, onion rings, bacon mayo and pickled jalapeños. The sandwich was loaded with flavor, and the mayo and jalapeños gave it an extra pop. Spicy, crunchy, salty and savory. All you need for when you’re nursing a hangover.
Oh my, so glad we stopped in for a late night bite. Smash burgers were amazing, as well as the onion rings and tater tots. The tater tots and onion rings had the perfect crunch and saltiness. The burger had that crispy outer layer and was amazing. Definitely a place to try. The decor has that old diner feel. Our server was friendly and the food arrived fast. If you were an 80s early 90s kid, you'll appreciate the saved by the bell flash back.
In short a diner with a bar, what's not to like?! The location is perfect. Right across from parking means it is a very accessible city dining spot. If it could improve on one thing it would be the depth of the menu. Its a little limited, but it seems they fill it out some with an ever changing list of specials. The cocktail list they put on every table specifically focuses on drinks made with "rail" liquor. This heightens the working mans vibe of the establishment. The decor is dominated by one huge exposed brick wall and a giant pink neon sign with the name of the restaurant giving the place a nice 50s flair to what otherwise a modern feel. I will be back.
Super cute location. Large party seating is available. Great band was playing this past Sunday for brunch. Food was delicious. Staff was attentive. Would definitely return when we come back to Lancaster, PA. Recommend the loaded tater tots and the chicken and waffles! The mild shakes were also super cute.
Get a milkshake. The other food is also good. Im a big fan of the Buford Van Stom. Spouse always gets the Burrito Jefe. tots obviouslie. I like the whole menu.
Went to Max's for a Sunday supper club and was blown away by the food and cocktails. The chicken and waffles was soooo good! That evening everything had honey in it somewhere and the food was stellar from the first bite to the last. We cleaned off every plate!
Have only been here a few times and the wait is always a little long depending what time/ day of the week, but it’s never too unbearable. The wait for food is pretty long which isn’t the most pleasant but when it comes out it is really good. Would recommend for a day that you have time to waste, dont come here as a last minute idea because there will most likely be a long-ish wait. The food is always good & they have friendly staff. Swing by for a brunch or dinner if you’re in town!
Super rad spot!
Smash burger was awesome and the burnt ends were perfect.
Adult milkshakes and burgers how can you go wrong.
Recommend reservations but bar is first come first serve with plenty of room to have a meal.
Cute throwback to the 70s at the counter with the little bolted stools! And that wedge salad, my god... I think they literally have me half the head! Definitely try their Passion fruit Mimosa in the x3 size.. more bang for your buck 😜
Had we remembered about this place we would have went here for breakfast, but after we had breakfast at another establishment we were walking down the street past Max's and decide to pop in for a drink.
We had such a nice time there we sat at the counter and both ordered a beer and looked over the menu and definitely will be going back for a meal.
